Hey, happy birthday AliOh! Last birthday pre-mumhood or are you a veteran?

Cupcake, my first MW appointment is in two weeks' time and scan three weeks after. DH and I very excited but also trying not to get too invested just yet...quite challenging isn't it?

How're all the 7 weekers feeling? I'm mainly thirsty, a bit sneezy and ever so slightly nauseous/crampy. Hardly feels real!

Secondly...has anyone's GP given them an actual blood test? Mine said it wasn't necessary if the POAS method came up positive (twice), but I can't help but wonder if it would be wise to rely on something more...official?

loopylou52 · 10/10/2013 20:25

Hi Maybies!

Welcome and congrats to the new ones and congrats to isean on your scan! Smile

magpie - have you tried sugary snacks around the time you start feeling bad? Not sure it's the same but I find I suddenly start getting really tired and feel weak and sick and having a decent snack and a sugary drink helps. A pack of salt and vinegar McCoys and a bottle of cherry coke were my saviour for my 2 hour commute the other day.

Sorry to not name check anyone else - I'm struggling to keep up! I don't think we'll be finding out the gender either. I've always imagined myself having a girl but am trying to convince myself it's a boy so it doesn't come as too much of a shock iyswim. We also haven't got very far with name discussions yet - I think it'll start feeling more real and we'll start planninf stuff once we get into the next trimester.

Cupcake1985 · 10/10/2013 20:38

elasti I'm jealous my midwife appointment is 2 weeks 5 days away and no scan yet - I was told the midwife will book it soon after the meeting. Hope that's true! Not many symptoms just tired, sore boobs, bit thirsty. Nothing to scream woman with child

thistlelicker · 10/10/2013 21:13

My dating is a week today, I'll be 12+2 Grin

BoogiesBunny · 10/10/2013 21:27

I have a feeling ours might be a boy, but then when I imagine a little girl it could be that too! I'd love either but a mini-DH would be too cute for words!! There are lots of girls in our families though. Either way, we won't find out. The only thing is that when I was only 12 I spotted my little brother's willy on the ultrasound - so if it's that obvious we can't help but find out!

Elast nope my Dr didn't do a blood test - just took my word for it.

It is so good to hear that some of you are beginning to feel much more normal - for those of you who aren't brighter days are just around the corner.

Maternity jeans arrived this morning - you were all right as they are a revelation! I love them! Still a bit early to wear them I think but I have a little bump appearing - DH noticed it yesterday and I just said 'no it's fat' but now I'm not so sure - it's definitely a bulge in a particular spot (rather than general spread around the middle) - very excited about having a bump - might make it seem real, as otherwise it just doesn't.

Welcome back vikki!

thistlelicker · 10/10/2013 21:38

I think girl hubby thinks boy, but I don't care as we know this is our only baby

Chip86 · 10/10/2013 22:38

Boogies i dont think your asking for a lot. I told her i had no symptoms and she said i was lucky, i said i was worried and she just said you have had no bleeding so dont worry, but i will worry any way hehehe

Chip86 · 10/10/2013 22:52

impatientlywaiting · 10/10/2013 22:59

Nearly forgot to say - Happy Birthday AliOh.

I'll definitely be finding out if it's a girl or boy. I think part of me thinks its a girl (which is what I always said I wanted). Now I'm actually pregnant I really don't mind if it's a boy, but think I'll need time to get used to it, as I kind of can't imagine me having a boy.

I think we actually might pay for a scan at 16 weeks as I can't wait to know.

That's all being well of course. I'm a bit worried as I feel like my very few symptoms are disappearing - boobs don't feel as achey and all my crampy/stretchy feelings seem to have stopped. Trying to tell myself that rationally it's probably fine, but there is always a part of me that worries.

thistlelicker · 10/10/2013 23:01

Today I been having niggles
High up in my belly!!! Any ideas ?

rebeccax2 · 11/10/2013 05:01

Arghhh! I can't seem to ever get through the night. I'm collapsing in bed exhausted at 9:30, walking up to pee a couple of times and then by 4am I'm awake and it's over :-(

I guess it's a good preparation...

bouncysmiley · 11/10/2013 07:10

I think boy but only because my me has been so hideous and last time very little ms resulted in a girl. Welcome to all the new maybies and good luck moomin

AliOh · 11/10/2013 07:28

Thanks elasti yes last birthday pre mum hood :) always said I wanted to be pregnant before 25 so just about got my wish :) also my GP never even asked me to POAS just took my word for it when I said that I'd taken 5 HPTs :)

Also thanks impatiently my symptoms too have done a runner! Have got my booking appointment on Monday so will mention it to my midwife then - did I really get away with only a couple of weeks worth of nausea?!

Chocolate all round for everyone because I got loads this morning :) also a lovely card off DP that made me cry because he'd obviously but a lot of effort into what he wrote in it and he's not the most romantic/affectionate/hearts and flowers kind of person :) also he casually mentioned yesterday that he'd forgotten to get me a card (wouldn't of surprised me as he did last year!) so I genuinely wasn't expecting anything.

Magpie78 · 11/10/2013 07:39

Thank Loopylou I love an idea that features McCoys!
elasti I am 6 + 6 today but have had a scan and some blood tests so far and going to the next scan today at 9:15. Tbh it hadn't made me feel any more pregnant......think I am still in shock!
Symptom-wise apart from the constant nausea I still have on off cramps pains front and back, really painful bbs and most recently nipples that make me look like a porn star Blush rather embarrassing when I noticed them at work!

thistlelicker · 11/10/2013 08:13

All the best for scan magpie

hamncheese · 11/10/2013 08:16

rebecca exactly the same at night here :( I feel so uncomfy. Its so annoying all I want to do is sleep but can't.

Will put a pic of my scan on my profile when I have one all being well.

shanks313 · 11/10/2013 08:16

8+3 today and woken up period type aches .. Had 2 kids but can't remember if this is normal.
Can it be because period would be due now?
Apart from that and worrying constantly everything else seems to be okay. Not much sickness at all. Can't wait till midwife next week

BoogiesBunny · 11/10/2013 08:33

Happy Brithday ali - enjoy the chocolate mountain!

thistle what are the niggles like? I'm sure they are just things stretching and moving around down there.

impatiently my very few symptoms have also gone, although spots seem to have remained. I'm worried too - but I'm trying to remind myself that we're all going to worry no matter what, and the odds are that everything is perfectly fine (repeat over and over...).

loopylou52 · 11/10/2013 08:38

Happy birthday AliOh and good luck to those with scans today.

Impatiently you're quite far along aren't you? So maybe getting to the point where the symptoms die down a bit ready for all that blossoming in the second trimester. Smile

Xavielli · 11/10/2013 08:50

Happy Birthday AliOh

impatientlywaiting · 11/10/2013 08:53

Thanks everyone, I think I just felt a stretchy twinge so hopefully I'm just being a bit paranoid.

It's so easy to do isn't it?

I'm 11 weeks today which makes me the size of a fig. Just called my hospital as I hadn't received my appointment for dating scan yet, and I've got an app a week on Monday when I'll be 12+3. Can't wait/terrified.

thistlelicker · 11/10/2013 08:59

They like a dull period pain!! I'm just paranoid

bushprincess · 11/10/2013 09:10

morning girls!

vikks and magpie looking forward to hearing the good news from your scans today!!

thistle love your name - a cousin recently called her daughter Isla and I think it's just gorgeous!

DH and I haven't talked names yet but I'm hoping for a celtic theme - he's welsh and I'm cornish so something that reflects the beans heritage would be great!

I've no idea (or preference) either way re flavor, though DH has been convinced from the off that it's a girl! We're definitely going to find out though... (assuming little bean is co-operative enough to assume a good viewing position!) we reckon there are enough surprises ahead that one less won't hurt!!

Hope everyone has a good day, and for all whos symptoms are fading this must surely be a sign of our slow progression towards the 'blooming' bit!!
