My let-down is now so strong that he's not really bothering to suck, just licking occasionally & letting it dribble into his mouth! If it weren't for the regular gulping noises I'd be worried he wasn't feeding!

Rofl... He's just made 4 enormous bubbly poo noises & then looked up at me with his big innocent eyes as if to say 'what was that?' Grin

Thanks kitty... I'll give that a go but I suspect it won't work for him - he just refuses to wake up if he's not ready! It's good to be reminded that it only lasts a few days though!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 12/06/2013 22:02

jojo that sounds familiar, I've been working on latch and ds is now doing a bit more work than simply opening his north and swallowing.

Have you had the shocked look after a sneeze?

Jojobump1986 · 12/06/2013 22:43

Heehee, yeah! He's been sneezing quite a lot today. He always does one & then you can see the second one brewing as he wriggles his nose & looks concerned! Just soooo cute! Grin

Lorelei353 · 13/06/2013 03:51

Hi. So sorry for not updating. It's been a Whirlwind. Cillian was born yesterday at 16.57 in the birth pool. Had him less than two hours after arriving at the hospital I'll tell full story another day but for now am just cuddling my beautiful little boy. Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 13/06/2013 04:16

Oh I'm so happy for you!!! Sounds like a beautiful labour and birth, Lor Can't wait to hear the details. Extra cuddles and baby neck sniffs.

And then there were two....

Come on Lib looks like the race is on between us!

Yay congratulations lor enjoy your newborn snuggles.

Librarina · 13/06/2013 07:14

Congratulations Lor , that's a fabulous name, enjoy cuddling him and tell us all about it when you're ready.

Trumpets. I'm 40+6 today and apart from the odd tightening yesterday and the tiniest bit of brown discharge after my sweep there is nothing happening at all. Trying to decide whether to take a 'Stay in and nest' approach today, or a 'Get outside and stomp the baby out' one. Yesterday I snoozed a lot as I was tired, and did some yoga which felt good and made the baby squirm.

bringonthetrumpets · 13/06/2013 07:41

It's 1:30 am in the States and I can't sleep at all. I don't even feel tired, which is frustrating as I know it'll be really hard to be awake in the morning. Urgh.

I hope you get back to sleep bring and that your insomnia is a sign.

lib stomp this morning, then nest and nap this afternoon. Grin

I'm glad you got to have the pool lorelei did the water help you? water has never helped me, but I've heard it's amazing if it does.

kittykatsforever · 13/06/2013 09:15

Congrats lor!! Can't wait to hear all about it and see pics Grin

Librarina · 13/06/2013 14:07

Had a small stomp around the shops this morning, then went for a swim before lunch, on my walk back to the car I felt a little gush and thought 'Yay! Maybe that was my waters', it wasn't. Turns out my pelvic floor isn't what it used to be!

Just had last nights leftover curry for lunch and will do my yoga DVD again this afternoon.

Can I ask a weird question. It feels like the roots of my pubic hair hurts. I've not seen this listed in any of my books. I can't really see but possibly am a bit swollen down there... Any ideas?

bringonthetrumpets · 13/06/2013 14:17

Finally made it to bed at 2 (after many frustrated sobs) and just grabbing a bite to eat before heading back to bed (it's 8ish am here).

Lib swelling is super common at the end. Lots of blood flow, hormones getting everything ready and stretchy. Haven't heard of the hairs hurting, but I'm wondering if it's rubbing from your underwear or swimsuit from your exercise this morning?

Yay Lor fab news! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Lorelei353 · 13/06/2013 17:37

I had that Lib. actually got a few pimples from it too.

Things going well here. He's feeding really well and I'm slowly recovering. dh has been amazing through labour and after. He's letting me rest as much As poss too. baby is just divine. Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 13/06/2013 17:40

Right. Went on a mile-long walk with DH. Started feeling a few cramps on the way to the walking path and then they stopped as soon as we got going (go figure).

Heading out for a coffee and lunch date with best friend/doula/fellow student midwife. Fun stuff.

So glad to hear feeding is going well and you're resting up Lor! Totally take advantage of this time, it's so fleeting!

Morning! No magical overnight baby for me, just a pretty good nights sleep.

Having reflexology and a massage this afternoon, try and coax baby out...

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/06/2013 06:49

Morning lib make the most of your sleep. Envy jealous of sleep.

Jojobump1986 · 14/06/2013 07:55

Ouch. I was just feeding DS2 & getting really intense after-pains to the point that I had to ask DH to take him for me so I could go to the toilet - an empty bladder helps ease it. The pain just got worse & I realised it wasn't centralised enough to be after-pains. I'm now pretty sure I'm constipated. Because that's sooo what I need just as all my other aches & pains are getting better! I blame the lady who did my stitches. She told me to avoid fruit for a little while because it would make my urine more 'stingy'. I'd rather have stingy wee than be frantically calling NHS direct, terrified that my bowel might be about to rupture! GP who called us back seemed more interested in congratulating DH & chatting about the children than offering any useful advice! For once I'm actually pleased I'm so engorged at the moment - I'd had to express so DS2 could latch on so I had nearly 2oz of fresh milk for DH to finish his feed in a bottle! No, I'm not concerned about nipple confusion! DS1 won't be impressed to discover that his brother has stolen his Mammy-milk! He usually gets the expressed stuff & has a tantrum when he's finished it!

Frus, how's the mastitis?

Yy to being jealous of sleep! I did manage to get a 4 hour sleep between feeds though so that was nice!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/06/2013 12:40

jojo I don't believe in nipple confusion either. Dd1 went on nursing strike (because i started meds) for 4 weeks at a few months old, had espressed from a bottle all that time, then finally went back on the boob until 18mths.

Mastitis is improving slowly, went to breastfeeding group this morning and saw a bf counseller there, talked through latch on, and given new techniques to try, and had 2 successful feeds with a decent latch. And is now snoozing. So yay.

bringonthetrumpets · 14/06/2013 14:08

Still here. Still very pregnant after another night of prodromal labor. Nothing else to report really. Just trying to figure out a way to pass the day. Hoohum. Sad

PILs are here to meet DS2 for the first time. They keep trying to force DS1 to show interest in him too & keep commenting to DS1 about DS2. It took all my self-control not to shout at FIL when DS1 had just bumped his lip & was upset & FIL pointed out that "you're upsetting your baby brother"! Angry He's barely more than a baby himself & he was in pain & they're treating him like he's barely there & like DS2 is the centre of the universe! I've brought DS2 upstairs to do a nappy & feed... I can hear FIL wittering away & DS1 getting frustrated about being ignored. MIL is cooking the food that we bought... No doubt she'll be popping in & out asking where everything is! Would be less stress to do it ourselves! I do so love it when they visit. Especially when they arrive just as I want to be having a nap! I'm tempted to give DS2 a really long feed... Y'know, the kind that involves a 15 minute snooze afterwards! Wink

Jojobump1986 · 14/06/2013 17:42

Oh, & get this... FIL was asking me about my nieces & said "So, DS2 is the first boy of this generation then?" Hmm I'm so glad DS1 isn't old enough to be aware of any of this! Sad

bringonthetrumpets · 14/06/2013 18:06

Wow jo sounds like you've got a full house with only two visitors! Definitely take the chance to hideout in your bedroom with the babe!

OP posts:
kittykatsforever · 14/06/2013 19:59

Jojo I'm not a believer in nipple confusion either, both my dds have had a bottle aday since 2weeks old and don't seem confused on what to do when there is a nipple in the vacinity Wink
Sorry your ds1 got so pushed out today, I'd hate watching anyone do that to dd1, I find it hard enough just telling her to be gentle when she's trying to kiss dd2 smothering the life out of her and always try to say how nice she is and that her sister loves her, it's hard though as like you said they are just babes themselves!
On my tip for the day, has anyone tried breast shells? I got them free with my breast pump and absolutely love them, you put one in your bra over the nipple your not feeding from at the time of a feed and it catches the milk that leaks from your let down, keeps pads dry and I find collects as much as an oz that you can poor into a bottle as they steralized in just 2 feeds

Lorelei353 · 14/06/2013 21:54

Hi. No new babies I see. Hope you're not feeling too uncomfortable.

Things going great with me. Stitches are a bit sore but to be expected. DS is feeding like a champion. My milk came in last night so he's guzzling away but I am SO engorged. I'm massive and they're like rocks. I have a warm pad to relax the breast before feeding and hand express a bit too. How long does it take for supply and demand to balance out and engorgement to go down?
