Space how awesome! Wow that sounds like a powerful kick!!! Many more to come no doubt! Grin

Humpty I seem to have come full circle nearly with the prams - after reading the reviews of other slightly more compact prams, their reviews don't seem to be as consistently good as the Vista and also you seem to be paying more overall for the same package. I will still give some more a try, BUT I am feeling a bit more at ease with the Vista. None of them are perfect but I reckon for all the places I perhaps won't be able to fit with the Vista, there will be another ten that I can. I can imagine London would be a no no, but as we won't be going on public transport that much where we are, there is no point in aiming to get one for that purpose. Plus it would be awesome for going out and about with - lots of country parks near us and a lot of them have bumpy/gravelly tracks which this should apparently be really good over, so I have to think about that side of things I think.... I almost need two - a really small one for when I want to go to coffee shops etc. and the Vista for everything else! Is that just greedy? One of my mates actually did that as the one they bought first they realised wasn't as practical as they thought it would be just a few weeks in and got another one cheaply off ebay. Perhaps that's the way forward....!

MrsVDB · 02/09/2013 15:02

Wow busy today!

Good luck for scans everyone! Think my work will think I'm taking the mick this week as doctors appointment on Wednesday as I'm getting these bruises/ red marks on my legs and I think it's to do with my circulation and want to get checked before long flight, consultant appointment on Thursday about septate uterus (only booked because I called and said I hadn't heard anything) and scan on Friday woo!! Then off to Bali for 2 weeks on Sunday. Not much I can do about it though.

Still don't think I have kicks but flutters are definitely strong rolling about feelings now (especially when I play music to my belly or lie on my front in the bath (I'm short ha ha).

Looking forward to seeing if baby is huge on Friday as dh is 7ft!! Eek!!

sultana I don't think I've seen the vista before, I like the look of it. It's only 3cm wider than the bugaboo cameleon which I fancy. What's the average pram width? I thought they'd all be pretty standard. Living in London I suppose I should be practical but its so pretty! Colleague at work also said how good the city mini jogger is ( after having bugaboo bee). Did you know you can turn vista carrycot into a laundry basket after??

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/09/2013 15:06

Thank you for the advice, lovelies. Think you've all hit the nail on the head - it's not real to her yet. I get that, until I had flutters, it wasn't real to me either. It still isn't sometimes!
I'll see if I can let her know that it's okay not to be over the moon and see if she wants to talk.

sultana I will always be excited over baby things, so you can always tag me here if your DH/DM aren't being excited enough! I get what you mean though, when I was getting married, I was paranoid about not talking about it too much, to the point where my Mum's best friend asked me if I was having second thoughts, as I never mentioned it!
Glad your DH apologised at least, maybe he was having a wobble?

Pramwise, my only concern over the Vista was size/London transport, so if that's not an issue for you, I'm sure the Vista will be ace! I really really liked it, if that helps!

Angelesque · 02/09/2013 15:21

First time on the boards and joining this thread waves. 18 +6 here - due on 28 January and anomaly scan is this Thursday. Excited and scared... I'm a FTM :)

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 15:26

Ekkkk Mrsv what an exciting week (and nice little trips out of work!!!). Bali nearly here you come!!!! Bliss!!!

I am not sure about the average pram width and I have heard about the Jogger being a good one. I saw a Youtube video that compared the bugaboo cameleon and the vista which was interesting.

Humpty it's really my mum who has put doubts in my mind about how big the vista is (although she does have a point). She is very much of the opinion that people these days have these huge prams with tiny babies in them. However, if they are big then hopefully they should last them a long time....don't want to have to fork out for another in a year's time because it has outgrown it already! I suspect it will be an issue in certain places, BUT I am beginning to have a bit of a "feck it" attitude towards it and I am never gonna get perfection so I need to get a grip....! You watch, next week I will have taken it back and got the smallest pram available! Lol! Blush

Thanks Humpty! I know where to go next time I see something mega cute and I want someone else to appreciate it! Grin

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 15:26

Welcome Angel! How exciting!!!

extracrunchy · 02/09/2013 15:38

Welcome Angel!!

MrsVDB · 02/09/2013 15:43

Welcome angel

Ooh ill have to look that up sultana, the vista is cheaper and at quick look on tinternet looks just as good. Wonder why I haven't seen it before?!

MrsVDB · 02/09/2013 16:05

Ok random tmi question!! When you feel lots of movement do you then find that when you go to the loo you have more discharge than normal? I don't normally have much but after feeling a lot of baby squirming I get quite a bit of creamy discharge right after? Is this normal?

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 16:23

mrsv I think uppababy originates from America. I hadnt heard of it until I looked at the reviews on which and then saw it in Kiddicare....

Here is the link to the vista/chameleon comparison:

I have noticed more discharge in general over the last week and have also had more movements. I hadnt put two and two together, but maybe there is a link.....

TobyLerone · 02/09/2013 16:41

Those of you who haven't bought prams yet, check Winstanley's Pram World before you do. We got our Stokke for £200 cheaper than anywhere else, including Kiddicare. Excellent service, it was here a few days after we'd ordered it with free delivery. They're also cheaper for the car seat/isofix we want, and loads of other things.
(I would link, but I'm too lazy to do it on my phone!)

Humpty, re your friend, I get it. We are so low-key with this, I'm sure everyone thinks we just don't care. We still haven't done any kind of FB announcement, DH hasn't told his dad yet and has only told work today. We were talking about it on the way back from the scan yesterday and it's not like we're not happy this baby was very much tried-for and wanted it's more that we're just not excited. Maybe we're just weird :o

Sultana, glad your DH has stopped being a dick!

Welcome, Angel. Nice to have a newbie so late :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/09/2013 17:04

MrsV fx all the appts go well and still VERY Envy about Bali...

angel congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome! How was your 12wk scan - did everything go well?

sultana I think you should buy what you like. You can spend your life searching for perfection, but essentially you'll have to suck it and see. As for them being oversized, the preggo ragey part of me thinks that's to MAKE idiots take notice and treat us with a bit of care. Today, I was standing in the queue for the cashpoint, there was noone behind me. A lady was wheeling an empty wheelchair towards me (it was a pedestrian area, so loads of 'safe' space, not in the road), but instead of just steering round me, she stopped, glared at me, and said loudly 'could you move please'. I was Shock - there was nothing at all to stop her going round me (no tables, no trees, no other people), and why should the fact she's wheeling a wheelchair entitle her to make me shift out of her way? I'm the one with the bump, lady!
Rant over, but I still think buy what makes you happy - someone will no doubt tell you it's too big, but meh!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/09/2013 17:22

MrsV I do get loads LOADS more discharge some days than others, maybe linked to kicks, I'm not sure.

toby thank you - maybe she just isn't excited either! Everyone's different, I guess! Although you are weird Grin

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 17:40

Good tip toby! Will check it out realising the debate in my head may kick off again Grin

Humpty you are so right - not sure why I feel the need to get my mums approval on this. Hopefully when she sees how good it is in action she will change her opinion, although I can imagine the first time we go somewhere that we struggle for space I will get the "told u so" look. Thats why the name is only gonna be revealed in RL once he has been named!,Wink

I would have been super tempted to say to wheelchair lady "oh how thoughtful of you to bring me a wheelchair" & then sit in it! Grin

TobyLerone · 02/09/2013 18:06

Not the first time I've been told that, Humpty :o

Oh, sultana, don't mums drive you crazy sometimes?
My mum was talking about buying a pack of nappies now and again with her shopping, to help us out. Lovely thought, obviously, and I told her so. But I asked her to hold off because we want to use cloth nappies after the first month or so. She did an irritating thing with her eyebrows and sort of smirked and said "would you be cross if I made a bet with you?"
I said "yes, I would! Plenty of people manage to do this. And if it doesn't work out, I couldn't give a toss if you want to say you told me so."

We're also not telling names, for the same reason!

Toothfairy78 · 02/09/2013 18:34

Evenin' all!

You've all been so busy today!

space nice to hear you got a big ol' kick! Sounds like they have some spirit!

Lovely to have some fresh new peeps on here especially at this late stage, welcome angel and congrats!

Erm someone was going to Bali on holiday? Ah, MrsV Very jealous!

Solidarity to you toby and anyone else thinking of cloth nappies or those planning anything that parents don't think you have the balls to try!

Someone's DS went had an op today, I hope it went well?

And today, it really sank in that I will have several months off work. I didn't have a crap day at work at all I promise, but I am bloody looking forward to it! Looking forward to time with baby and homely things!

Penny31 · 02/09/2013 18:34

Phew just caught up! Please all seems to be well with everyone and I can't believe we are talking about prams and movement etc. It doesn't seem long ago since we were talking about morning sickness!

I've been so tired today due to stupid heartburn keeping me up. I've feeling so much movement now so it's reminding me its all worthwhile :-)

13 weeks left at work! Eeek! How long has everyone else got left?

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 18:39

Toby that sounds about right! Why cant they just support you in your decisions? Drives me nuts! My mum actually used cloth nappies and has made a few comments about my idea to start with disposables and then see how we are getting on. She also didnt breast feed me and doesnt believe all the hype about breast being best, so I have steered the conversation away from that topic as it is what I am aiming to do if I can.... She has never been gushy over babies or children and I wasnt planned and am an only child, so as happy as she is for me, she is the exact opposite of DMIL who is practically bouncing off the walls as I was her only hope of a grandchild! Thats another issue in itself, but she lives abroad so I can push those issues to the back of my mind for now....Wink

I am sure once bubs arrives Mum will think he is cute and will buy him cute bits and bobs....

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 18:45

Me too tooth! Omg Penny I know!!! Its crazy isnt it? Time is suddenly moving quite quickly which is fab but also scary! 11 weeks of work left for me and I cant wait to have a few weeks to hopefully take it easy before bubs arrives! Grin The heartburn and peeing are keeping me up too! Both are waking me up twice a night and then I lay awake for ages trying to get back to sleep, but as u say, the kicks are making it all worthwhile! Think I may have felt one high up externally today! Grin

Percypiglet · 02/09/2013 18:56

Anyone getting numbness/pain in thighs when sleeping? It did my head in over the weekend.

Just seen my niece who was jumping all over me, got a bit worried about bubs, am sure I am being irrational, aren't i, as should be all nicely padded and protected, in there? Niece doesn't know I am pregnant yet as she is only 2 and a half and my sister recently lost a baby so it's all still a bit difficult between us.....

enjoyingscience · 02/09/2013 19:04

Hi all, and welcome angel!

Scan was lovely, a very wriggly, healthy baby in there. We didn't find out the sex, but dp thinks he saw some boy bits (though says himself they could have been anything!)

I'll check out that shop toby, we need an isofix base and a car seat. I think we need a trip to kiddicare (gulp) to have a look first though.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/09/2013 19:57

Mums are genetically engineered to know better than their kids, aren't they? Grin
My DM is the same - lots of theatrical eye rolling and frowning and snorting at 'modern inventions' that they didn't have in her day (NB: I am 32. Her day was a while ago). I sometimes indulge her in a 'yeah, the good old days were better weren't they?' moan/chat, and sometimes jolly her out of it by calling her an old fogey, and mostly ignore and burn with annoyance in silence.

percy i shouldn't worry - a friend of mine has a 3wk old and a very violent enthusiastic toddler. She's been pummelled repeatedly, and wee baby is fine.

enjoying congrats on your scan, yay!

I have 13 weeks left at work, but one of them (next week) is holiday, so 12, and then I still have 9 days leave to take, will prob take another long weekend or three, so really more like 10 or so Grin [wishful thinking]

Sultanajo · 02/09/2013 19:59

enjoying great scan news! Hurray! Grin

humpty Grin I wonder if I will be like that when my baby boy grows up? I bet I am! Blush

BuntCadger · 02/09/2013 20:27

Wow It's been busy here again!

Had scan today and everything looks good and baby was performing acrobatics. I have anterior high placenta which explains why I've not felt so much. Was seen in day unit to check all ok as I had fall on hols as well and all fine so feeling relieved. They said cramps ok and normal to feel more with more pregnancies.

We know gender but haven't told people as want it to be our secret, anyone else done same?

Angelesque · 02/09/2013 20:51

Thank you for the welcomes all :)

Humpty all fine at 12 week scan (though I actually had it at 15 weeks... Big delays in referral for scan...). Fingers crossed Thurs goes okay.

Toby will check out Winstanley... Just starting to look at prams and have fallen in love with friend's Stokke Xplory. Then found out the price... Shock

Enjoying feeling baby just starting moving! Get a little tickle every now and then while I'm at my desk at work :)
