Apprentice, I read t'other day that week thirteen brings with it a voracious appetite and because most folks have stopped puking this is when we can all expect to become fat bastards Smile

Where is JK10??

FrankelInFoal · 28/08/2013 18:37

Evening ladies. I just need to let you all know that I'm in love: with a pillow Grin

I bought this maternity pillow and when I got it home this evening I decided to try it out. Oh. My. God! It's the most comfortable thing ever. You all need one Grin

Hurrah for good scans and NT results. Mine should come through this week but my notes say the measurement was 1.1mm so I'm not concerned.

In other news I am extremely bloated and uncomfortable. I've been recommended to stop taking Pregnacare due to the high iron levels so am switching to Sanatogen. I'm also contemplating taking probiotics to help move things along. Any recommendations? I'm off yoghurt so it'll have to be a drink or tablets.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/08/2013 18:40

Pirates, I know when I ovulated but according to the hospital dates I conceived a whole week before ovulation. I'm having a miracle baby! Grin

rescoonetwothree · 28/08/2013 19:12

frankel i just bought this in purple glad to hear its amazing, i accidentally got it delivered to my mums though whoops...!

Lottie345 · 28/08/2013 19:12

apprentice don't beat yourself up... Gotta eat when you're hungry! My parentals took me out for lunch today and my DH now wants to go out get pizza. Ho hum I suppose I'd best oblige ;)

My mum was ridiculous today - bought me a tiny child's rocking chair. I mean seriously. It's super cute. But seriously.

Great news scanees... My scan said I was bang on what I originally thought (march 9) from my LMP tho my dr had dated Me earlier and my midwife said would be later...

Can't be very accurate tho can it? I mean my little monster was curled up in a ball for most of the scan... So getting the measurement was tricky.

Lottie345 · 28/08/2013 19:16

frankel that looks amazing. Will have to get one!

mimili · 28/08/2013 19:17

Frank I've been looking for. pillow recommendations, thanks I will be checking that out.

Apprentice I'm in west London. They are well aware I want nuchal testing which is what frustrates me. Surelu they realise people need a little notice of an appointment.

I work FT so I need to give some notice. My boss is better than most but regardless I can't rock up on a Monday and say I'll be off on the Tuesday!!

I've had some recommendations for private scans so I think I will make a decision Monday as the latest. That will put me over 12 weeks so I feel the right to shout at them will be completely justified (I can blame hormones, right?) and if not the Womans wellness centre in Fulham (I think) does next day appointments and is well rated. Right finally a plan! Just need to snap out of my mood and get back out of bed before DH gets home Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/08/2013 19:18

Looks amazing Frankel! Is it wrong to kick DH out of bed so I can have two?!

That's too cute Lottie. My mums going to be a nightmare. She has also got a list of the 50 books children should read, and apparently she's buying all of them Grin

ikab · 28/08/2013 19:33

Evening all

Fab to hear about the good scan results. Mine in 1 whole long week.

mimili I would have been pretty shouty by now. Why should you have to get a private scan because they're being crap. Its not right.

Is the pillow as mahoosive as it looks in the pic Frankel? Will I have to make a choice between it and dh!? Hhmmm...ponders...

Rockchick1984 · 28/08/2013 19:33

Ice my MIL isn't generous enough to make DH sandwiches Grin we just have the sagas of other grandchildren being more important than DS, and DH not putting his mum before his wife!

Frank I got the holland and Barrett tablets for about £10 that were being discussed on the pregnancy boards a few weeks ago (they are strawberry flavour) and they seem to have helped my digestion a lot.

Re pregnancy pillows, I had a dream genie last time, but have bought a bolster type pregnancy pillow off eBay for £7 and its loads better.

OwlinaTree · 28/08/2013 19:43

Congrats total, great news lyra

PramQueen1971 · 28/08/2013 19:44

I'm getting me one o' them there pillows, Frank. Th'usband and me sleep in separate rooms (due to his pneumatic snoring) so I have plenty of room for ginormous pillows.

FrankelInFoal · 28/08/2013 19:47

The pillow is utterly huge. If you only have a double bed it could be a tight squeeze though!

I'll have a look at those H&B tablets, thanks Rockchick. I must have not been paying attention during that discussion!

OwlinaTree · 28/08/2013 19:52

Congrats pirates

Told a few people today, was nice but a bit scary! All very pleased for us, a few tears.

Jolleigh · 28/08/2013 20:19

Bit gutted today.

Won't have a scan date until tomorrow now despite seeing another lady being given hers. They told me I'll have to start calling them tomorrow instead.

Also I may not be able to give birth in the midwife led clinic. All was going fine until the midwife calculated my BMI. Apparently I didn't lose enough before falling pregnant (which we were admittedly quite aware of anyway) and rather than everything being fantastic, I now have a consultant who has to sign off on me giving birth at the midwife clinic rather than the hospital. And from laughing at my cravings, the midwife did an about turn to lecturing me on my 5 a day and about how I should remember I'm not eating for 2.

And I almost passed out when getting blood drawn.

So, looks like giving up smoking 20 a day cold turkey, giving up drinking, cutting caffeine right down and following all the rules about my favourite foods (rare steak, soft cheese, pate, sashimi, and practically everything else we're not allowed), I've still fucked up.

I'm probably hugely overreacting. Just triggered a hormone tidal wave I suppose.

Great news about our scanees. Sorry to rant at you all. x

justmuddlingthroughit · 28/08/2013 20:30

Hi ladies, been off for a couple of days, and just spent an hour catching up on the thread! Was so sorry to hear about kat, it must just be such a dreadful thing to go through.

Congrats to all recent scannees; glad your pornographers sonographers were able to show you what you wanted to see! I've got my scan on 10th September, so still some way off; I'll be at 12 + 2 (according to the early scan), so that's just about right. Do I have any scan buddies?

Thank you to 5am for explaining the nf measurement; I didn't think I'd want it due to not wanting the invasive diagnostic tests that would follow a high risk result, but I think I will probably go for it now, so that we have as much information as we can get.

Who the hell was it who mentioned Nutella toasties? Because now I'm going to get very fat and will be all your fault. Hmm

PS: what the actual fuck is this smiley Tennis all about? I swear that wasn't there the last time I was here...

justmuddlingthroughit · 28/08/2013 20:37

jolleigh, never apologise for having a rant, it's part of what this thread's here for. X

Jolleigh · 28/08/2013 20:38

Predictably, twas me who mentioned nutella toasties...

justmuddlingthroughit · 28/08/2013 20:40

Also, those pillows look amazing, but it would necessitate DH sleeping on the sofa for the next seven months, and I have a strange feeling he'd object...

justmuddlingthroughit · 28/08/2013 20:41

Damn you, jolleigh! ~shakes fist~ Grin

rescoonetwothree · 28/08/2013 20:42

just it's the us open i think, some of my friends work at it!

we're moving the sofa bed into the bedroom so i can have the bed to myself sometimes when i get my lovely pillow Blush

rescoonetwothree · 28/08/2013 20:42

joll thats so frustrating, hopefully they'll sort their shit out soon xx

April13 · 28/08/2013 20:43

jolleigh that not good, try not to worry about it. When do you see consultant? If its later on then surely they'll monitor your weight at 16/20/24 week appts and see how you're progressing? I was told I may have to see consultant at 30 weeks, it was booked in, but I was told was optional and they'd see how i go x

I was also given a prescription for aspirin today as im atbrisk for pre-eclampsia (even though my bp is 90/60), and also booked in for my gestational diabetes test at 28 weeks. I think sometimes they are just overly cautious, which can only benefit you and baby in ing run (that's what I'm telling myself anyways!)

Jolleigh · 28/08/2013 20:56

April - they didn't actually tell me when I'd see him. It's just a hurdle I suppose. I've been overweight since I was 6 so I find it really hard to eat the way I should. On the plus side, I actually have a really good diet because I'm a bit of a foodie and cook from scratch every day. I just have bollocks portion control.

And it's only now I'm upduffed that I'm showing a liking for nutella toasties, pop tarts, fizzy drinks and crisps.

April13 · 28/08/2013 21:03

It's Sod's law x I honestly wouldn't worry too much, i found that I put on a fair few pounds at the start of my pregnancy but my weight hasn't budged in that last 6 weeks. As long as your healthy and baby is healthy that's all that matters Smile

I've been craving lashings of full fat lurpack butter and coco pops! Like you, I'm normally a good eater, watch what I'm putting in etc but with no sense of portion control I also never get full. Ever. I have found I'm not snacking anymore though!
