thistlelicker · 01/11/2013 22:59

This is going to sound really stupid, but now baby is bigger, will I be able to feel it thru my extra layers
Of flabby bits ?? My tummy feels rather tender just about 5cm where they did my scan a couple of weeks ago so I'm guessing that's where baby is?

dobedobedo · 02/11/2013 01:47

alioh and chip I'm due 9th of may also!

randdom · 02/11/2013 03:57

hamncheese · 02/11/2013 06:33

Up at five here randomm ....but I did go to bed at seven so...! Only got up to pee twice last night woohoo!

loopylou a moby would be great to start with. You just need a little time to get used to putting it on. You can practice with a doll or big teddy before baby comes but if you try with your newborn and are unsure first time just give it a shot in the house and after a few attempts you will master it. Takes a little time but so worth it. They are the best for any ailments you have. If you have hip issues avoid ring slings.

more info on types of slings

Best thing to do is go to your local sling meet and see some in person, try them out, and see demos from others. Slight warning, some sling meets are absolutely lovely but there will be some cliquey people there who are obsessed with slings. Don't let it put you off though, seeing them in person really helps :)

Aww lovely moomin :) I'm taking my mum to test drive some prams in a couple of weeks, I know that's something DP will definitely not want to do! My mums started knitting as well, so got loads of tiny cardigans already :)

Xavielli · 02/11/2013 08:58

Poor dd2 cbeebies :( hope she's ok now. Hope you're ok, I know how draining it is to have a child in hospital and it doesn't hit you til the crisis is over. Please take it easy. Congrats on the scan

Xavielli · 02/11/2013 09:00

Loving all the motherly excitement! Mine is so over it now, this will be her 11th grandchild! She bought pretty much everything for my first though.

loopylou52 · 02/11/2013 09:28

Hooray for the scan Cbeebies but sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she's ok now. Sounds like a roller coaster couple of days for you.

loopy i really wish there was a window in my tummy and i could watch baby all the time, i would not get anything done though Smile

Chip86 · 02/11/2013 09:55

aliho which pram do you hope to get?

moobaloo · 02/11/2013 09:56

Hope dd2 is on the mend now cbeebies and good news on the scan!

DP wouldn't stop talking babies last night Grin so happy he's getting involved and suchlike now as he was not keen at the start at all. We were talking prams and worked out how to tell our parents (at the restaurant, but with everyone having an envelope (including us to confuse them) with their name on with the announcement inside so we don't have to say the words!) and then he started talking baby names when we went to bed and we stayed up for ages until we got full names (first and two middle) for a boy and a girl with two reserve boy and girls first and middle names Grin of course they may change and I'm not going to say what they are right now, but really pleased we chose names we both liked and didn't fight and now we have two perfect names Grin he also said (regarding the announcement) "we'll have to announce it again in a couple of years and they'll be like "whatever" then because it won't be as exciting" and I said 1. I thought you recently said you only wanted one child and 2. what about a bigger age gap? He said no, he wanted them two years apart.

Happy happy happy

AliOh · 02/11/2013 10:09

Aww lovely moobaloo :)

Not sure yet chip been looking at a Silvercross one on mothercare, my mum is buying is so don't want to pick a really expensive one, also I'm a bit limited as mothercare is the nearest place I can go to get one and still over an hour away and I don't think it's a very big one either but definitely want to try a few out first, I've never really pushed a pram before so haven't a clue what to look out for!

Chip86 · 02/11/2013 10:22

moo so excited for you thats lovely

Aliho we did not know eather but mothercare did a demo on all the pushchairs very helpful ( you could ask if they do them and when the next one is )
We have picked the bugaloo bee most practical for us watched loads of youtube videos, then showed parents they loved it and paid for most of it, its gone on the baby plan, sooooo excited want it now just so i can push it around hehehe,
Silvercross are beautiful
Bit big for us, we live in tiny flat not sure were baby going to fit, we will have to move by time baby 6month as do not have room for a bed for baby

Chip86 · 02/11/2013 10:23

Also be brave and ask strangers pushing prams in the street they were very helpfull Grin

Cupcake1985 · 02/11/2013 10:39

Got my first scan date! Friday 15th! Lovely as we had requested a Friday so DH could take the whole day off even though ill have to go to work in the afternoon! I will be 12+2. It came with the title nuchal scan which I'm guessing is right as she said at the dating scan we will have the nuchal at the same time. Not fancying the requested 2 pints of water an hour before the appointment that's loads!!

Xavielli · 02/11/2013 11:15

2 pints?? It's not needed. You need to have a drink (ie a glass) of water or squash half an hour before your appointment. If you drink 2 pints you'll be asked to empty your bladder as they won't be able to see anything

Cupcake1985 · 02/11/2013 11:18

Thought it sounded a lot! Maybe they assume people wont drink so over advise? I would literally pop! I'll aim for a pint - cup of tea and big glass of squash I'm sure that would do.

LittleBairn · 02/11/2013 11:19

moobaloo your DP sounds so excited, it can take a while for men for it seem real my DH was like that too.

So impressed you have names sorted DH and I have epic name battles we just don't agree. He likes so few names, would like something common and hates all my suggestions but then comes out with really outrageous names. I would like an unusual name.

On the subject of Prams I have used loads as a nanny so m quite picky, my favorite was always the bugaboo Cameleon so will probably go with it. But I do really like the Stokke Xplory.
Whatever I choose it will need to be a workhorse because I don't drive.

LittleBairn · 02/11/2013 11:20

I was told 1 pint before the appointment no wy my bladder could manage two!
