after dog chewed my flip flops earlier in the week I had to go to work in heels. Bad idea I now have trotters where my feet used to be. my feet and ankles are so swollen. is it the weather rather than pregnancy that is causing this? I am not far enough along to have swollen ankles.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 17/07/2013 18:34

Ooh I would say it's a combination of both! Get thee to the t'interweb and find some more flatties.

OP posts:
SweetieTime · 18/07/2013 07:42

boo my feet are a nightmare at the best of times. I will have to have a look though as I am desperate.

keep hope the packing is going well. When do you fly?

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 18/07/2013 07:51

Ooh kicks and bumps :):) I am loving all this preggo action!!

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 18/07/2013 08:08

Packing is v complicated... What needs to be used and when, making all bags the right weight...

sweetie that's great you felt them. You're over 16 weeks right? Plus there are two, so they'll be more cramped. I've not had foot issues but do have them up a lot... Def go for flats.

solars can't remember if I said already but fab fab fab news on the scan.

GreenOlives · 18/07/2013 09:14

On the foot/feet front you are bound to get swollen in this weather - remember you have loads more fluid in your circulation during pregnancy so are far more prone to puffiness! By the end of my pregnancy with DS1 (which was in summer) my feet/ankles were ginormous!! And did you know pregnancy can permanently alter your shoe size? My feet were a good half size bigger after DS1 and have stayed that size. I had to throw away loads of shoes! Shock Angry Fortunately they didn't grow any bigger with T or I would need canoes Grin How exciting feeling movement! Grin

SweetieTime · 18/07/2013 11:30

olives I never knew that. I hate shoe shopping and bra shopping so I hope I don't have to get rid of the comfy shoes I have found over the years.

The movement was like a tapping, a bit like a pulse. Not sure if it was the real thing or me wanting it to be there.

omg I never checked the ttc thread this morning. I cannot believe I gace missed the most amazing news. Thanks for the prod Sparks

RubberBullets · 18/07/2013 14:12

I had an anterior placenta with dd so didn't feel movement until about 22/23 weeks. The only way I could describe it was blipping. It was always in the same place, by her feet. She was a lazy so and so, although she used to kick and squirm, she was in the same position every time I saw the mw :)

SweetieTime · 19/07/2013 10:25

I am officially sick of the weather. To clarify I am happy with it in the day but wish it would cool down at night. I am struggling to get comfortable, but am sure it is the heat rather than anything else.
Off to see dink midwife at 1 to hopefully hear heartbeats. Not sure if it will happen or not as I know it can be a bit unpredictable. Also jyst had a call from hospital midwife to ask me to get my booking in bloods repeated as they don't have them lost them So I will ask dink midwife to take them. I hope she is capable as she hasn't seemed capable of much so far.
Better get my pee pot out too otherwise I will forget to take one of those too.

Hope everyone else is doing well too

Munxx · 19/07/2013 11:28

I agree sweetie night time is horrible at the moment.

I hope the mw appt goes well and everything that needs doing gets done!

SweetieTime · 19/07/2013 14:16

All went well at mw appointment. Managed to hear a heartbeat twice, not sure if it was the same twin twice or both of them. It was hammering away at 158 bpm, she was pleased with that. My iron levels are the highest she has ever seen at 279, the range is 10-300 and most people are around 50 - well so she said Hmm
I didn't have to make any more appointments with her as I think when I come under twin clinic that is better. Who am I to argue???

Solars · 19/07/2013 15:59

Sweetie really pleased to hear your mw appointment went well and you got to hear the heartbeats! You sound really fed up by the way, it must be the weather. DH was struggling with the heat last night too, he ended up sleeping on the couch at some point in the night as I think it must have been cooler, I was fine until I had to get up to use the toilet at 4am and then couldn't get back to sleep. I have to admit I am enjoying this weather

Olives omg is it really true about the permanent change in shoe size? What will I do with all my shoes that don't fit anymore??

How is everyone else? It's very quiet in here.

Thanks Keep hope you're enjoying the last few days in Thailand.

GreenOlives · 19/07/2013 16:33

Doesn't happen to everyone solars but I would say that more than 50% of my circle of friends have bigger feet post children - one of my friends is really gutted as she now wear an 8.5 and when she was pregnant had to buy size 9! Her husband used to joke about borrowing them! !Shock Shock Grin

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/07/2013 06:39

My feet got bigger, after ds1 i went from mostly a 5 to always a 6, and they also got wider to a EE fitting. Didn't alter after ds2. I can't wear any of my pre pregnancy footwear :(

keepitgoing · 21/07/2013 10:27

I've just been in sandals for yonks, so will be weird to wear shoes again.

Have got a bit pink despite factor 30, grr.

Hope maybe joins us soon.

Lots of kicking here, most of the time. I love it :)

trix have you told all your friends now?

cartoontrickster · 21/07/2013 16:10

yay to lots of kicking keep
I still haven't told that many.
I had my hair cut on Sat, I'd been putting it off since march so as I didn't have to answer any baby questions, she always asks and what do I open the door to! a 27wk bump!
I nearly cried there and then. I wanted to run away. for some reason I was really upset. it was such a shock. I was a bit jealous maybe which is just stupid. she's another one that had an accident and didn't know until 12wks. obviously I said I'm pregnant too. but it felt really weird I havent told anyone face to face apart from my parents. I think it made me realise how uncertain I still feel about things. I was having a really down day and had a cry at bedtime.
I just want a bump now Envy although by the end of the day I look like I have one! as soon as I eat I get huge. look so bloated fat atm.
how is everyone else coming along?

SweetieTime · 21/07/2013 19:29

Evening all, hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Trix so sorry you got a bit of a downer shock at hairdressers. It is hard for people to tell those who have had very difficult experiences TTC that they are diffed. Although it is pretty insensitive to say it was an accident, it would have better for her to say very little. I hope you have had your cry and can look forward to your little bump getting bigger everyday. I have been taking weekly side on photos, at Keeps suggestion, and email them to myself from my phone then keep them in a folder on the laptop. So I can look back to see how much my bump is coming on. Might be something for you to think about, if you aren't already.

Keep lovely to know kip is very active. It must be very reassuring. Make sure you keep yourself very well hydrated in the run up to your flight and on the flight too. I was told that your body can actually make stores of water so use the next day or so. It might not be true but it won't do you any harm, although you may spend considerable time in the bathroom.

Solars hope you are doing well too, sorry if my post from Fri came across as negative and I was feeling down. I am not down at all, in fact very chipper. I think, apart from preggo mentalling, I have been the most chilled I have ever been. Plus we have had so much on our plates with selling our homes and buying our first house together & doing it up. All will be worth it when we move in next Saturday, I am counting down the days.

Boo hope all is well with you, we haven't heard much from you. Is it lovely babyboo and toddlyboo keeping you out of trouble?

Can any of you lovely ladies explain to me how I should be sleeping, as in the position. I find myself still sort of on my tummy, although it does wobble like sleeping on a beach ball, and on my back. Am I or the twins at risk if I continue? I just find it so difficult to stay on my side, I must roll into my default positions while asleep.

Munxx · 21/07/2013 20:44

Just a quickie..... sweetie I used a dream genii pillow to help with sleep positioning and comfort.

Solars · 21/07/2013 21:06

No need to apologise Sweetie sounded like it was the weather and your midwife that made you sound a bit fed up. We have a lot of that to look forward to too in terms of moving and selling up our places. We're renting at the moment and we both have houses but in different towns so once we feel at ease with this pregnancy we will start to look for a permanent home but we need to take into consideration schools etc which neither of us really has a clue about. So it may be a few years yet that we make a move. I have read on google that sleeping on your left side is best but I'm sure that more experienced brookers will be able to help out. How nice to be moving into your new place next week!

Trix you poor thing I think I would have felt the same. In fact yesterday DH showed me some pictures from one of his colleagues who has a newborn, they only got married last summer and I felt a bit funny about it, not jealous but that feeling of shock and gosh it was so easy for them why did we have to go through so much. You will get there Trix

Keep yay for lots of kicking!

So we have our next scan tomorrow and I'm still feeling nervous about it, just can't wait to feel comfortable about things. We also have another scan on Thursday at fmc when I will also have my Harmony blood test so I think it's going to be a nerve wracking week for me!

cartoontrickster · 21/07/2013 21:19

sweetie I love the idea of growing bump pics just havent felt confident enough, perhaps in a week or 2.
the hairdresser is an old work friend who comes to the house. we aren't close and now I only see/speak to her if I want my hair doing so I can see I wouldnt be the first person she'd announce to. but its a bit strange she didn't say when I text to arrange the appointment. I wouldve liked a bit of warning but she wouldn't have know how it would make me feel. I didn't even think a situation like that would affect me so much.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/07/2013 22:55

Hi, still about just been so busy, will post properly and catch up asap but popping in to quickly say Sweetie your bump will stop you sleeping on your front as it gets bigger, it just happens, also DH and I had separate duvets, I rolled one up and had it tucked between my legs, under my bump and cuddled up to it, there was still enough to cover me up too :)

Catch up soon xx

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 22/07/2013 04:12

sweetie I put one pillow on my left and one on my right, close enough together that I can't really lie on my back even if I try. I'd be at an angle. Then I just seem to roll side to side, or at that angle in the night. Though I'm usually a front sleeper its too uncomfy now.

trix see if you can find a side picture from Pre pregnancy, I bet you do have a little bump. I know what you mean about taking pictures, I was nervous too, but I have them from 4 weeks and it's great already.

OK, ERM, here goes. Recently after I have an orgasm my uterus goes really hard and uncomfy. I read you can get braxton hicks - is this it, oh experienced-brookers. I don't really like it, though dh and Google say it is fine, and kip won't mind, but it's rather putting me off...

solars good luck for today's scans. I do wonder if too many scans fuels the Mental... But you are almost at the 12 weeks.
