Hi all, haven't caught up with all the goings on I have 26 pages to read! So it wasn't a false alarm when I when into hospital on the 28th may, my baby boy was born almost 7 weeks early! After 3 long weeks in scbu we came home today! I am completely in love with my little pickle that has caused we so much stress.
Hope everyone else is well and no other babies have decided to arrive early. I will try to catch up but I seem to spend a lot of time snuggling and gazing :-) x

Thinkingof4 · 17/06/2013 21:24

Oh wow beginning congratulations!! How lovely - what is his name?

badmissm families are such hard work at times, I really feel for you

Hope those who have just started mat leave are enjoying their wee bit of time before babies arrive. Wishing everyone a better night sleep!

dinkystinky · 17/06/2013 21:24

Oh my goodness Beginning - sounds like a scary time for you but so pleased you and your little man are home and hope you are settling in to a nice routine at home. What's your little boys name? Will add him to the list of early arrivals up thread.

photographerlady · 17/06/2013 21:30

Hi ladies, I'm guilty been lazy on the Facebook group. I am addicted to the lovely photos, can't wait for more and more. My camera takes up half my hospital bag :p

36 weeks today!!

ohgood I think your right, no one would want labour with a cold, you wouldn't be able to breathe :)

sleep issues sorry so many of you are having sleep issues. I had decent sleep last week but this week no dice, my back is properly ruined and makes my legs hurt too.

BadMiss I am sorry you are having so many family issues... Why is it family and in-laws can emotionally blackmail each other to no end :/

shelly hope the pregnancy is going well, thought of you today as the MW went on about hospital stuff I thought about how I already knew this stuff, thanks to your insight heehee.

MrsRoss26 · 17/06/2013 21:51

Congratulations beginning! Fab to hear that you're home and happy after such an early start Smile

Silver15 · 17/06/2013 22:23

Congs Beginning.

Bad miss hope you'll work out something less stressful.

Im so tired today will now go to the bed and pray that the 4am bug stays away tonight as I have a busy day at work tomorrow.

Beginningofthejourney · 17/06/2013 22:54

His name is Theodore. It has been a stressful few weeks but lovely to be home. Luckily I was able to stay in hospital with Theo and have managed to express milk and he has managed to breast feed so felt like there was something I could do for him. The care in scbu was brilliant.
Welcome to the other new arrivals, I have skim read all the messages. X

Devilforasideboard · 17/06/2013 23:00

Hi all. Just popping in to congratulate on all the early arrivals and announce the arrival of my own. Will arrived on Friday night via emergency c section (5 days before planned c section) as I went into early labour and the consultant didn't want to risk waiting. All went well and I'm recovering nicely so far. Will weighed just over 6lb and other than struggling a bit with his sucking reflex is doing really well. We got home today so just settling in and getting my head round it all!

Supershiv1 · 18/06/2013 00:00

Congrats to all the new babies. I think the supposed July babies are singlehandedly keeping the SCBU's across the country busy with the early arrivals.
I hope everyone gets home quickly.
I had a review with my hospital about Oliver's early arrival. No answers really. Said if I got pregnant again that's when they could do more tests/monitoring as the pregnancy hormones would be back.
There's 2 separate elements. The slight placenta inefficiency (which they believe could simply be how the egg implanted as no signs of infection) and the fact that it sounds like I actually went into proper pre-term labour and they don't know what caused that. They don't believe the placenta contributed to early labour and I had no signs of infection. They think the fibroids are a red herring. So none the wiser really.
What made me laugh was in the summary letter they put 'pre term labour, possibly masked by wind'.
Nice!
Does anyone ever hear from flyingsprocket? I often think if her.

Sashabella0 · 18/06/2013 04:03

Congratulations Beginning. Another boy!! Xx

dinkystinky · 18/06/2013 06:01

Lovely names Beginning and Devil - hope your little men settle in happily at home x

Shiv - I reckon lots of latent phase labour out there is masked by gas :-) sorry they couldn't give you the more definitive answers you were hoping for - sadly the human body can work in some pretty unique ways (as Oliver is proving to his drs) so in the absence of huge indicators we're not sure why seems to be a frequent answer as to why preterm labour has occurred (there speaks the daughter of a former gynae OBS Dr who had to endure many years of her parents discussing cases over dinner - not much fun at the time but sure prepared me for pregnancy and birth:-) )

I have a chilled day of shopping, massage, late lunch with a friend and yoga planned today - its meant to be a warm one today so enjoy all.

MrsMillions · 18/06/2013 07:48

Congratulations Beginning and Devil, lovely names.

Dinky I am jealous of your day!

After a lazy morning yesterday I'm already showered and need to be decent for Ikea delivery men in the next hour or so. At least an early delivery means I can get on with my day afterwards, and I can always have a nap later. Work, what was that Grin?! (Sorry to those of you still at the grindstone.)

dinkystinky · 18/06/2013 08:05

I figured as ds2 is having a picnic and play in the park with his nanny and some friends from nursery, ds1 has a playdate with a friend after school and dh is out at the royal opera house with clients this evening I should have a good old play day too :-)

Cheeseandbread · 18/06/2013 08:25

Congratulations Beginning and Devil beautiful names.

Dinky your day does sound good.

I felt like I achieved lots yesterday- passport forms sent off at the post office, hospital tour booked, library visit to get a couple of books and a trip to ikea! Then sat on the bed tired out and watched DH assemble ikea purchases...

Today I'm back to school for class pics then I have the health visitor coming round with the red book- all a bit more real... Later we start out NCT classes- bit nervous about making new friends- hope they like me Grin

SundaySunshine · 18/06/2013 08:39

Congratulations Devil and Beginning! Flowers glad you've been allowed home.

Dinky your day sounds fab. I've found an open air theatre production near me and i really want to go, but its on the day before I'm due, not sure if I should risk it - as usual I'll be the one driving.

DH and I made a list of names last night and didn't agree on any of them Sad we both think each other's list is awful, can't see us agreeing any time soon Hmm

Nice to see you shiv, sorry you haven't been given any answers. I hope little Oliver is doing ok today.

cheekbyjowl · 18/06/2013 08:56

seconding the congratulations beginning and devil

ginger and indecisive are you still watching the thread. any more developments?

cheese enjoy the nct, I hope you get a lovely group. I think thats part of the value of nct, I think many stay in touch for years

dinky I covet your day, your husbands and your sons Smile I would start with the park, then the picnic then massage and round up the day at the roh with a glass of champagne in the floral hall....but alas I'm on the tube to work. I have no mat cover so still working late to complete projects. I reckon I'll either go into labour the day I stop (8th july) or be super late

my app now says sprog is the size of a watermelon. what will it say in three weeks time? prizewinning watermelon? ack!

cheekbyjowl · 18/06/2013 09:11

sunday you should post your ideas on the baby name thread. they are a straight talking bunch..if we have a girl we have a name in mind but for a boy I'm going to have to try the sublimable (sp?) message route and hard code the name I like into my dhs computer game or toast it into a bacon sandwich Wink

IcingTheCake · 18/06/2013 09:23

cheek I'm hoping when they say watermelon they mean the puny ones from Tesco not the massive ones from the market! haha

Congrats beginning how exciting! All of these little boys turning up. Only two girls out of 8 babies so far! Haha these girls are much better behaved Wink

Thinkingof4 · 18/06/2013 09:31

Congratulations to devil I can't believe how many early babies there have been on this thread! Am I right to think we are still waiting on the first term baby? (37 weeks plus)
dinky sounds like a lovely day, have fun!

sunday I agree re posting on baby names thread, I started a thread there last night as we are struggling to agree on a girls name and have had loads of replies, it's great!

shiv must be difficult with so many unanswered questions. Hope Oliver is having some better days

Well my plans for the day are on hold as ds1 was not feeling well last night so off school today, and home with me (cm collected 2 wee ones though)
He seems totally fine so I'm keeping fx that it wasn't a bug and maybe just something he ate. He's even had breakfast, and is now comfily wrapped up on couch watching a DVD without interruptions from his noisy brothers- bliss for him I think!!

dinkystinky · 18/06/2013 10:03

Sounds like you had a super productive day Cheese. Hope you have a good time at nct and that they are a nice bunch.

Cheek - I bow down to you for working so late - hope the tube is OK and your projects aren't too stressful. A watermelon sounds about right - turns into a space hopper by the end! Well mine do anyway.

Sunday - if tickets aren't too expensive I'd say go for it - and get a cab or friend to drive. Or get tickets on the day if lots of availability. We're meant to be going to see pride and prejudice at the regents park open air theatre on Friday - keeping my fingers crossed the nice weather holds!
We can't agree on names either but am sure we'll find something eventually.

Thinking - sorry ds1 is ill - hope he feels better soon and you both enjoy your quality downtime together.

BB01 · 18/06/2013 10:09

Beginningofthejourney · 18/06/2013 10:54

My little pickle wasn't keen on all the new smells last night, I tried him in the basket (with my T-shirt) and in the crib but he was not going to settle so I ended up having him in bed with me all night! (Dont tell the midwife) For such a little person he took up a lot of space!
shiv and the other mummy with scbu baby (princess? sorry brain is scrambled!) Theo had issues getting off c-pap and the consultant was going to try nebulised surfactant, apparently there is research that says it can be helpful and there are no known side affects, very new treatment the nurses hadnt heard of it. The consultant said he would have used it if it was his son. Theo decided he didn't want to try it as he improved himself but just thought I'd mention it incase it might be useful for ur bubba's? Hope you get your boys home very soon x

VinegarDrinker · 18/06/2013 11:06

Morning everyone. Congratulations beginning - it certainly does seem like we've had more than our fair share of premmies on this thread. Thinking of all of those little ones still in NICU/SCBU.

I'm 38 weeks exactly today so the impatience kicks in big time as DS was born at 38+5.... I would love to hear from those of you on no. 3 or more whether there was any pattern to how early/late they turned up? (Totally unscientific I know!)

DS in nursery today, just done a big shop now need to hang out the washing, Hoover and mow the lawn...

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/06/2013 11:33

Congratulations, Beginning & Devil!

Sunday DH and I are slightly closer to agreeing on a short list of names, but we definitely hated most of each others initial suggestions. We had a theatre trip planned when I was pregnant with DD, but had to cancel when she was induced early. I'd definitely recommend getting cancellation insurance if it's offered (we didn't, and it would've only cost £1 or something).

I'm on my last week of work Grin. Wil be 36 weeks on Thursday. It's going to be a busy week, so looking forward to finishing.
