I got a pack of 6 muslin cloths for £6 in Sainsbury's yesterday. They have little monkeys on them and are really cute.

I stupidly bought 2 packs of 6 when I went to Kiddicare and they were £12 per pack, half the size of the Sainsbury's ones and really boring plain blue. I feel a bit ripped off, wish I lived closer to Kiddicare so I could return them and get the cute ones instead. Much better value.

I've felt really ill over the past few days and have had real trouble getting to sleep. Wonder if I've got low iron levels all of a sudden. Sigh. I have blood tests coming up on Wednesday so I guess I'll find out soon.

ananikifo · 28/07/2013 13:27

roxvox i feel the same way. I was looking at things last night, little things, and some of them were on offer or decent prices, but i kept thinking I should wait because it's early. It's not early anymore, is it? There are now only two paydays till baby. It's time to buy things like sleeping bags, sheets, and hospital bag stuff. (Especially nursing pads Blush)

I've been wondering how many muslins to buy. They come in packs of three at asda but on eBay they come in 6, 12, or 24. Is 6 about right in the beginning?

DH went out last night, posted on Facebook that he'd thrown up, which he never does, then his phone died and he texted me from a friend's phone saying he was coming home and took about an hour and a half after that to get home. I was worried he was drunk and unable to contact me, and because we've just moved here I was worried he forgot the address or the gate code... So long story short we went to bed at 2 am and he feels great this morning and I'm tired. Not fair! Angry The third trimester fatigue is definitely starting. I've lost some of the energy I had recently.

TheFalconsmistress · 28/07/2013 13:37

pseudo my Willow has much longer periods of rest these days too and the movements are smaller but she is well. I have a growth scan on tuesday so i will update you on that but please try not to worry.

31 weeks today not long at all to go. I think i have most of the essential stuff (hopefully)

Flyer747 · 28/07/2013 14:00

Pseudo I've felt no movement today either. Just on the train and sat down with a cuppa and a biscuit hoping that'll get the wee one jigging around a little.

PseudoBadger · 28/07/2013 14:09

Falcon I also have a growth/doppler scan on Tuesday so I'm hoping there is no bad news.

Flyer, hope you get some movement soon xx

Slippysnow · 28/07/2013 14:48

I've started feeling out of my depth again... I can't get my head around necessary nursing clothes and night wear.

I can't stand wasting money and bras seem to be my enemy.

Any suggestions?

Soupqueen · 28/07/2013 14:56

slippy, no suggestions, just empathy, I'm drowning too. I've got a really short body and every nursing top/dress I've tried has flashed my boobs. I just can't figure out what I'm going to be wearing after this baby is born!

Slippysnow · 28/07/2013 14:58

I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I might just confine myself to the house, where I can wear sloppy clothes with no bra. That way I don't have to find any fashionable alternatives

Sanjifair · 28/07/2013 15:12

Thank you for the 22% off at toysrus tip off, just got a bargain of £93 for maxi cosi family fix base for baby2, and also found some neutral clothes I liked, finally!
I liked those green owl ones which were mentioned in here, but they didn't have them in newborn size which was a shame. I now have 5 babygros, which is all I am going to buy in newborn size as DS was 9 lb 9 and grew out of ten in a week. I will buy a few neutral 0-3 month ones as well.

Re: the second trimester, I did have a really good one. Once I shook off the first trimester tiredness I felt great. Hair is really good condition and seems to barely need washing! Unfortunately now the third trimester has hit and I am sleeping sooo badly (although it could just be the heat). Hey ho!

Sanjifair · 28/07/2013 15:13

Oops meant them, not ten, there.

Oddlife · 28/07/2013 15:33

My you are a chatty lot! I'm going to have to work hard to keep up with you all. It seems we are all going through similar phases - my 2nd trimester bloom has also been short lived. a combination of hot weather and I think restless leg syndrome has turned me into a raging insomniac but last night I managed 4 hours continous sleep for first time in 3 weeks. I cant tell if am exhausted from insomnia or 3rd trimester taking over.

So managed to start thinking about my hospital bag too ...I have maternity pads and dettol wipes but no nighties or bras yet! I'm thinking a big old mans shirt might do the trick, all the maternity nighties seem so boring and expensive.

Getting ready for my LO is a bit tricky as we r having an extension built and they've only done the foundation and half the walls! I can't unpack anything as nowhere to put it - half our house is in a tent in the garden and the other half scattered in other people's garages. I am trying to resist the urge to spring clean as I know it's a pointless exercise whilst the dusty work goes on. Am learning the art of patience.

Just spoke to DH who is away for another month - he can't under stand why I am even thinking about my hospital bag - I am sure he thinks it all just magically appears by itself on the day.

Hope you all having a lovely day, enjoying the cooler temp and resting up or taking advantage of whatever energy you have to spare.

roofio87 · 28/07/2013 16:10

Hello ladies. I might not be able to catch up/post much this week as my smart phone has died so i can only get on my computer, which is so slow its not worth it!!
My movements have definitely changed and change a lot depending on baby's position, he's definitley getting more squished in there now (i'm 30+2) now i'm 30 weeks i'm suddenly feeling the need to get everything ready, got most essentials, going to wash some baby clothes and pack everything i've got into my hospital bag this week. I went and browsed round mothercare and kidicare today, but don't get paid till tuesday so couldn't really buy anything!! i made do with buying 3 packs of maternity pads from boots instead!!
I'm definitely starting to feel more tired again now, 6 weeks left at work!! I didn't necessarily have a great 2nd trimester, but I do love being pregnant, i don't know why I just do, it feels so special!! Smile

GTbaby · 28/07/2013 16:13

I'd get 12 muslins. SmileMin. I had about 15 and at start would often use a few a day and end up with them all in the wash.

claphammama · 28/07/2013 17:24

good to hear from you crookie and glad all is good after all this worry! X

I echo what other mums are saying - muslins are just amazing and have at least hundred uses... I have at least 20 and won't leave the house without them.

flyer I'm with you on the hair free legs! Love it! What outfit did you choose for the wedding then?

pseudo I also had only some soft movements today but don't worry. I find that it varies so much from day to day... yesterday I was literally battered and today he is much quieter. I try not to worry as long as I feel something every day. Have you been very busy and running around today? Mine is always much quieter when I'm busy.

tarlia and chickien how funny and spooky that you lived here until recently! You both must have lived literally 5-10 min walk from me! What are the odds?! Do you think you will ever come back to the UK and this area?

We went to Westfield today for some last minute holiday shopping - and I bought a silk Gap Maternity dress for... 3 pounds!!! I kid you not. Try to beat this! They are discontinuing their maternity range in stores so practically give the stuff away. There were only a few things left now though...

and hope you feel better smitten X

PseudoBadger · 28/07/2013 17:25

I asked DP if he could get the bags of tiny clothes out of the loft so I could sort through them and work out what we needed. He said no, not until maternity leave. He's unhinged right?

claphammama · 28/07/2013 17:27

he is clearly suicidal pseudo... or very very brave...

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/07/2013 17:34

Wow bargain dress Clapham.

Just don't go up in the loft yourself please pseudo!

Any movements flyer?

I think a couple of you were going for woodland theme for your nursery too. We just went to buy a toolbox at b&q and found a cute owl and tree lampshade for £14. Can't see it on the website but will take a photo if anyone is looking for something similar.

PseudoBadger · 28/07/2013 17:37

He knows he's got me you see, as I won't go up there myself. I'll give it until we get back from holiday....

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/07/2013 17:39

Ah here is the light shade

here

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/07/2013 17:39

Will the argument that if you don't know what is still usable you will have to buy everything new persuade him?!

claphammama · 28/07/2013 17:46

lovely shade orange!

Flyer747 · 28/07/2013 17:53

I really like that lamp shade, I'm going with the owl and hedgehog theme it's so cute.

Felt movements, currently lying down on hotel bed, just having a quiet day (baby) not as strong as normal. Staying in a radisson blu hotel and the bed is so uncomfy (rock hard) I want my lush soft bed from home.

Clapham bargain dress. I have 2 dresses here not sure which one i will wear. I've bought a new gold clutch, champagne gold shoes and have some nice jewellery to try and dress up my outfits as I feel they are a little plain the dresses. Will post to a pic to fb which one i wear.

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/07/2013 18:02

Glad your baby is having a wiggle flyer.

PseudoBadger · 28/07/2013 18:20

Glad baby is moving Flyer, enjoy the wedding!

So the worst part about being pregnant in the summer has got to be the sweat right? If I'm even remotely active I sweat under my breasts :( and then there's the knicker area :( Grrrr

MotherOfNations · 28/07/2013 19:00

I'm just on the way back from my Gran's house and so glad to be out in the fresh air. She is always cold and insists on having the heating on full and the only spare seat was one right in front of the radiator. My mum who is currently living with her as her carer said she was so relieved when my Gran was in hospital all of last week as it meant she could finally turn the heating off.

Enjoy the wedding Flyer. Hopefully the rain will stay away but if the bride is a Glaswegian she'll be used to the rain and won't be too disappointed.
