Hi JuniorMint

I drank a pint of water before the scan. It was quite quick, maybe about 10 minutes in total - I wore jeans and had to pull them quite far down (!)

The sonographer took a number of measurements including the length of the embryo, the diameter of the head and the nuchal fold. She told me that the NT fold result meant she didn't need to refer me but I should wait for the blood test results. We heard the heartbeat briefly. And yes we got pictures but had to pay £4 for them.

I've also got a date for the 20 week scan in mid December.
I don't think I'll believe it's happening until I see a bump. Good luck with your scan on Thursday!

JuniorMint · 28/10/2013 12:21

Thanks banana! I'm really excited and a little nervous too... Smile

thistlelicker · 28/10/2013 12:23

I got my 20 week scan the same day as I had my 12 week scan

LittleBairn · 28/10/2013 12:57

lacey I'm so sorry. I hope TTC won't take too long for you.

LittleBairn · 28/10/2013 13:02

hezbean I was the same pregnacy, ate a very clean diet no refined sugar, low carb, lots of fresh fruit and veg for snacks and everything home cooked.
I just haven't been able to keep up with it during this pregnacy and I'm staring to feel the effects of increased sugar feeling very lethargic.

Tonight I'm going to force myself to make chicken puff pie with loads of broccoli.

loopylou52 · 28/10/2013 13:41

So sorry to hear your news Lacey. Thanks

loopylou52 · 28/10/2013 13:46

I know what you mean impatiently - I've been eating rubbish, and lots of it, to stave off the nausea so have put on weight already and am struggling with finding clothes to wear. I read something somewhere about your body building up fat stores for feeding the baby later on and I think this is a nice way to think of it - I.e. that it's not just useless podge but is there to help nourish the baby when it arrives. (Of course, that thought only really works if you're planning to breastfeed but still!). It made me feel better anyway!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 28/10/2013 13:59

lacey so sorry. Look after yourself.

wm3010 · 28/10/2013 14:12

So sorry lacey

It seems a bit insensitive to post this now but I can't manage to keep it to myself any longer, scan this morning and it was lovely. Was confirmed at 12+4 with due date 8 May.

Vikks · 28/10/2013 14:18

bluestone85 · 28/10/2013 14:30

Congratulations Banana and wm Grin

wm3010 · 28/10/2013 14:54

Thanks all, was amazed by how much you can actually see when it's only 6 cms long!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 28/10/2013 14:54

hezbean are you going to start up your weight training again?

I used to be in the gym every weekday at 5.15am, to do weights and run 5k. I havent stepped foot in the gym for nearly 12 weeks. I promised OH I wouldn't till after scan (15th Nov), but couldn't have even if I wanted to because of nausea and tiredness.

Im desperate to get back into the gym now as we're going on holiday for xmas/new years. But am nervous as its been so long.

NannyPlumForPM · 28/10/2013 14:58

Congratualations banana and wm

And really sad news laceylee :( Flowers Good luck TTC if that's your next plan

I have had my next scan date through - 23rd December! Seems like lightyears away - just want to know what bloody sex it is grrr

LittleBairn · 28/10/2013 15:08

banana you can insist they change it,they fight against it because it causes them a paperwork headache. It's ideal the dates are correct otherwise near the end you might get a lot of pressure to induce because they believe you are later on in pregnacy.

The main thing is you know the correct date and you stick to your date regardless of pressure.

I'm 100% certain of my due date I was testing ovulation and know my cycle and early scan was dead on. But my dating scan is Friday at 14 weeks and likely to be inaccurate. I won't be budging on my dates even if I have to amend my notes myself.

thistlelicker · 28/10/2013 15:08

Which apps do u use if any?

mumof2aimingfor4 · 28/10/2013 15:11

thistle which apps for what?

thistlelicker · 28/10/2013 15:13

iPhone... Baby apps/pregnancy app

snoozysleeper · 28/10/2013 15:19

Congrats wm Grin

thistle I don't use any apps for pregnancy

Officially a prune today Smile 10+0

mumof2aimingfor4 · 28/10/2013 15:23

I use android apps as I have a samsung. Theres one called kick me which is good for when you start to feel kicks etc as it charts babies daily movements. Otherwise I don't use any others. Kiddicare app is good for shopping and they often have bargains!

hamncheese · 28/10/2013 15:31

banana I'm echoing littlebairn there is a lot of research to show that a woman's lmp dates are just as accurate as scan dates and you should stick to them if you know for certain your date is too early. Also for the future anyone can refuse to be induced at any point. You can wait cautiously. There risk of unnecessary interventions increases dramatically if you are induced and the wish for a normal birth can go out the window in a shot. Suggest anyone who is wanting a normal natural birth join the positive birth movement. There are local fb pages too.

bluestone85 · 28/10/2013 15:43
