thanks slippy... this puts things in perspective a bit... I needed some perspective today... you are right and I agree, you probably just got lucky and caught her in the right mood / right moment. In all fairness, the midwife I saw on Monday was lovely and I didn't feel she was rushing me... I wonder which one of us will go first at this stage Smile make sure you update this thread or FB if you go in! we may well end up being there at the same time! Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/10/2013 12:48

Ooh yes that is one good thing Clapham, I thought I had a tummy full of purple stretch marks but they are all gone, it was just thin skin and lots of blood pumping. I got some angry looking stretch marks right on my groin/inner thighs which I think may have happened in labour, although I haven't seen down there for months so who knows. Not an area I am likely to be showing off! Fingers crossed no stretch marks for you either. Did you get them last time? Glad no protein in your urine, good news.

claphammama · 23/10/2013 13:10

no, didn't get them last time orange and my mum didn't get them in her pregnancies - apparently it's mainly genetic anyway. So fingers crossed. not the most important thing in life to be honest... but I'm running out of positives to focus on :-)

BowlFullofJelly · 23/10/2013 14:02

clapham is your baby engaged? Mine was still free at 40 week appointment, and so they refused to do sweep as there is a risk of breaking waters with 2nd time mums, which could cause cord prolapse. If baby is engaged you are better off faking early labour, they will probably take pity and give you a sweep to get things going if you say you are having contractions Wink.

Smitten1981 · 23/10/2013 14:06

I feel really fed up today. My friend had her baby this morning three weeks early. She stole my due date - hmph Hmm

GTbaby · 23/10/2013 14:08

Expressed lo nxt feed. Having a nap while mum baby sits.

thethreeblondies · 23/10/2013 14:18

Brill I've just upset my mum! Was on the phone and heard someone out the front could see car through door glass but no person, unlocked door and found mum looking through windows (bungalow!) said mum what are doing snooping around? and walked in to house (on phone to sis!) she whispered that she was just checking for me (as presumably door isn't usually locked) then she calls out, fine she'll go, gets in her car and drives off! Now I wasn't really expecting her and have locked door as fil for one has habit of coming on in when I'm in loo or on ball etc, as she drove off I gestured to her that I was on phone but she still just went! I snapped at her the other day as she phoned when I was on loo and she panicked as I had to phone her back, today she didn't knock and probably presumed I was in labour or napping! Grrrrrrrr bloody people! Only half expected her as on fb earlier she put she was popping in on me as I was 5 days overdue (I'm 4 days actually!) and she wants to meet baby now!! Can't be doing with it, I'm not ringing her, could do without the stress of dealing with her!

Sorry for rant, feel better now Smile

roxvox · 23/10/2013 15:02

taking I had flu like symptoms too, I would get checked out ASAP because I left mine go for a few days and it just got worse and I ended up having to top up A's feed with formula because my breasts weren't producing enough (Dr reckoned it was because my body was focusing energy elsewhere to get better). Yes, you can continue to BF when on these antibiotics.

Anyone else seem to end up with milk 'sick' down their cleavage at least once a day?!

claphammama · 23/10/2013 16:04

bowlfull only 1/5 engaged so not amazing... apparently was 2/5 about 4 weeks ago so seems to be going backwards.... interesting what you say about 2nd time mums and waters...

smitten how inconsiderate of your friend [

blondies I don't blame you and this is exactly how my MIL winds me up. Luckily she is in Cheltenham so can't just pop in but when she kept calling she would say "hurry up! I can't wait!". Well... I can't wait either and it's not all about her... anyway, she is too scared to call now Grin

I'm very hormonal and not a nice person today... find myself hating all the human race today (apart from you ladies on this thread Smile ). I'm definitely looking for a flight...

claphammama · 23/10/2013 16:15

PS. looking for a fight not flight! Grin or flight somewhere far away, where there are no people Grin

takingachance · 23/10/2013 16:25

Thanks rox that's me just back from emergency GP appointment and yes I have elevated temp/pulse and definite mastitis Sad But at least now I have started the anti b's and hopefully will get on top of it. Also max dose paracetamol - apparently the shaking is rigors caused by raised temperature (even though I felt absolutely freezing!).

No idea what caused it - I was lucky last time as I didn't get it at all. It could be an ill fitting bra? I have been a bit lax about getting refitted.

Oh yes - I've had the milk sick in my cleavage several times! It's funny to see dd1's reaction - she is horrified!

Thank you all for your advice to spur me to go to the docs xx

Shootingstarsandcomets · 23/10/2013 17:09

Oh no taking mastitis is awful, poor you.
Glad all ok today clapham hope things get going soon for you.
Little B was weighed today and only lost 2oz so obviously my boobs are doing their thing even though I'm not convinced our latch is perfect yet. Also had some cards and gifts through today so am a bit happier he isn't so neglected after all!
DH is annoying me though. He keeps sneaking into the office upstairs to do work when he is officially on paternity leave. Makes me cross as surely he should be running about after ds, doing all the housework and doting on me whilst I recover from major abdominal surgery and 9 months of pregnancy?!

xuntitledx · 23/10/2013 17:41

Midwife visit today and LO lost 12oz so only weighs 8lbs now.

Midwife wasn't concerned and advised he's under the 10% threshold but only just! Repeat visit on Friday to keep an eye on us.

Anyone else really struggling with the baby blues? I feel like I'm constantly in tears :(

Sanjifair · 23/10/2013 17:45

taking glad you got it checked out. Hopefully will clear up quickly with the anti-bs.

Maternity clothes, it was annoying me that the specific maternity tops I had bought did not cover my tummy properly from about 36 weeks. It's the 'floaty' non-maternity tops I bought from fat face/ white stuff which are the only things I can wear now.

Now been in hospital 24h, no progress whatsoever regarding dilation, nothing else they can do on the ante natal ward, and no sign of any room in the delivery unit, the lady ahead if me in the queue is still here too.

FED UP!!!

claphammama · 23/10/2013 18:14

how frustrating sanji... being induced is not fun to start with but this long wait must be really stressful. hope it won't be long now Thanks

shooting annoying about your DP... I totally understand - he should be helping. Although I fear mine will be the same to be honest... time only will tell! hope you are feeling better now. I will also have two boys and no girl as I really don't think I will have another one Smile

untitled fingers crossed she gains weight. she was a big baby so can afford to lose some weight. they stress much more about small babies. It will come back!

claphammama · 23/10/2013 18:16

meant HE untitled!

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/10/2013 19:02

Untitled Thomas lost 13-14lb but because he was smaller to start with it is more of his %. Hope he puts on a bit soon but good that they don't seem too worried. I think it is very normal.

I have a few teary moments each day but luckily not constant at all. So glad we know to expect it. Hope you are getting lots off cuddles.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/10/2013 19:30

Ounces, not lb obviously!

I don't seem to have the same problem as my baby, stepped on the wii fit scales today, hadn't weighed myself for a fortnight so might not be comparing to my maximum but I have only lost 8lb. I would have thought a 7Lb 1oz baby + amniotic fluid + placenta etc weighed more than that... Oh well, I won't look again for a few months. I was just interested to see. Turns out I wasn't "all baby" after all!

Oral thrush hasn't gone, my tongue is very white and sore still and my face is flushed, now I have bitten the side it is even worse, I think I will try to get a prescription for something else as the drops I was prescribed aren't working and I want to eat my baby's gorgeous little hands without spreading it.

GTbaby · 23/10/2013 19:45

Sanj after 24hours with a pessary in I was 1cm. Told id have to wait 24hours for next lot of gels to go in. I was very Confused as I wanted to get on with it.
Oh dear I can't remember how long the nxt stage lasted! Lol still have baby brain.
But basically I didn't need the gel as I start progressing and contractions became regular.
Pessary went in tues at 11pm and lo here Thursday at 8pm.
So you may still speed up Grin

Mnippy · 23/10/2013 20:10

shooting, my DH keeps disappearing to do work emails. Plus he is cutting his paternity leave short to 'soften' the going back. Hmm

Warlin · 23/10/2013 20:39

clapham that's awful! I'd def fake some reduced movement or go to your gp and ask for a sweep. The sweep worked for me but I was told if it didn't work within 72 hours to go to my gp for another one. So you could go to your gp and say mw sent you.....Wink

Warlin · 23/10/2013 20:42

sanj good luck, things can change v quickly. Hope you get going soon

GTbaby · 23/10/2013 20:48

Had lo 3weeks ago. Can I start using normal sanitary pads now?

roofio87 · 23/10/2013 20:58

orange are they nystatin drops for the thrush? I get it all the time and those don't even touch it. miconazole gel is better and fluconozole tablets even better, not sure about those and bf though!!
gt I've been using normal sanitary towels since about day 4 as my flow hasn't been that heavy.

Haylebop12 · 23/10/2013 21:01

Evening all

dd in bed and Isaac fed and settled so finally found time to post.

Congrats to all the new mummies, hope your enjoying your lovely quishy newborns.

rox I could have written your post about nappies yesterday. We went through 5 in 4 hours and 3 of them were in half an hour. Its like he was waiting for a new nappy to continue! I might be saving money on formula but I need it for the extra nappies!!

flyer how are things today? Hows feeding going?

Sanji I really hope things speed up for you. Clapham Also for you and anyone else SFW. I cant imagine how fustrating it is Sad

orange glad your LO didnt lose 13-14lb! Grin

Glad you got sorted taking you must feel rotten. What is mastitis caused by? Is it just over supply?

Isaac's new name is fat boy slim. Hes been weighed today. Last wednesday he was 7lb 15, so HV was pleased as he had put on 6oz. This week he has weighed in at 9lb! thats 1lb 1oz in a week. He did seem extra hungry saturday and yesterday though so definitely think its just a growth spurt. Ive pulled some 0-3 stuff out for him to try. He also got referred for an extra hearing test as he failed the one in neonatal for his right ear but pleased to report he passed and theres nothing wrong.

Apart from being knackered I'm pleased I'm coping ok with everything. I was getting worried towards the end that I would struggle to sort out DD for school, get her to school, cook her tea, bath her etc but realised its all about time management and even my house doesnt look too bad! Had a fair few teary moments still but reckon its 50% the exhaustion and not all hormones/baby blues.

Im being a bad mummy and leaving Isaac friday evening to go and see Sean Lock. Ive not left him yet although he will be with DH. Looking forward to it but know I'll be eagar to get home!
