So good to hear your hard work has paid off and the milk has come in space! FlowersPainful and irritating as it is, it must also be really nice. Hope your meeting with the consultant goes well, please let us know how Idris is doing.

Sultana, I think I'm missing something with the pee pots here. If you're able to reuse them, does that mean the midwife gives you your pee back? Hmm I don't think I'd deal with that very well...

Naturegirl82 · 07/10/2013 12:20

altered my midwife doesn't even take my sample off me! I open the pot and she dips her stick. It does help that I have my appointments at home though.

Made it to London without boiling alive! Just waiting for my boss now so I can eat lunch but if he isn't here in the next 10 mins I'll be eating without him!

Naturegirl82 · 07/10/2013 12:21

Glad your milk has come in space. Good luck for your consultant appointment

Frizz1986 · 07/10/2013 12:55

Yay for milk space Hope consultants goes well too.

Happy bday altered and toby

Only had a brownie so far so been quite good. Having lentil and sausage stew for lunch so plenty of space left for after lunch!

sultana I have the same pee pot from my first appointment!! The midwife opens it, dips it and gives it back! Then I am left carrying pee around with me all day. Yay.

Have no idea what anyone else has said so general Sad for anyone having problems or niggles and Smile for all the happy things.
Will try and catch up properly tonight!

Mythreeknights · 07/10/2013 13:16

Hi all, just thought I'd let you know that despite being farily Hmm good at my kegels, I still managed to leak significantly whilst playing "What's the Time Mr Wolf" with my children and some other kids...through pants and into my jeans!!! Horrific. Now I am squeezing the whole flipping time.

Hi Space great to have an update from you - look forward to hearing more later once you've had your mtg. Glad boobies are productive.

Is anyone flying at about 28/29 weeks? I've got to get to London and can't figure out if I'd be better off on the train or not. I do look massive.

MrsAVB · 07/10/2013 14:33

Hahaha... three! I shall be avoiding all children's games for the foreseeable future. And squeezing of course.
I think you can fly up til 36 weeks, but there is a point after which you're supposed to have a doctors note... I think this depends on the airline though?
Yay for working boobies space, hope it goes well with consultant.

MrsGSR · 07/10/2013 14:49

Happy birthday altered and toby!

Glad your milk had come in space :)

I can't remember who asked, but it's me with the uti. Feeling a lot better today, still some back ache but no where near as bad as it was during the weekend :)

Going to make a massive today for tea as we had take out yesterday, very excited :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/10/2013 15:24

Happy Birthday altered and toby! Cake

Yay for milk coming in space, hope the consultant's appt goes well.

Day off today - went to Bravissimo, am same cup and back size, but a different style has made all the difference! £58 lighter, but so much comfier.
Had a belated birthday lunch with DH - steak. Yum.

Random question - does anyone have an iPad or Google Nexus 7 or similar - I'm weighing up which one to get, and concerned about being locked into iTunes if I go for the iPad - downloading tv/films seems horrifically expensive, and I'm intending to use it for that sort of thing while bf'ing. Any advice ladies?

Sultanajo · 07/10/2013 15:36

Mythree I can just imagine you peeing yourself playing that game! OMG, laughed so hard then I nearly peed myself! Ironic! Grin I think re: flying - it is possibly after 28 weeks you need a GP letter - or perhaps that's just for certain airlines....? It's worth checking if you do decide to fly - there would be nothing worse than getting to check in and them deciding they won't take you!

Altered I am the same as nature and frizz - I open the pot, MW dips her stick in it and I am then left to carry it around with me. The only reason I don't have my original pot still is because I forgot about it and realised A WEEK later I had been carrying my pot of pee around in my bag! I couldn't face opening it so chucked it away! Blush

I bought a pack of 5 this time, just so I have options and spares! These ones have wider tops also so should hopefully make peeing into them an easier task! Fed up with peeing on my hand in the process! Teehee!

Sultanajo · 07/10/2013 15:46

Humpty I have an iPad Mini (or baby iPad as I call it!). I looked at TONS of small tablets when I was considering replacing my kindle and after checking reviews etc. I went with the iPad and I haven't looked back! I love it! The clarity of the screen is superb and you can get some bargain films through iTunes which I have done in the past. It's great my memory is fading for things like films as it means I can watch films again without remembering what happened. Watched a couple of chick flicks yesterday in fact - The Killers with Katherine Heigel and Friends with Benefits. (Going slightly off on a tangent...).

MrsAVB · 07/10/2013 16:55

I have an iPad for mumsnet, Facebook, online shopping work, I do love it muchly and am not looking forward to wiping its memory handing it over while I'm on mat leave. But I don't use it for films so not much help to you humpty, sorry!
mrsg glad you're feeling better.

Naturegirl82 · 07/10/2013 16:56

mythree a lot of the airlines require a fit to fly after 28 weeks. I've flown with a few different airlines recently and that was mostly the date. Some are awkward though and require their specific form filled in no more than 2 weeks before.

I am absolutely shattered. Meeting went well but was basically a grilling but think I did ok out of it. Sat with a coffee and a brownie now waiting for my train back up north. Booked a later train vas every meeting I've been to recently has over run and this one finished 30 minutes early. Grrrr.

When I had my last appointment at the hospital I just emptyed my pee pot in the loo afterwards so was just carrying round an empty pot rather than one full of pee Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 07/10/2013 17:04

I (well dh I suppose) have an iPad and you can get films from lots of places (check what apps are available), Netflix for example.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 07/10/2013 17:06

Three we have both iPad and Nexus7 in this house. Nexus is DH's though and I'm not allowed to play, so I don't know much about it, but I can ask for you. I use the iPad for iPlayers on BBC etc and it works well for that. I've only ever downloaded Charlie and sodding Lola from Apple though, and yes it does work out more expensive from them than say, ordering the DVD from Amazon.

I thought I had the best pelvic floor on earth after suffering precisely zero pant-related problems after first pregnancy/birth. Oh, how things change. Smugness gone. Sneeze paranoia - in for the duration. Sad

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 07/10/2013 17:11

Oh and also, why is everyone carrying their pee around!? Do you not just do it there and then and and hand it over? I'm overseas so our pee system must be different.

I am DEFINITELY the type that would find it in their handbag three week later too! Brilliant.

Sultanajo · 07/10/2013 17:30

Oh yes - netflix too! We have a subscription and I have the app on the iPad - have used that quite a lot also which is awesome!

Only no, over here we have to pee in advance and take with us and it sounds as though most of us have to take it back with us. Nice!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/10/2013 17:49

only ooh, if you could ask DH about the Nexus, that would be ace. I'm pretty well leaning towards iPad, but it is £100 more...

sultana is it okay watching tv/films on the mini? I am leaning towards the full size, but happy to be convinced that the smaller/cheaper one is just as good!

MrsGSR · 07/10/2013 18:11

My midwife takes the container off me and throws it away after. She's usually quite good at giving me a new one each time but forgot last week. I'll have to see if I can get a spare when I go to the GP to check the infection has gone.

alteredimages · 07/10/2013 18:14

humpty I have a samsung tab 10.1 and a google nexus 4 phone. I would definitely go for the ipad if you're at all interested in apps, especially for kids down the line, and I much prefer the reading experience on the ipad too.

I don't much care for the samsung but love the google phone (which DH has sadly nicked). I would never again buy an android device unless it was a google one because I find the extra stuff the manufacturers put on the device really affects performance and you end up waiting an age for updates.

I have a ten inch tablet, and I think if it had been purely for me, I would have preferred a seven inch version, as I find it weighs my handbag down a bit and is generally annoying. However, the ten inch is much better for DD (3) who has completely appropriated it and everyone except me thinks it's hers. She has been using it in different ways since she was 18 months.

In your position I would go for the ipad because it is generally a cleaner, less buggy experience and there is much more choice in terms of apps.

alteredimages · 07/10/2013 18:16

Oh, and I am so glad I am not in the UK. There is no way I would cope with DD and a pot of pee on the bus. I can imagine the state of my handbag now....aargh!

Here we do the peeing at the lab/surgery too.

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 07/10/2013 18:22

No problem Humpty. He says for watching movies he might opt for the Nexus 10 for the bigger screen size, but the Nexus 7.2 is a 'great bit of kit', better processor etc. He doesn't use it for, ahem, Legitimate downloads, so doesn't know too much about the Play store.

I'm trying to get him to fiddle with our router as at the minute we can't get the wifi upstairs. I've images of lounging in bed with a serene, peaceful milk-drunk newborn whilst I catch up on downtown on the iPad. Let's review this image end of January!

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 07/10/2013 18:27

Altered glad we don't have to pre-pee here either! Not organized enough for that, I can barely get me and willful, floppy legged DD out the door as it is!

BookTart · 07/10/2013 18:27

So much talk about wee :) I bought some pots in anticipation of not being given one, but I get a new one every time. I'm meant to just wee on a little strip and give it back to the mw, but I am rubbish and always miss the bit I am supposed to wee on Blush

I hope you've had fantastic birthdays toby and altered, and yay for your milk coming in space. How is the little dude doing? I hope the meeting with Idris' consultant went well.

I got a call from the hospital today to ask whether I can go in on Wednesday for my growth scan. I only got referred on Friday, so at least I don't have long to wait for some news! She seems okay at the moment I think. DP says that he can feel her moving sometimes when I can't, so I have decided that I have no nerve endings in my uterus, and that birth will therefore be a doddle Grin.

Frizz1986 · 07/10/2013 18:45

humpty i have an ipad and love it and use it all the time (was rather annoyed at first as dh got it for me a few xmas's ago but the budget was supposed to be £30. I looked like an idiot when i handed over a razor)

Anyway we have been known to be naughty and get some movies a sneaky way and you can get programs on your computer to change them into the correct file type to work on the ipad. Not that i would condone anything like that.......

So cakes went down well at work but it has been a bit of a manic day and am covering for a different person again tomorrow. Really need to train myself to slow down on the work front as went in and started over an hour early this morning to make sure i was on top of everything (and i plan on doing the same tomorrow)
Oh well the boss commented today that she is terrified of next year with me not being there which makes me feel nice. She finally realised today that there is only 11 weeks until i go and we haven't even begun training on my work (its taken me months to get to the standard where my boss can just let me get on with it)

Percypiglet · 07/10/2013 19:11

oopsie, after a fairly good weekend I have eaten a whole share bag of minstrels whilst on mumsnet...400 calories in one hit before dinner! My only excuse is that I am still ill with sore throat and cough that has now turned into a cold. Am also in fear of sneezing!
