So weird you lot are on about cookies - DS and I made a huge batch of very naughty chocolate peanut cookies this afternoon!

These: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1769/allamerican-chocolate-chunk-cookies

Proper bad ass cookies these are.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 04/10/2013 17:37

The custard powder is just for flavour, yes. Chuck in some vanilla essence instead, should do nicely!
I'll put the recipe on here tonight when I get home - it's SO easy (from an old Asda cookbook) and really good results.

COOKIES FOR EVERYONE!

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 17:41

Can't wait. I'm going to Sainsbury's right now before I pick up DH to get some custard powder!

Angelesque · 04/10/2013 18:04

Oh HELLO WEEKEND, you lovely lovely bundle of loveliness Grin

Quite fancy baking some cookies this weekend now... Yum!

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 18:15

OMG I go out for a few hours and come back to....COOKIES! Grin Yum! If only I had some real ones.....Sad

mrsg & (cant remember who else said this) my lower bump and side bump have been hurting on and off the last few days, but had put it down to ligaments and uterus growing.... No harm in checking with midwife though, esp as u have a combination of pains....

MrsVDB · 04/10/2013 19:06

mrsg that was the main reason I went to midwife as have pain on and off for last few weeks under my bump on the left, like a tight stabby pain? I also have the lower back pain. Ive mentioned it to the midwife and doctor and neither were concerned but Id definitely give them a ring if youre worried. It did make me feel better having her tell me everythings ok

Frizz1986 · 04/10/2013 19:09

space so glad idris has made a good impression on the docs Smile

Mmmm cookies.
My go to for recipes is hummingbird bakery. I have the book, but just google it if I'm out and about. They are proper gooey american style (although i dont really like peanut butter so tend to just let others eat them). I use it for my cakes and frostings too as have always found them really easy and delish.

Toothfairy78 · 04/10/2013 19:23

Evening folks!

Thank goodness this weeks over! I'm tired! Boooooo to bosses who pile way too much onto the overworked pregnant ladies. May they suffer endlessly embarrassing itches at the most inopportune moments and ugly zits upon their noses. May your flies or blouse buttons come undone during important presentations and interviews. This is my curse upon you cuntpuffin bosses!

Well done to idris for peeing on the dr, nice shot!

frizz I'm taking 7-8 months mat leave, looking to get jr in nursery around May/june timeframe, but advice we had from friends was to get on the books early. Thought there was no harm looking.

So, sounds like you're all busy baking then? Sounds yummy! Might have another crack at slow cooker bread tonight, seeing as you've inspired me! Maybe if I set a timer I could do cinnamon bread for breakfast tomorrow morning...

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 19:28

Yes, Frizz! I have that book too and I'd forgotten their cookie recipe was so good. And their banana bread is great, too.

extracrunchy · 04/10/2013 19:31

My boss keeps going on holiday and I'm training 3 new people before I go on leave as well as usual job. So stressed!

Hilariously, he also suggested today that a bit of gentle data entry to help the admin team might be a nice distraction during early labour. He wasn't actually joking - framed it like a nice diversion for me - but I just laughed in his face.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 04/10/2013 19:46

Right - oat cookies:

115g margarine (butter is fine too, but marg is cheaper and tastes the same in this recipe Grin)
115g caster sugar
115g SR flour
3 tbsp custard powder (if not using, maybe up flour amount a little and add vanilla)
2 tbsp golden syrup
45g rolled oats (I use Scott's porridge oats).

Preheat oven to 180 C.
Mix everything together, and roll into walnut sized balls. Lay on baking sheets (not lined, doesn't seem to work as well ) which are greased and bake for about 12-15 mins.
Makes about 20 cookies.

Enjoy ladies!

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 19:49

extra and tooth I am training two people to take over from me, plus another 6 people along with my own stuff before I go off which is stressing me out, BUT I should be able to start delegating some bits to my replacements at the end of October....

More cookie talk....dribble! Just watching australian masterchef.....more dribbling! Grin

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 19:51

humptydumptybumpty! Yep, its full name time! I know what is going on my shopping list for tomorrow.....Grin Grin Grin

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 20:01

Deffo SR flour, not plain? Just checking!

I shall be making these tomorrow, thanks, Humpty! They sound delicious. I shall be using butter, though. Margarine does not cross the threshold of my house :o

Frizz1986 · 04/10/2013 20:03

Omg sultana i love australian masterchef.
We shall be watching it on the record in a minute Smile
We only started it a season and a half ago, but when we went to oz last year we ate at an awesome restaurant in Sydney which had photos of the judges with the chefs on the wall showing off the famous faces who have eaten there. Me and dh were so excited lol.

BandontheFun · 04/10/2013 20:06

Hi waves

Mind if I join in. New to this whole Mumsnet thing, but have just read the last two threads and have found it very reassuring that most of u guys seem to be freaking out as much as I am! Can't believe baby's are being born already....that didn't freak me out al all! Glad everything's ok Space.

Baby's due on the 6th Jan, team yellow, so far no major issues just the tummy pain that some of you guys have had as well, MW told me it's all normal, apparently just stretching, nice to hear a professional say it tho. Doesn't have the same ring coming from the husband...what does he know! Wink

Very jealous about all the choc chip ice cream talk, allergic to diary so it's no go for me, but luckily no heartburn yet! :)

Angelesque · 04/10/2013 20:25

Hi Band! Yes, my current freak out is mainly an utter inability to choose a pushchair... But there's a new one every day! Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 04/10/2013 20:43

Yup, SR flour. I know it seems weird, but I've never done it with plain and it works. They go a bit...lacy, IYSWIM, but they are delish.

extracrunchy · 04/10/2013 20:57

Hi Band! Smile

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 21:04

frizz I have missed half of this series, but I love it! Their challenge tonight was harddddd! I am shit at creating without a recipe!

band whenever DH says "Im sure its normal" I think the same as u! I know he is trying to make me feel better, but he hasnt read any books or anything so this is pure guessing on his part! Hmm

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 21:18

Hi Band :) You've just reminded me I forgot to buy mint choc chip :(

Will trust you, Humpty, and go with SR :o

MrsGSR · 04/10/2013 21:29

Hi band!

Loads of good recipes and ideas on here! Next week will be spent baking :)

I tried ringing the midwife but couldn't get through, so rang nhs 111, which was surprisingly quite good! They got me an emergency appointment with the local out of hours who did a quick urine test and diagnosed a 'bad uti', so I'm back on antibiotics. DH had bought me some chocolate and is letting me spend the evening watching Castle :)

MrsVDB · 04/10/2013 21:35

Hi band

frizz we spent 7 months in aus last year and got into Australian masterchef, ate at George's restaurant in Melbourne which was very tasty!

Your all doing so well with the baking. I've had French stick and butter for dinner as dh is out. But realised I've got through 250g tub of butter since Sunday! Oops! I've hid it in the fridge so I can throw it away after a more appropriate time! Secret eaters here I come!

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 21:40

mrsg thats great they saw u and sorted u asap! Sorry u have a bad uti tho - that sucks!

Sultanajo · 04/10/2013 21:44

mrsv secret eaters! I hid my mcdonalds chip packet in the bottom of the bin today! Blush I did have a mega healthy dinner followed by an orange, but I felt shameful popping to the drivethru at lunchtime on my way to meet my mate! Blush

Does anyone else have that "ahhhhh" feeling getting undressed at night, particularly while taking your bra off? Just bliss getting it off! Am beginning to wonder if I have gone up another back size which would be depressing.....Shock
