Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Thank you :) I haven't had many symptoms yet, backache and trapped wind and quite bloated. I haven't had any sickness yet (I know it's early) but I've read somewhere that people tend to have less morning sickness when pregnant with boys, not sure if thats true but it makes me less worried about not having any!

LittlePeaPod · 11/05/2013 19:15

I don't know if the boy theory is right but if it helps. I am 5+4 and no sickness yet. Felt a little wobbly yesterday but not like some of the other ladies on here. I am bloated, farting like mad and I woke up with massive sore boobs this morning... Ha ha ha

mummyalex3 · 11/05/2013 19:20

Hi, after a few months of trying I discovered I'm pregnant, 4+3. This will be my 3rd, I have a 8yo and a 7yo. My EDD is 15th January 2014.
What's worrying me is the cramps I'm having, I didn't have them with the other 2. They only last about 15 mins and they are roughly at the same time each day. I've read LOADS about them being normal... Is that right? I'm having no bleeding at all, so that's a good sign right?
Please can someone put my mind at rest. I'm having the normal pregnancy symptoms; wind :-/ sore boobs, ridiculously tired all of the time, nausea etc.
Oh, also can someone tell me what all the abbreviations mean :-o Some I can work out, others - not got a clue lol.
Xxx

LittleBallOfFur · 11/05/2013 19:27

Argh just wrote a post and then Internet went down!

Was just going to say thanks for the kind wishes, you're all lovely.

missmakes I know what you mean about swinging between hope and sadness. I did have some bleeding around a similar time with my ds, so I feel like maybe things could be ok...but I'm not sure it was this bad.

mummyalex I'm getting cramping too and now you mention it is often at similar times of the day. Hopefully it's just things stretching and adjusting for baby.

Gosh there's so much to worry about isn't there! I hope everyone else is doing well!

LittleBallOfFur · 11/05/2013 19:29

littlepeapod I had very little sickness with my ds, would sometimes feel nauseous if I needed to eat but that was it. Counted myself lucky and hopeful for the same again! had horrendous constipation though

LittleBallOfFur · 11/05/2013 19:31

That should be to mrsgsr too. Sorry will stop spamming the board now.

MrsAVB · 11/05/2013 19:32

Welcome mrsg and alex
mrsg so sorry to hear about your loss, that must be really hard. Not that it's anywhere near as bad, but my mum has developed a serious condition that she'll have forever this year, and telling her about our bean is going to be difficult and heartbreaking (although she'll be thrilled) as I know she (and I) will be upset that she won't be able to be the kind of grandma she thought she would.
pea the article is worth a read but I didn't totally agree with it. I think I'm always quite private (obviously apart from with total strangers on MN haha) about things and, putting myself first, I wouldn't want to share my MC details with everyone - everyone's different though and some people find sharing helpful. The point was that MCs are more common than most women think and by talking more openly about them we feel less of a failure when it happens.

I cried at Wigan winning the FA cup! What is happening to me?!
On a better note after feeling sick all morning I am feeling much better (after taking the pooch for a long work) and I even managed some housework.
Dh also invited in laws over for a coffee tomorrow to break the news. If the bean sticks this will be their first grandchild.

Pidgy · 11/05/2013 21:11

Oh wow, a busy thread!

Hmmm..wonder if the morning sickness and gender theory is true. I often felt sick until about 16 weeks but nothing major, and I had a boy. Didn't kick in until about 7 weeks and haven't had anything yet (apart from a nervous sick feeling! Lol)

Is everyone taking folic acid? I'm a bit worried as I am now, but I'm guessing I conceived about 2 weeks ago, so only started taking it after I conceived. Do you think this really matters? I hope not.

miss don't blame yourself. No amount of lifting or exercise like that would affect a baby so small as its really protected in there. Hope you're ok and the mil is being nice. My mil (also Irish) complains my potatoes are too waxy?!

Mrs let us know about the bands and if they work. Can people see them and what do they look like?

Ohh.. The boobs! I remember that being one of the first signs with ds. Since I got my bfp I've stopped bf my ds. I always said I would aim for 6 months but carried on because it was a whole lot easier than sterilising and preparing bottles IMO. But, now it's time I think. It's gone surprisingly well , and even tho he was down to one feed st night, they are hurting and big!! Not sure if its the milk or the hormones , or both perhaps?

Just watching the apprentice we recorded...what a bunch of IDIOTS!!!

MrsGSR · 11/05/2013 21:19

I wouldn't worry about not taking folic acid for the first few weeks, plenty of people don't take it at all and don't have any problems, as long as your taking it now I'm sure it will all be fine :)
I didn't think my boss were sore at all until I just poked them, ouch!

MrsGSR · 11/05/2013 21:20

*boobs, I don't have a boss and if I did I wouldn't poke them!

Pidgy · 11/05/2013 21:31

Lol at you poking your boss, and thanks for the reassurance.
I do eat a lot of marmite so hoping that gave me some before I took the supplement!!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/05/2013 21:33

pidgy - I've had a surprise BFP which I found out about last Saturday. I didn't take folic acid until I bought some on Sunday

Out of interest, I'm taking the 7 seas stuff this time and it seems to be going down ok. However, with DS, I took sanatogen and felt absolutely awful. I have to admit, there were quite a few days when I pukey it straight back up and a few times, I just couldn't face it as I linked it so much with feeling sick. Blush. DS is fine and the midwife reassured me by telling me there is folic acid in a lot of food such as cereal and bread so I just tried to force some of that down.

Off to catch up. Hope everyone is fine

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/05/2013 21:38

My boobs don't really feel sore at all ATM which I'm hoping is OK as I think at this stage with DS, they did. Am wondering if its because I've just finished breastfeeding DS now he is nearly 6 months. I'm not feeling too bloated either Confused

I'm feeling knackered but not really sick. However, I don't think I started to feel sick with DS until 7 weeks so I'm just trying to enjoy feeling OK.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/05/2013 21:39

Definitely have trapped wind though - although it's releasing itself with alarming frequency!

MrsGSR · 11/05/2013 21:42

I've been obsessivly reading pregnancy books since last year and loads of them mention that every pregnancy is different, so I wouldn't worry if your feeling different to how you did with your DS :) I'm a really bad worrier so I know that's easier said than done!

I didn't think I was emotional but I've just cried twice at Britain's got talent, so maybe I am!

omama · 11/05/2013 21:42

Hi all - can I join?

only just found out these boards existed! (thanks chocoloulou Wink)

Got my BFP on Tuesday after 15 cycles ttc - am ecstatic!!! Grin EDD 9th January - am 5+2 today. This will be dc#2 - ds will be 3.5 by time baby arrives.

Have incredibly sore boobs & feeling pretty bloated today. Also having waves of nausea but no actual sickness so far. And am absolutely utterly shattered.

missmakes & little - thinking of you both & hoping everything ok

mrsGSR - I had barely any morning sickness when pg with ds - interesting theory re girls - we'll have to see if this one turns out to be a boy too!

pidgy - don't worry re folic acid - just start now Smile.

Those of you with children already - when do you plan to tell them about the new arrival or have you told them already? DS is 2.9 & we've decided not to tell yet because he'll blab to someone he shouldn't it seems too far away. We were thinking of telling him after the scan - or is that still too soon in the world of a small person? Maybe better once bump develops?

chocoloulou33 · 11/05/2013 22:06

omama :) you found us! I find it hard to keep up with the ladies on here, if I don't check for half a day there's been about 50 posts lol.
Sounds like we have same symptoms. I'm only getting waves of nausea too. But the tiredness is horrendous it rly is. I was very very sick when pg with dd so hoping it won't be that bad as lost a stone by time I got to 12 weeks. My best friend has had 2 girls & didn't have a hint of sickness though.
We r planning on telling dd, dsd & dss after 12 week scan as they are 7, 5 & 5 so think they're old enough to understand. Am sure we'll get lots of questions though. They asee themselves as brother & sisters even though me & OH aren't married, we've been together a couple of years & they r all so close so hoping this will bring them even closer together, a baby they r all related too! X

Pidgy · 12/05/2013 06:11

Hi omama..welcome!

gobbol, sounds like we're in pretty similar siruations!! It still doesn't feel real to me! My ds will be about 20 months when this dc is born. Not sure I've had time to feel tired yet. :-)
I did also read last time that some types of folic acid can actually make people sick. It's to do with the manufactured folic acid, and I believe you can get a natural version which is meant to affect you less. Saying that, I did take the santogen too last time and did feel sick, but carried in taking it throughout pregnancy and certainly didn't feel sick throughout, so who knows!

My lovely dh is taking me away to a spa hotel tonight! It's a return to work and 2nd anniversary celebration for us, and now a 2nd baby celebration. Smile
My mum is looking after ds. Will be lovely!
See u all when we're back!

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 07:23

Welcome, omama :)

Have a fab time, pidgy! You lucky thing.

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 07:55

Morning ladies and how we all doing today?

omama welcome and congratulations a on your BFP.... Flowers

Pidgy & Gobbo. You can get a natural alternative for the Folic acid. I am taking Solgar Prenatal Neutrients.

Pidgy. Have a fantastic time at the Spa.

Little. Thank you and I am hoping I am just lucky. Although only 5+5 so got time yet..

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 07:58

MrsAVb. Posted before finishing.... Half asleep. Ha. I can't seem to find original article but I a with you on the privacy issue. It still does amaze me how common it is though.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 12/05/2013 08:03

Hanks for the tips re folic acid - good to know in case the 7 Seas descends in to a similar vomit fest!

We gave DS his first taste of food yesterday at 23.5 weeks. He loved it! Everytime he's seen us since, he sticks his tongue out for more. Feeling very determined that he'll pretty much be able to feed himself before DC2 appears.

Pidgy - have a lovely time

Friz - glad you feel better

mummyalex3 · 12/05/2013 08:21

Re: morning sickness - with my 1st, a boy, I had terrible morning sickness, infact I was in hospital for 5 days every 2 wks, turned out I had hyperemisis :-/ it lasted well into my trimester. I also had preaclampsyia, so he was born 6+5 early.
2nd pregnancy I had quite bad morning sickness, but nowhere near as bad as first; also a boy.
With this pregnancy so far, just slight nausea. My symptoms atm with this pregnancy are different to my previous 2, maybe it's going to be a girl?! Fingers crossed, this pregnancy runs smoothly. Xx

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 08:29

Morning all you lovely ladies! Feeling in a positive sort of mood this morning and the sun is shining! Hurray!

Pidgy how lovely! Hope u have a fab time!

Re folic acid and nausea, on a previous thread several ladies swore their vits made their nausea worse. As a result I always take mine in the evening now in the hope that if they are right, I will be going to bed not long after I take them....

Anyone else having really vivid dreams? Mine have been really frustrating - had a frustrating one about the dishwasher of all things two nights ago and then last night I dreamt we got married again and our evening reception was in some dodgy nightclub, and each time I tried to pee in the unisex toilets this really tall guy kept peering over the top! Hmm
