Nope..don't iron muslins or baby things (or sometimes ours..we only iron as we need to for work). Everything goes in tumble drier in our house, esp baby stuff!

Ah that's a shame that you're no further forward really shelley

I had a reflexology session this morning...was nice tho gent as if this cold/flu/cough thing got a bit worse. Had a cheeky nap btwn 2&4...so thought I felt better but eyes & nose still streaming..hoping this means that the worst had gone & things will improve overnight...got a christening to attend in Hampshire tomorrow.

Ps can't believe there's 10 babies here already?!

Beginningofthejourney · 22/06/2013 18:33

princess I cried every time the mentioned me going home (even for a few hours!) so I got to stay for the whole 20 days! Although postnatal ward kicked me out after 10 days so spent 10 days in parents room on scbu. Also I had a melt down last Saturday about feeding and that I could cope with pumping and trying to feed Theo and so was going to give up but the very next feed after I'd said it he latched on and has got better and better every since! Hope its the same for you.
I ironed everything for Theo before he arrived....not ironed a thing since his arrival :-)

Runswithsquirrels · 22/06/2013 18:43

Ah, sitting in the hairdressers for what will be my last expensive hair appointment for about eighteen years. I'd better make the most of it!

princessllama · 22/06/2013 18:44

Beginning, thank you for your message, has cheered me up a bit. Fingers crossed next feed will be better, i am starting to lose it at all the people staring at my breast when trying to feed

Dear god no Shelley re ironing muslins - sounds like an exercise in futility to me! As you havea breech baby presumably if you go into labour it would be an emcs rather than elcs? I know you said you weren't keen on the ecv option so are you tending more towards an elcs now?

Beginning - so pleased things are settling down for you and feeding Theo is getting easier.

Granny - sorry you have a stinking cold. Summer colds are the pits. Sorry you're suffering too in late pregnancy Abzs - remember, the end is in sight!

Runswithsquirrels · 22/06/2013 19:00

Hmm, I wrote my previous mssg at ten am. Guess the wifi went down!

Hope everyone is having a reasonable decent day.

elliejjtiny · 22/06/2013 19:25

runs enjoy your hair appointment

princess hope you don't have to leave the hospital until Humphrey is ready to go too.

dinky the open air theatre sounds lovely

re ironing I never iron anything apart from my dresses occasionally. Ironed all baby things when DS1 was tiny though

thinking treehouse and slide sounds great.

Ezekiel has been moved to a side room because he has caught a hospital bug. He is ok but the nurses don't want the other babies getting it. It's going to be so lonely sat there watching him sleep. I've been chatting to the other mums before. Feel guilty thinking that though and worry that we aren't bonded properly. I suppose it's normal though seeing as he was born by section and taken to nicu while I was still being sewn up. I miss him when I'm at home and miss the other boys when I'm at the hospital.

He was more awake yesterday and seemed bored until he discovered the blinds moving in the breeze. So today I brought 2 baby books with me and he slept for the whole 2 hours I was there. On a positive note we have a date for going home, Monday after next! Trying to keep it quiet though as it's DS1's birthday on the Tuesday and I don't want him to get excited about Ezekiel being there for his birthday if he can't come home after all.

dinkystinky · 22/06/2013 20:06

Ellie - hugs. Its ok to worry about being lonely (watching a baby sleep does get pretty boring after a while, no matter how lovely they are) - and re bonding properly, you know things will settle down, and you'll feel so much closer to and more connected with Ezekiel and settle into the rhythm of a family of 6, when you are healed from the csec and the two of you are both home and in your own space. I'm sorry to hear he's caught a bug - I hope he's not suffering with it and will recover soon. Hurrah for the going home date - hope time flies and you get to give DS1 a lovely surprise guest for his birthday.

dinkystinky · 22/06/2013 20:07

Runs - hope you enjoyed your haircut and got pampered excessively.

princessllama · 22/06/2013 20:48

Elliej- fantastic you have a date, fingers crossed he gets over the bug soon. I get super lonely. Hope he is there for your ds 's birthday.

Congrats Schro!!!

Good news princess and Ellie on baby improvements. Stay strong xxx

BadMissM · 22/06/2013 21:21

I survived the baby shower with DH's difficult family.....just. I also finally finally have a date for my ELCS....July 10, but they are admitting me on the 8th so they can balance steroids and my blood sugars....

ElliE Hugs to Ezekiel, hope he gets over the bug soon xxx

What is this ironing thing you talk of? Smile

Beginningofthejourney · 22/06/2013 21:21

princess feel free to pm me if you want too, it really is stressful trying to juggle pumping with everything else, I'm really glad I stuck with it though, I found the scbu nurses really supportive without making me feel rubbish when I was considering giving up.
ellie I felt like Theo wasn't really mine until I got him home, I think it is difficult to fully bond when you feel you have to ask or wait to pick your own baby up. Hopefully Ezekiel will be home and one of the family very soon and being kissed to death like Theo is Smile x

MarieKL · 22/06/2013 22:44

Ironing is defintely me nesting. Normally I'd be with BadMissM and like Beginning I ironed everything for DS1 before he arrived and haven't ironed anything since. Smile

Hugh hugs to Ellie and Princess. I didn't bond with my DS until he smiled at around 6 wks. Before then I had a strong urge to protect him, but I'm not sure I loved him as I just wanted to sleep and he seemed to take all the time but give nothing back. And I was lucky, textbook birth and home within 24 hours. If it helps I think you're both amazing.

Beginning it must be so good to have Theo home. No wonder he's being covered in kisses.

Granny, I hope your cold improves overnight and you can enjoy the Christening tomorrow.

Shelley so sorry things have changed for you again. It must be so frustrating not knowing what to really expect, or to really understand why. If you find you can't wait that long, can you bring your hospital review forward?

Just been out with my DH, BIL and SIL. SIL is due in early September so had an evening of baby talk, but now exhausted and for the third evening in a row my right foot has swelled up and is really itchy! always goes down by morning though so not too worried.

Hope everyone has a good nights sleep.

Runswithsquirrels · 23/06/2013 03:09

Been awake since the OH came in to bed. I'd love to sleep the night through again. Sigh.

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/06/2013 04:36

Runs - maybe we'll get a full nights sleep again in a few years......

Glad you've got a discharge date, ellie. I hope Ezekiel gets over the bug quickly & is home for the party.

Well done for surviving the ILs at your baby shower, BadMiss!

Congratulations BB01!

VinegarDrinker · 23/06/2013 04:39

Signing in to the 4am wide awake club. Bit different this morning as I was woken by two painful contractions a few minutes apart. Nothing since, though so don't think anything is imminent.
Typically I am staying at my Mum's tonight - only about 10 miles away but have notes but not my hospital bag! So if things do ramp up will have to decide whether to try and go home then onto 'my' hospital or just turn up at her local one...

Sorry for lack of personals

shelley72 · 23/06/2013 05:25

Ooh exciting vinegar. How are you now?

Been awake since 330, thought it was a school day so was mentally making a note of all the things I have to mention to ds's teacher today. Think sleep deprivation is really kicking in and I'm not quite with it!

Hope Ezekiel continues to improve Ellie, it must be difficult time for you and completely understandable to feel split between your children. You must be doing a grand job though.

Yes i was told last week that it will be emcs if I go into labour, unless bottom is appearing in which case I won't have a choice as it will be too late! But they don't like to deliver breeches at our hospital, even for first time straight forward pregnancies. Need to keep an eye on movements today, has been a bit quiet overnight. Again that will be a phone call I don't want to have to make Sad. Just wondering now if I'm delaying the inevitable by not having a date set...

dinkystinky · 23/06/2013 07:08

Good luck Vinegar! V exciting!

Shelley - do you have a notebook? When you wake up with lists of things to do/say, see if writing it down helps you get back to sleep. I used to have this problem as a nervous stressed young solicitor and found doing just that meant I had enough closure for the time being to go back to sleep. Hope little one perks up today and gets a shuffle on to avoid you having tho go in tho be monitored again.

dinkystinky · 23/06/2013 07:20

BB01 posted on Fb - she's had a little girl! So that's 11, 8 boys and 3 girls so far.

VinegarDrinker · 23/06/2013 07:27

Oooh hooray, congrats to BB

Thanks for the good wishes, still here and no more big contractions, bit sore and niggly but nothing definite. I didn't really have a latent phase last time - had nothing, then waters, then full on regular contractions. Anyway not sure how much is psychological as i'm 38+5 today and that's when DS was born!

dinkystinky · 23/06/2013 07:33

I think our next thread title should be July 2013 - holy shit, this is it! :-)

MightBeMad · 23/06/2013 07:54

Congrats bb!! And v exciting vinegar - keep us posted!

shelley72 · 23/06/2013 07:59

congratulations BB01 Flowers. 11 babies already and still a week or so of june left!

dinky i do tend to write memos on my phone/kindle if im in bed - but still doesnt help much as im one of those 'once im awake, im awake' people. have always suffered with sleep issues, and unfortunately DS is just the same. now more importantly, was it you that had a recipe for blueberry and lemon curd muffins? would you be kind enough to share please Smile?

vinegar - keep us posted! but you are a day ahead of me so please dont scare me too much. i dont know why, as i have had since october to prepare, but i dont feel ready to be a mum Shock.

dinkystinky · 23/06/2013 08:05

See the light from a kindle phone wakes me up too much Shelley. A quick turn on of a low volt dimmer light, scribble of a note, and light off and am generally OK to sleep again. I found meditation helped a lot too. Yep, I'm the muffin lady - will post a link to the recipe shortly.
