Thank you all for all my birthday wishes - I had a lovely day Smile and I hope your ds did too pinkforboys xx

Sounds like you had a lovely day too Roofio

sorry to all those struggling with toddlers - it's not easy, but I have to confess I have always taken the easy way out - particularly as bedtimes always fall on me on my own, and at times I had babies, toddlers and school age children needing their sleep. I aslo never had the energy for battles, so often didn't fight, would just sit with them, or even let them fall asleep on the sofa while I fed baby or listened to older one read or whatever.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but you do what you need to get through - and it hasn't had lasting consequences. they all went to bed decent time by school age Smile

Well done on getting to your goal legally Smile

My dd1 is fab at cake making - Ill have to remember to put the photo of the cake she made me yesterday on fb!

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 19:31

Can I just add. How much cheek do men have!! Dh just made me sort out the bottom of his trousers because and I quote 'I have a bad back' I said r u serious? I have a bad back bad stomach ache feet ache vagina ache but I still manage to do all the house work daily and look after a a stroppy 2 year old without having someone cater to my every whim... Its clear to see why women are made to carry babies- cos a man would never be able to cope

char1eston · 01/09/2013 19:32

tarlia - I'm thinking of getting dd a Shirley Hughes compendium from baby "fuffa" as she's loved reading all the books from the library.

The nigella clementine cake is really easy for anyone a bit daunted by baking. It only has 5 ingredients too and is dairy and wheat free. Not sure how to link but recipe here :-
www.nigella.com/recipes/view/clementine-cake-2559

I might just print off my birth plan from last time! I had a senior midwife last time and a student midwife. They both read it all the way through and were very supportive. I think I'm one of the few people whose birth went according to plan!

pinkforboys - that's my mum's fail safe recipe too Grin

Happy belated birthdays caz and hayle and pinkforboys ds

natalie - only putting on 1.5stone is great. I think I'm heading for 3 stones - eek! Will weigh myself in the morning.

Should we place bets as to whether legally will give birth next?

I start mat leave on Friday - yippee! Only 3 days of work left and it can't come soon enough. 36+2 today and almost have my hospital bag packed. Didn't have a birthing outfit last time as I was in the birthing pool starkers. A bit weird now in reflection but at the time I couldn't give a monkeys!!

I may have mentioned this before but I recommend taking some ice pops in to stick in the freezer at the hospital. They were AMAZING.

Hope everything's going well 34pinklady and you get to have josie home soon x

Can I run some names passed you all please? It took us 3 weeks to name dd - she is Florence Esme. On my shortlist so far I have Albert (after my dad - would be Bertie), Jesse, Iris and Minnie. When dd was born I loved Amelie too but dp wasn't keen. We don't know the sex and I can see us taking a similar amount of time to name this little one. Can you suggest other names that are in a similar vein too pls? We need all the help we can get!

Sorry for the essay!

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 19:45

char I must correct u as I'm rather proud of my weight gain its 1stone and half of a pound... Not 1.5 stones lol

Love the name Florence for dd, Jennifer goes quite nicely with Florence I think, and definately not rediculous common these days.... Now I'm having a mind blank of every other name I've ever considered lol

Tarlia · 01/09/2013 19:49

Haha at the "vagina ache" Nat. I told DP I had a really sore crotch today only to get raised eyebrows. Mine is either side and my pubic bone. I can't believe your DH made you bend down there, it's hard work with the huge belly!

char the book collection sounds fantastic. It'll be nice to work through them again post baby, maybe as your special baby free time too?

Look forward to seeing the cake, caz.

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 19:53

char what about Eleanor? Evelyn? Lydia? Matilda?

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 20:09

Charleston, I love Florence and Amelie was my top name choice, but DH vetoed for being too French, unless I gave birth prematurely while in France! Not overly keen on Minnie tbh as that is a name some people used for their private parts when I was a child (oh dear back to that again) or I think of Minnie Mouse but I like all the others and if you don't have that association then there is no problem.

Other names that were/ are on my list as we like similar names: Tabitha, Matilda, Emma, Charlotte, Lily, Sophie, Rosie, Katherine.
Oliver, Charlie, Thomas, Joshua, Harry, George.

I am really tired and have an aching back from hoovering and carrying several loads of wet washing upstairs to the tumble dryer. DH has been out playing golf today, hopefully he will appreciate all my hard work in cleaning the house and not mind that I haven't got round to making dinner...

MotherOfNations · 01/09/2013 20:16

When I asked youngest dd what gift she would like from Eliana when she's born she got very excited and said she wanted chewing gum.Grin

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 20:23

Lol nice and easy MoN x

ananikifo · 01/09/2013 20:41

Tarlia and natalie does that mean vagina ache is normal? I have a pain in the side of my groin (either both sides or usually just the right side, where baby lies) and I'm about to make a doctor's appointment about it. Sorry if that's tmi but its really bothering me and if I was comfortable complaining about it it out loud it would be my biggest complaint.

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 20:44

Sounds very simular to mine ana sometimes its one side sometimes both sometimes its quite sharp other times its a strong ache it feels like its deep inside where all the bones are if that makes sense? But its hard to explain to to sum it up to dh I always say my vagina hurts lol I also had it when I was expecting dd. the things we put up with to have a tiny pukey crying gorgeous bundle lol

ananikifo · 01/09/2013 20:47

I just hope it goes away as soon as baby comes.

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 20:56

I have groin pain which is part of the spd/pgp.
The first picture here with the red shaded areas is the same one as in the pgp booklet from my physio showing the areas pgp can affect.
here

I also I get the aching/throbbing pain inside my vagina and sometimes a sharp stabbing pain which I dont know if it is related or not, I would be interested to hear what your dr says about it. I always presume it is the baby sitting in a nerve.

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 20:59

Caz I can't see your photo on fb either Sad

Natalieand · 01/09/2013 21:04

orange the diagram of the pelvis (the right hand side diagram) is where alot of my pain is so hopefully the tips on the attachment will help me much appreciated xx

ananikifo · 01/09/2013 21:45

Thanks for the link. I think I still need to go to the doctor because I have swelling in the side that hurts more. I made DH look at it and describe it to me because I can't see down there anymore. Blush

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 21:55

Yes definitely go to the dr for diagnosis Ana.

DH made me dinner yum yum. An ottolenghi Thai green curry flavour pesto type noodle and broccoli dish. Very nice indeed, especially as I didn't make it.

Got frozen peas on my hot swollen feet. Ahh.

textbook · 01/09/2013 22:02

Happy birthday Caz - glad you've had a lovely day! Also, amazing that you've reached your September goal Legally - so so soon for you now

I feel like a whale today. Have booked a massage for Wednesday to cheer myself up - dd is back to school then so it will be my first real day of maternity leave!

I have a consultant appt tomorrow morning, hoping he will be pleased with my 1cm placenta-moving triumph Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 22:09

Good luck tomorrow textbook.

Tarlia · 01/09/2013 22:11

ana mine is def to do with my SPD, though I've no swelling that I'm aware of so def get it looked at.

Just to add to the fab hospital bag list - ?change of top and underwear, toothbrush, deodorant/freshening up kit for birth partner
? lots of change for carpark and snack machines
?flannel (and freezer bag for when wet) for over eyes/head - I LOVED this and would never have thought of it. A spare MW put it on my head and I kept it over my eyes throughout the whole pushing stage, turning it to the cool side every so often.

Wickedgirl · 01/09/2013 22:21

I have done a very simple birth plan ......... DH as birth partner, ideally a water birth and maybe gas and air......absolutely no forceps or ventouse......DH to cut the cord......baby to be given straight to me.....I'd like to breast feed.......don't mind a student midwife but absolutely no medical students. Vit k by injection........6 hour discharge

Wickedgirl · 01/09/2013 22:22

Another thing for hospital bag......give your DH a lust of people and phone numbers and the order you want them contacted in. That way, if you're not up to making phone calls yourself, you know your parents will find out before your second cousin for example!

Wickedgirl · 01/09/2013 22:23
  • list of people.....not lust. hmm
Wickedgirl · 01/09/2013 22:23

Hmm even
