I think I may leave it. I'm worried that being out for the amount of time I'm out for, and lots of toing and froing back home - combined with the time a baby is going to take up - I won't be able to give it the love and attention it deserves. I love animals and I'd feel awful if that was to happen.
Thanks for the advice guys :)

moomin I think that's a wise decision. A lot of pregant woman end OU getting pets during pregancy in a misplaced need to nurture then feel terribly guilty when they don't sent give the same care and devoting to it.

LittleBairn · 22/10/2013 22:30

Wow that was a very badly written post by me, damn iPad.
It meant to read :

Minions · 22/10/2013 22:31

Sorry shanks to hear your sad news.

I'm 13 weeks today and ms is definitely getting better, tends to be whole good or bad days. I might be crazy but I think it depends on what I wear! Jeans that are a hint tight now = feeling sick all day. Floaty dress = much better day with hardly feeling sick.

I'm going to avoid jeans/trousers for rest of week until I get bigger ones! Night night all

Hezbean · 22/10/2013 23:00

Thanks LittleBairn for the reassurance! I'd better get to bed and get some shut eye hadn't I?! 10 weeks today so hopefully in a couple of weeks the sleep will return...

Night night everyone! See you tomorrow lovely ladies xxx

impatientlywaiting · 22/10/2013 23:04

Good luck for tomorrow's scan Bush and Thistle and anyone else having them. Hope they go well.

Xavielli · 23/10/2013 06:53

So sorry shanks

Good luck to today's scanees. I'm starting to feel a bit excited about mine now - making me feel more positive about the whole pregnancy.

Going to take the babies to playgroup this morning and make a start on DS2's requested Tree Fu Tom birthday cake this afternoon. This must mean I'm feeling better as I couldn't even think of making plans that took me off the sofa last week. Hope everyone else starts feeling better too

hamncheese · 23/10/2013 07:36

Sorry to hear shanks :(

littlebairn that's rubbish. Makes me glad of my indie Mw though that you've said that. I think knowing who is coming is a big deal to me, knowing that I won't get someone who doesn't know about or care for my wishes arriving when I'm in labour or reassuring. There are two indies in our area I know of, carrie macintosh in Edinburgh and Allison Ewing in Glasgow. Allison is my mw but they are both trying to work together at the moment so you would have both of them for the birth anyway. She is v supportive of home birth despite things that make hospitals want you not want to have one.

moomin our four cats have had to deal with being a little less loved since DS arrived... Poor moggers! I think you are right to wait, get pets when your little one is wanting them too!

Had my scan yesterday (again) all well, pictures not as good oddly but they changed me one day (why bother?!) either way it all ties in with the date of conception I told them but they chose to ignore! Ho hum...

I'm hoping to buy a car soon (if I can scrape the cash together)... Being less fit with pregnancy has made me realise now I don't live in town I'm getting a bit isolated. DS went to mil today for a change of scene he's so bored of being in the house all day poor man!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 23/10/2013 08:46

Minions that's not coincedience! Keep with the loose/maternity clothing and you should feel better.

snoozysleeper · 23/10/2013 11:15

Can someone please explain this Confused

I had bookin in appt and was told I'd be midwife-led care. Today I've got a letter telling me I have a consultant antenatal appt at approximately week 13 Hmm

Is this a 12 week scan ? It doesn't say that on the letter...
And if not, then what in earth is going on?!!

bluestone85 · 23/10/2013 12:12

I'm really not sure Snoozy. But then I'm no help with it being my first pregnancy. I'm sure I forgot to ask the mw things!

Just rang and got my scan date :D 4th November... seems so long away, but I know its not :) xx

LongTailedTit · 23/10/2013 12:31

Snoozy - I have had a letter about a consultant appt too, no info saying what it's for, just the appt time and date. I am assuming it's because i had GBStrep in my last pregnancy, no idea what else it could be. Mine's around 16wks.
If it is the GBS thing, it'll mean a home birth's off the cards and I'll go to the labour ward - which is fine!

Massively inconvenient early appointment, as I've no idea how i'll get there unless DH takes the morning off, and DS may have to miss preschool if I can't get someone to both take and collect him.

LongTailedTit · 23/10/2013 12:32

PS meant to add, it def won't be your 12wk scan appt.
You should get a letter soon about that, mine arrived around wk9/10, it needs to be done between week 11-13.

snoozysleeper · 23/10/2013 12:36

Thank you longtailed and bluestone

This is my first pregnancy so now panicking that there must have been something wrong at my booking-in appt that I don't know about Confused

bluestone85 · 23/10/2013 12:59

Snoozy, ring your hospital antenatal section and ask them to tell you your scan date. Thats what I did as our post is so unreliable.

You can always ring your midwife too, or the hospital to ask why you have consultant appointment xxx

bushprincess · 23/10/2013 13:08

Hi All!

scan went well today (well I think so, Dr seemed to err on the side of the morose, but I'm sure thats him and nothing to do with me or bean!!)

They've pushed me forwards to 11+3 based on measurements (could just be because I come from a family of giants!!) and he did a NT measurement 1.5mm which he said was within 'his' normal limits... when quizzed more on what the set normal limits were he was pretty cagey, but I get the impression not to worry too much...

Thistle what did they say about your NT today??

Minions hope the floaty dress theory has done away with your sickness again today!! All my trousers definately a little more snug, but luckily the weather here at the moment is conducive to floaty dresses so think I'll stick with those for a while!

Snoozy hope you find out what your appointment is for, it would seem rather re-miss of the midwife if they didn't alert you to anything wrong at your booking in, so fx it's just routine for your area/something v.minor. But I'm sure you'll feel better if you can understand what the appointment is for. let us know

Will check in later for news. Hope everyone else is having a good day!

moominleigh94 · 23/10/2013 13:15

I've got to have consultant appt at some point... history of genetic disease in immediate family, abdominal adhesions and a scar from an operation make me a pregnancy minefield it seems Grin

LongTailedTit · 23/10/2013 13:22

Snoozy I have just called Obstetrics and managed to change the appt time, and while I was on the phone I asked if they knew what the appt for for - she didn't know, but agreed it was most likely to do with the GBS.

I also asked if it could be something to do with the blood tests I've had (midwife requested ones) and she said v firmly NO - I would be informed of anything found straight away, they wouldn't book me in to tell me a month later!
She said unexpected Obs Consultant appts will usually because you have a long term medical condition or the midwife has relayed concerns about a specific issue, or something arose in a previous pregnancy.

Maybe just give your midwife a call and ask her to let you know why she has referred you.

snoozysleeper · 23/10/2013 13:48

Thank you bluestone and longtailed again Smile I've called midwife but no answer!! So I'm going to call tomorrow

I'm relieved to hear its unlikely to be bloods related too, Thankyou longtailed

bushprincess congratulations on your scan Flowers it must be a relief to have had it done

moomin there must be something in my past medical history but yet to find out what it is... I suppose it doesn't really make a difference because I'd still go to appt. would just like to know what it is

moominleigh94 · 23/10/2013 14:58

Got my consultant letter through in the post this morning.... clashes with an assessment that I can't get out of and don't want to get out of. Sad this is tougher than I thought it'd be and the baby isn't even here yet!

OP posts:
Minions · 23/10/2013 15:12

Congrats bushprincess :)

Hope you get through to the mw soon snoozy - frustrating that they don't always tell you about these things....

dobedobedo · 23/10/2013 15:14

Just call up and change it moomin! He probably only wants to meet you and do his own tests anyway.

Today I had a very naughty donut from Greggs (toffee icing and custard in the middle in case you're wondering) and then I immediately puked it up.

Finally morning sickness makes itself useful! Grin

snoozysleeper · 23/10/2013 15:24

minions still not getting through to midwife but called antenatal dept instead to 'clarify' and they said the appt was for BOTH my 12 wk scan and a consultant appointment Confused

I'll be 13+3 then Hmm

So irritating, I keep trying to be calm but not working

dobe I'm glad your ms has come to some use Wink

And moomin just give them a call to change date

hamncheese · 23/10/2013 16:01

dobe I ate two aulds toffee crispies and feel so so sick. No puking though, so I'm porky and nauseaous! Got to go do a crit for a paper at a seminar this evening too bah. :(

moominleigh94 · 23/10/2013 16:08

Called and changed date :) much easier than I expected Grin thanks :)
