Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

Essex Happy birthday to you mummy to be! And good luck to lutrinae and mumof2 - very exciting!

My carpal tunnel and swelling is causing me a lot of pain, esp in the night, so feeling a bit sh*te and knackered today from waking up with painful hands. Gonna get myself some wrist splints for the night to see if that helps. Can't get them on prescription GP says, so that's a bit annoying. still, if it helps me sleep...

Got a good friend and her DDs coming over for a nice pizza lunch out in a mo, so that'll be lovely.

Good luck to all you ladies trying to get things started. Lots of my friends found that reflexology worked for them.

37+3

num3onway · 05/04/2013 12:42

Hello april ladies!
Today is my due date and babynum3 is 3 days old! She's doing really well, nice little feed and sleep routine already! Good luck to you all x

Caladria · 05/04/2013 12:48

Waters broke at 10:30 last night - had been having period type pains but nothing like a contraction. Went to hospital for assessment and it all looks good, so sent home to see if labour started on its own. Contractions started pretty soon after we got home, but they can't have been that strong as I got some sleep. Now coming about 5 mins apart and wondering whether to call midwife again.

Caladria · 05/04/2013 12:49

Oh, and am 39.5

Fluffeh · 05/04/2013 17:19

Ooh good luck caladria.
I hope your baby's with you soon!

Regarding the diet, I need it! I'm seriously fat and not just on my stomach lol. Pre pregnancy I was a perfect size 8 now I'd be lucky to fit in a tent :(.
I've already lined up slimming world groups that are baby friendly and have convinced DP to drive me there. I'm hoping to give it 4 weeks post section and then start the group, introducing exercise slowly the following 4 weeks. If ebf helps with the weight loss that'll be fantastic but I really do need to sort myself out. It's like I have myself a license to get fat and eat anything that wasn't nailed down.

usernamegoeshere · 05/04/2013 17:44

grrr still 3/5 palpable, was kind of hoping MW would be more encouraging. Am booked in for sweep at 40+5 then induction 40+12, 19 days away, am beginning to feel quite sure bump plans to hold out till induction.

Still... maybe going to Jack & Jill market tomorrow morning (Scottish nearly new baby sale thing) so that will be something nice I guess.

Good luck caladria, to the ladies whose waters are breaking, is it like gushing everywhere? or just lil trickles that can be soaked by a sanitary towel? also, does the popping bit hurt? or just a noise?

Teapig · 05/04/2013 19:59

Happy birthday essex Flowers

Good luck caladria, can't wait to hear your baby news.

fluffeh I know what you mean about putting the weight on when pg. I haven't weighed myself so I don't know the real damage but I feel huge! On a positive note I went to a new hair dressers and the lady who did my hair had no idea I was pregnant. She was shocked when I said I was on maternity leave and even more shocked when I said baby is due the week after next. To be fair I was wearing a baggy maternity top but it made me feel a lot better!

I don't plan on dieting for the first few months. I want to get my fill of blue cheese, pate and red wine before I even think about dieting.

Hoping that baby might arrive next week but have a feeling I'll be late rather than early.

Caladria · 05/04/2013 20:15

Baby's here and perfect - in my wholly unbiased view.

photochick · 05/04/2013 20:57

caladria congratulations!!

teapig there is definitely a brie with my name on it as soon as this baby comes!
Was ashamed to learn l've put on 3 stone this week but people say I look great and I to be honest I don't quite know where this weight is. Going to try and eat well, get active (as summer should arrive sometime) and breastfeed and hope that this helps the weight come off.

itsaruddygame · 05/04/2013 21:20

Congrats Caladria! Well so far the thought of dieting whilst breast feeding is most unappealing .... I am bloody starving : ) I have also noticed that since being pregnant and becoming a Mum I am much more content re: my appearance and weight. I do need to lose a bit but am just appreciating my body and what it has done and continues to do in feeding my baby. It is nice to feel this way after years of being critical of any extra weight.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 05/04/2013 21:35

Well I've spent the late afternoon/evening ensuring that we don't rely on pizza (DH's favourite!) and takeaway the next few weeks by batch cooking macaroni cheese, beef stew, chilli and bolognese! Tomorrow I'll do cheese and potato pie but I'll need to go and buy more Tupperware - I underestimated how many I'd need! Basically I've gone for food that freezes and reheats easily that's cooked from scratch (I eat a gluten free diet so most ready meals are out!).

Weirdly I have quite significant food issues and was several stone overweight when I got pregnant but have only gained about 12lb during my pregnancy. I've found it quite liberating to not 'diet' the last few months. My plan is to get back to exercising when my joints are ready rather than worry too much about diet.

Congratulations caladria, look forward to more details when you can!

Dysgu · 05/04/2013 22:09

Congratulations caladria hope you are enjoying newborn baby cuddles.

Good to see that Hunter is making steady progress Trish and sounds like you are doing fabulously with the expressing. Hope it all continues to be big steps forward.

Re dieting and weight loss - I weighed myself the other day and I have (somehow) lost more weight than I put on throughout my pregnancy Smile I am currently 4lb lighter than I was before we started TTC at about this time last year. I have done nothing different other than run round after DD1 and DD2 and keep up with Evan.

And Evan is now doing fabulously! We had a check-up at NICU this morning where they discharged him (although he will continue to see his consultant every couple of months for a year or so). He was 5lb 3oz when he came home a week ago and today he was weighed at 5lb 13lb! He seems to really have got the hang of feeding in the last couple of days and they were very impressed with how well he is doing.

He wore his first real clothes today too instead of his usual sleepsuit - we went to the theatre this afternoon to see my DNeice and Dnephew in a production of High School Musical. Evan loves being in my wrap (a bargain from Joy and Jo if anyone is looking) and slept throughout the whole show apart from when he woke up, had a bottle and went straight back to sleep. He got a lot of attention on the way in and on the way out...

Mama sorry you asked a while ago about whether we keep Evan home. It has been quite a busy week TBH what with DDs being on school holidays. We have had a couple of quiet days at home (including one where DP took the girls out for most of the day) but mostly life has just carried on and Evan has just fitted in with us. I do make sure he is either snuggled up in my wrap which keeps him very cosy or else, if he is in the buggy, then I have both hoods up so he is totally contained and out of the cold/wind.

And I used some money we were given for Evan to buy a Star Fleece baby Wrap from NOTH - the small size is too big for Evan right now but he will grow into it and it is fabulous for being in the wrap/buggy/pram and transferring... we got the chocolate one

itsaruddygame · 05/04/2013 22:48

Great news about Evan doing so well dysgu! You must be chuffed to bits. We have managed a few trips out we have just been careful not to be outside too long in the cold. Having said that I am now in hibernation mode as Harry is cluster feeding and I am knackered! I love the fleece baby wrap - v cute : )

Dysgu · 05/04/2013 22:59

The fleece wrap is great ruddy I was looking for something to spend the money on that we would not normally buy. There are probably lots of things in that category but we wanted something that we would use a lot too and we tend to be pretty minimalist in what we buy for the DC!

We do have lots of people asking for cuddles and to touch Evan but I find having him in a wrap is great as it is hard for people to get at him! He is also so small and sleepy that he sleeps most of the time when he is not eating so I just have to tell people that he can't be woken. SO far he has only been cuddled by the immediate family and my parents although I imagine he will be more 'outgoing' in the next few weeks.

Trishstar · 05/04/2013 23:19

Congrats caladria!

Nicky glad Evan is doing so well!!!

Hunter has had another good day, and that's all we can ask for rather than rushing things!!! xx i put a new pic on fb x

On the diet front I'm not thinking about it esp after a c section! I want to get myself all better first.

I will get back to my running and exercise when I'm ready (I'd lost a stone before getting pregnant) but my priorities have changed! My baby is my number one and as long as I'm healthy I'm happy! I will never be tiny but my body made my beautiful boy xx

EssexWelsh · 06/04/2013 00:23

Well just hit midnight on my due date and just had my 'show' so could be imminent or weeks apparently, but at least something is happening ??

Anyone else with experience to say how long after their show did they go into labour?

40+0 woooooo hooooo!

JessieEssex · 06/04/2013 03:57

Essex with DD1 my waters broke about an hour after having a show, went into labour about three hours after that. With DD2 I had a gradual show all day and went into labour that night. It's different for everyone but things could start happening for you! Keep us updated.

So lovely to see all the new arrivals. Making me broody again (don't tell DH!) Nelly is nearly a month old already and chugging away at the boob as I type! She's already gone from 6lb9 to 8lb6 - quite an appetite on her...

jojo2509 · 06/04/2013 05:17

All this news so exciting and i am pleased to say that Eliza Mae was born yesterday at 7.41 weighing 7llb12 3 days before my planned c section! She is beautiful Smile
Think it was the bikini wax that started labour off so maybe one to think about for those waiting!! Good luck everyone. X

EssexWelsh · 06/04/2013 05:26

Anyone there?

So started having strong pains in my back about 4.10, tummy feels tight almost consistently but then back pain and tightness gets incredibly strong (contraction?) every 7-9 minutes for between 25-55secs. Is this consistent enough for true labour?

Just getting in bath, fingers crossed.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 06/04/2013 06:10

I'm awake Essex! I think that's sufficiently regular to ring the labour ward and let them know so they can advise you! Good luck!

I've had the best night's sleep in weeks....DH slept in the spare bed! I'm hoping he's slept better too :)

SneezySnatcher · 06/04/2013 06:49

Good luck Essex!

JessieEssex · 06/04/2013 08:27

Good luck essex, how exciting!

jojo, congratulations, lovely name.

BonaDea · 06/04/2013 09:19

Congrats jojo

Good luck Essex.

EmpressMatilda · 06/04/2013 10:15

Congrats jojo and caladria. Good luck Essex.

Yesterday was my due date so baby is now running late. Been doing lots of walking now the sun is out and drinking plenty of chilli hot chocolate! 4 cups of raspberry leaf tea a day and plenty of yoga on all fours.

Strong curry tonight. Might have to book in for that bikini wax!

Had strong BH last night keeping me awake but this morning all is calm.

SneezySnatcher · 06/04/2013 10:19

Oh my word! Just had a other sweep. The one on Tuesday was fine (doc did it) but my MW did today's.

It was really uncomfortable and she was explaining what she was doing e.g. 'Pulling the cervix forward' and 'stretching' - made me feel quite faint! Feel like this one was more likely to do something though.

Off for a walk now to try to get things moving - but I'm not hopeful!
