band I had one at 16 weeks and one at 25, next one is at 31 weeks, it doesn't sound like you've had less, they've just been at different times. Might be another thing that varies area to area?

MrsAVB · 11/10/2013 16:41

It's the weeeeeeekend! I have had a highly productive day, yippee!
blue very impressed with your list. I have made one too but it's not as specific. Although slightly more specific than humpty's "baby stuff" Grin. Slightly Envy of those of you with more mat leave before baby comes! I've decided to work til 8 days before... Which will all be Christmas week so not much potential for getting stuff done. But I'm hoping I've made the right decision to have more time afterwards.
Lasinoh is on offer on ocado at the mo.
puggle I have my eye on some nighties in primark, they are red tartan (good for erm...stains) and button through, not mat but seem quite spacious... Prob too hot for actual labour but look nice and snuggly for afterwards.
band I had a 25 week appointment but not a 22 week one, before that I hadn't seen anyone (except sonographer) since week 16. From 25 weeks it's every 3 weeks with first baby here.
X

Sultanajo · 11/10/2013 17:25

humpty loving the way you have prioritised your list! Grin My mate actually asked me today if I had packed my hospital bag yet. Ummmm no.....gonna sort it when am on mat leave me thinks.....

Had a great time cuddling my mates 5 month old little boy and she brought me some bits for bubs which was lovely of her....Grin

BandontheFun · 11/10/2013 17:25

Phew....Thanks MrsAVB and MrsGSR must just be the different areas. Thought I was being a irresponsible pregnant lady there! :)

One of my friends only went to like 3 MW appointments with her first baby!! Ended up almost having a mini stroke so I'm a tad para about missing any!

AnotherStitchInTime · 11/10/2013 17:36

I have only had an appointment at the same time as my 20 week scan and then my next is at 28 weeks when I have my next scan. In my area first time mums get a 25 week appointment, but if you have already had one child then you get less frequent appointments.

TobyLerone · 11/10/2013 17:48

I've had loads. My MW made a point of seeing me at 25 weeks. In fact, I've had 3-weekly appointments with someone or other (scan, consultant, MW) all the way through. I guess I must be higher risk.

MrsVDB · 11/10/2013 17:51

I got asked if I've thought about schools yet the other day.... Ummm no..., I don't even have a baby yet!!

Bluecarrot · 11/10/2013 17:52

Humpty - add if you want but stick nipple cream on it too!

Since things with DP are a bit rocky, and he would t really be great at picking stuff up I feel I'm probably gonna need to bring everything in with me. DP doesn't drive so we won't have the option to leave stuff in the car either! ( though my mum or dad will bring us and pick us up... Just wont be staying at the hospital.

Was at la leche league today. Didn't really learn anything new but omg, my boobs hurt with the little babies crying! Putting the breast pads through 2 washed tonight as I've a feeling ill need to start wearing them soon. I leaked from 22 weeks with dd.

The midwife sitting beside me ( with 3 month old bundle of gorgeousness) said she started hand expressing milk from 36 weeks and she reckons it helped. Not sure of its what ill do but thought I'd mention it.

Bluecarrot · 11/10/2013 17:56

MrsVBD I have thought about schools! Though only as I switched dd from school a to school b, however, school a is getting a new principal so its in the running as a potential. ( a is academic, b is more holistic but generally "rougher" and constantly fretting over DDs peer group and the pressure from them.

TobyLerone · 11/10/2013 17:58

Schools?! I don't even know where I'll be birthing it!

enjoyingscience · 11/10/2013 18:00

Hi all, gosh I've missed loads. There must have been some naughty swearing somewhere on the fucking thread, as I can't access this one at work!

I'm going to pack a bag at 34 weeks, as I'll need to take it up north for Xmas just in case. Might refer back to yours blue, but I'm sure I'll end up forgetting all sorts of stuff regardless of list quality. I thought I was doing well for buying a pack of maternity pads already. Oh well!

I'm rh- too, so am booked in for anti d at 30 weeks. I needed extra doses because of bleeds last time, so I'm glad I've avoided it this time. It's quite an ouchy injection. When I next see actual mw I'll be 29 weeks, and won't have seen her since 16 weeks. I think they get a lot more frequent after this though.

enjoyingscience · 11/10/2013 18:08

Oh, and can I please join the secret fb please? Do I need to PM humpy?

Frizz1986 · 11/10/2013 18:20

Wow blue you are mega organised.
I normally am mega organised but havent been prepared at all since getting pregnant. I was all prepared for the ttc part!
Am planning on googling a basic what i need to take list and packing at about 30 weeks or so.

The cold has got me. Feel so rotten today and just want a big fat takeaway but its not on the budget list.

Percypiglet · 11/10/2013 18:32

Hello hello, 25 wk appmt today even though 26 weeks tomorrow (where did that time go?!) and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time - was AMAZING!!!!

The list of things to pack scared me and made me laugh at once. I'll never get there with all that stuff!! I will be packing in December too as frankly will never get organised until on mat leave!

Have a fab weekend all.

Toothfairy78 · 11/10/2013 18:51

Evening all. TFI Friday! This week has has been a right load of!

Anyway, I got off work early today and bought myself a new coat from H&M! It's a dark navy cavernous coat with loads of bump space, but it's a regular size 14. Am planning to layer my merino cardi under it for winter. This was necessary as my nice Aquascutum mac no longer does up, which was the last of my coats to still fit me til this week. Eek!

Re: Hospital bag, was thinking of taking advantage of one of those Bounty offers that come up every so often to get a pre packed bag (cos you get a bag out of it) and topping it up with items from my Pregnancy HD list. What do you reckon?

Also, I have no nighties either. This is what DH's T shirt drawer is for surely?

flyawayblue · 11/10/2013 19:41

very impressed with your list and packing blue, I've thought about it but not got any further. haven't even written anything ... so feeling a bit behind now!

Think I'll be raiding dh's old shirts for post delivery as they should be comfy plus easy for breastfeeding.

So glad it is the weekend now :) we're off to look at rocking chairs and shoes tomorrow. Need some without laces as starting to get uncomfortable to do laces up.

Its odd how different healthcare trusts do things differently. I also had a long gap between 16 and 25 weeks - felt quite detached. Though I've yet to see the same midwife twice so that's not helping!

Once I'm off my phone will pm humpty for the facebook group details :)

Percypiglet · 11/10/2013 19:48

I haven't seen the same midwife yet either! Am no more hormonal or moody than before (!) but have a brain/memory like a sieve, so absentminded it's awful.

Percypiglet · 11/10/2013 19:52

oh yeah, humpty can you pm me too as want to join the secret facebook group but dont know how to pm on here... see, absentmindedness, keep forgetting to ask...

BandontheFun · 11/10/2013 20:02

I have a regular midwife although she was on holiday last time so maybe the last midwife thought it wasn't my first! But yeah fly kinda know what you mean about feeling detached!

I'm refusing to buy a coat, I hate wearing them and never do them up anyway so hoping the ones I have will be ok with a think jumper. :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/10/2013 20:05

blue ace - thank you! Have added nipple cream and uploaded to the Documents section of the Fb group. You are a star!

percy yay for hb! I loved hearing mine at 25 weeks, it's such an awesome thing.

tooth well done on the mat coat. I just had to go with an old jacket, but open at the front, today. Not ideal. I'm not spending 75 squid on a coat for 2 fecking months though.

enjoying have PM'd you (I hope). Also band

Haven't thought about schools here at all. Not least because we'll probably move again after a year or so. Otherwise, there's a primary opposite the new house we've just rented - maybe we'll strike lucky and find it's magically an Outstanding Ofsted school Grin. Fat chance.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/10/2013 20:09

percy, PM'd you.

flyawayblue · 11/10/2013 20:18

Humpty PM'd you for the facebook group :)

percy glad to hear others haven't always seen the same midwife, thought I may be an oddity as people I've spoken to in other areas have named midwife's and they always see the same one..

I'm torn on coats, Only one of my does up at all now and it's starting to get really cold but it's a lot of money for a few months. Question for non first timers - do they get any use after you've given birth or is it really just two months use?

Also realised how bad my phone is for typing - sorry for the horrendous typo's over the last month!

MrsVDB · 11/10/2013 20:36

I bought a maternity coat from new look today. It's a grey smartish one. It keeps selling out quickly but worth keeping an eye on website. Only £40 :)

MrsVDB · 11/10/2013 20:40

Here's the link to it

coat

Toothfairy78 · 11/10/2013 20:47

Wow, mrsV that's not bad. I paid £34.99 for mine but it's not a proper mat coat.

Figured if my biggest coat doesn't do up now and I have to get through til January, may as well buy one now and get some use out of it.

I also ordered one of these www.mumsnet.com/reviews/toys-and-gifts/toys-and-games/11750-galt-playnest-and-gym today. It was a bounty half price bargain and my mate swears by em.
