Sick I already drop at nursery, then breakfast club so this won't change....still only two locations. I think I'm more worried about the school run on maternity leave. We're already usually the last to arrive! At least I will only have to do school run for about three weeks before they break for summer hols. But how am I going to manage with a 6 year old, a three year old and a breastfeeding infant with NO SCHOOL OR NURSERY!!!!! FOR SIX WEEKS. Baby had better like a sling.

WifeofGru · 21/11/2013 12:29

sickandspan yes our third too. Lie down at night and think I am crazy but I always find first trimester far harder than a newborn.
lady DD1 turns 6 next week and DD2 will be 2.9 when the baby arrives. aiming to get her potty trained by then. yes, school holidays will be a blessing and a curse. No needing to get out the door with all 3 at 8.30, but a caged 6 and 2 year old and breast feeding.....arghh. Hoping for a good summer weather wise and they can get out in the garden! Odds are slim tho in Scotland! I think I will have to take each day as it comes.

dramajustfollowsme · 21/11/2013 12:29

I'm trying to figure out the logistics of drop offs too. It seems a like logistical nightmare so I'm just going to ignore for as long as possible. Grin
Dh works ridiculously long hours and it is just dd and I most evenings and some weekends. This is going to be horrendous when you add in a newborn.
Thank god that it will be summer holidays initially and my sis, a teacher, can help out.

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2013 12:53

Sad Drama. It is hard when you have to cope on your own. Will he be able to take some time off?

I'm going to see if DH can save most of his holiday - will be nice for him to be off in the summer anyway. I was joking with him that I've perfectly timed this baby as he should be getting his paternity leave to coincide with the World Cup!

DS usually goes to visit his Dad/GP's for a couple of weeks in Summer anyway which will help. We might have to go and stay with the GP's for a bit so they can keep DD occupied.

I really hope we can have a home birth as will make the whole childcare issues much easier to deal with.

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2013 12:54

Wife a good summer would be amazing. Could just sit and feed in the garden whilst DC's run about. Fingers crossed.

Vickyvix · 21/11/2013 12:55

Urgghh monster headache today, Has been getting gradually worse since last night, am not going to last much longer at work, just want to go home and curl up on the sofa ........at least it gets me out of a work do tonight, we had a client do planned (always an alcohol fuelled night) and I was worried about people noticing if I wasn't drinking. At least by going home I'll I avoid that situation.

Great news on the scan bee

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 13:13

urgh - sorry you're feeling icky vicky and beewitched

2 hours mtmd?! really?! I haven't received a letter at all. My mw called to arrange so I only know what time it starts and I have to take pee with me!

It's tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, but oddly nervous.

I had a bloat for a few weeks, but that disappeared a couple weeks ago. Today my trousers are super tight again. I'm now 7w+5. So is this it now - do you think I'll just get bigger and bigger? Or might this be a second bloat that'll disappear too?

WifeofGru · 21/11/2013 13:15

lady that's what my romantic head says! Outdoor lunch and dinner too for DDs. So much less cleaning up afterwards!

Lmf679 · 21/11/2013 13:49

MTMD I hate the tube, it is the worst at the moment when you're feeling sick (have to do the central line every day) people are so rude, you're not alone in this. An old lady once kicked me hard in the shin because my bag accidentally went into her leg when the tube came to a sudden halt and last week my friend was feeling like she was going to faint, asked a lady for her seat because she was unwell and all she got was 'you're not having my effing seat!' My friend then fainted on the floor...
I'm trying to go into work a bit later and leave a bit later too so I'm more likely to get a seat. I don't have a badge yet - I can't believe that lady was so rude to someone who is blatantly pregnant. Hope you have a much less stressful journey home.

wispaxmas · 21/11/2013 13:58

That horrible woman! my god, but some people are just evil.

My booking in appt took over an hour for sure, and that was with everything being straightforward and quick! It's a lot they make you go through in the notes, it does take a while.. is there no other later train to take?

GillyBillyWilly · 21/11/2013 14:20

I think my booking appointment tools just over an hour.... I doubt the midwife would've been impressed if I said I had to go early! They seem to be quite strict about these things!!! Grin
You might be able to do it in time but it would be a shame to rush it because it's good to go through everything properly and let the midwife do all the things she needs to do in her own time/pace.

Are you able to get a later train? Or maybe reschedule your booking appt?

OP posts:
superlambanana · 21/11/2013 14:26

My booking appt only took an hour but then I had to go to hospital as mw couldn't get my bloods, so the phlebotomist had to do it. Why don't you ring them and ask?

Ladies, I have just spent the BEST £44 of my entire life... I have had two cleaners in for a couple of hours. Never done it before but I'm useless at the moment, DH doesn't have time as he's already working long hours and doing all the cooking, and the house was getting in a state, not helped by my furry doggy friend. Honestly it has made SUCH a difference - I am less stressed, feel better myself as there's no manky dirt making me feel more sick, and they have done such a good job. Highly recommended! They weren't bothered at all that I was lounging around looking ill while they did it either!

BEEwitched · 21/11/2013 14:35

My booking apt took 3 hours but it was hectic and crowded at the hospital and I saw 5 or 6 different doctors, nurses and midwives. The letter said at least two hours.

Vickyvix · 21/11/2013 14:43

Yep, agree re booking appointment, mine was about 1hr 20mins and I was fairly straight forward, depending on previous medical history etc there are other questions which may take longer. I had to wait around for bloods to be taken too.

Also agree with the horrible tube experience in London, I had to stand this morning for nearly an hour, felt rotten but some guy shoved past me to get the last seat. I'll be getting my baby on board badge out soon - just trying to travel later in the morning so it's quieter, commuters can be so horrible, I don't know what gets into people!

Talking of tube - am about to embark on the trip back home to go sit in a dark room, head is banging and I can't stare at a computer any longer

dramajustfollowsme · 21/11/2013 15:16

My booking appointment took about 40 mins but I had been given the notes to fill in before hand. The midwife read through them, took height, weight and bloods and I was away.
I'm now waiting for my scan appointment. In previous pregnancies, there have been problems so I've had a scabby this point. I was scanned practically every 2 weeks with dd. This baby will feel neglected without so many growth scan pictures. Grin

MarlenaGru · 21/11/2013 17:44

Hope today's scans all went well!

I am off tomorrow so finished for the week! Woohoo! And 9 weeks tomorrow so ticking slowly by. I just pray I feel better by Xmas!

MTMD · 21/11/2013 17:46

Marlena, me too! I so look forward to Christmas this year! Totally unlike me but I hope to feel human again so bring it on! Even had my first mince pie today :)

SarahAnderson · 21/11/2013 17:51

Super, I’m with you on the cleaner front. I would rather go without new clothes, nights out, holidays, or frankly food and heating than not have my weekly cleaner visit. She is £30 and it is without question the best £30 I spend each week in terms of the effect on our household happiness.

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 19:00

me too. our cleaners came for the second time today (they started a fortnight ago) I cannot wait to get home to a clean house! Grin

also....when I'm desperate £17 to get local dry cleaner to iron three weeks of dh's shirts is amazing. I throw them in washing machine (I can cope with that at the moment!) and they come home hanging and ready to wear. bliss!Grin

means I can concentrate on the basics.....like washing my hair! (fb thinks I'm a tramp. I've gone from three washes a week....to one or two at best). I hate myself but it's by far the most effort of anything I have to do (ignoring work) and I simply cannot motivate myself. It's freezing so I have to blow dry and even holding my hairdryer for 2-3minutes exhausting! I haven't even plugged my straighteners in for a couple of months!

It is just me thats turned into a personal hygiene sloth?!

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 19:02

ps. my hair is HUGE so normally blow drying it straight before straightening it is a mandatory 60-90min task!

god knows what people must think I look like!

superlambanana · 21/11/2013 19:24

Jaykay I haven't plucked my eyebrows for a week and a half Blush

cheesysmile · 21/11/2013 19:39

I'm another with you on the cleaner front. We've had one for quite a while now and its the best money we've ever spent. So nice to know the house will have a proper clean once a week. It might be a bit indulgent but I don't care, it just makes life better!

My booking in was only abt 30-40mins although she said it normally takes an hour so not sure what she missed out with me. She had a meeting to get to apparently. Didn't have anymore questions though so didn't really bother me.

Only 4 more sleeps til scan day now... Grin Congrats to those with positive scans today!

MarlenaGru · 21/11/2013 20:47

My booking was also only 45 minutes which included bloods and a lot of form filling. Oh and the obligatory peeing in a teeny weeny pot.

We got our cleaner when dd was 3 months old. And I would rather eat beans for the rest of my life than lose her. She is also ironing the shirts at the moment. She is due tomorrow and our house is desperate for her! A messy teen, a 5 YO, 2 cats and 2 adults equals a lot of mess and I certainly don't have the energy to clean!

MinaLeeds · 21/11/2013 20:57

Hello Ladies! I had my booking in appointment on Monday. It took about an hour to fill out all the paperwork and I should be getting a letter from hospital telling me my scan date. Went to a wedding yesterday where I was sat at a table full of midwives. It was awesome! They were all so lovely and work at a birthing centre where I was hoping to go so I know for sure that they're really lovely and it's not just my friend who works there who's lovely. Lol! When I said I wanted to go to their birthing centre they were really excited. One of them also asked whether I'd thought of having a home birth (which I hadn't) as Leeds apparently has a really good home birthing team and you get a lot more personalised care that way in an environment you're comfortable in and don't have to leave! It sounds like it might be a good option if everything goes well and I'm still classed as low risk. Something more to think about! Went to a charity shop today where they had lots of adorable baby stuff. Think it might be tempting fate a bit to buy baby stuff this early but I can't wait until it's an option!

We're currently visiting DH's parents in Devon and I'm hiding in the bedroom cos the smell of dinner is making me want to throw up. So annoying!

MTMD · 21/11/2013 21:16

I'm not very good with beauty stuff either.. And my skin is so sensitive that any kind of hair removal is unbearable so I'm showcasing cave woman style Blush

I want a cleaner but can't afford it. DH will have to do for now :)
