Hi everyone,

I wonder when you lovely folk are leaving work or have left work? I was meant to leave at 37 weeks but now feel like changing that to 33 weeks because I could do with some relaxation. ATM I feel like everything is just getting to me and winding me up ...

Ellypoo · 07/03/2013 10:54

It would be great if your consultant will let you hang on til Monday maybe, I hope you get to see them soon and find out what's going on. Is NICU shut where you are or full? I hope you don't have to go too far from home, however the important thing is that your baby is somewhere they can look after him properly xxx Oh, and I second 10 - some people just don't realise how damn lucky they are sometimes.

I have 8 more working days after today buttery, finishing work on 22nd March at just under 34 weeks, and I have a week of annual leave before my mat leave kicks in - I have to say, I'm so pleased that I can finish so soon - I could barely walk yesterday, even with crutches. It is only because they are delivering baby at 36+1 though - think I would probably try to hold out a little longer if it was coming later, but I don't know.

I hope the Wine helped berri - perhaps it is just because of the timing with DC1 having arrived by now, I hope that you start to feel a bit better soon though x

Great to see Seb is doing so well 10, is he still putting on weight well? He is sooo gorgeous!!

ng1412 · 07/03/2013 11:30

Maybe I hope they don't keep you hanging on too long and that you find out what is happening soon.

10 so glad to hear of Seb's continuing progress. You must be immensely proud of him x

I am suffering with backache, getting sick of it. I probably shouldn't complain given what some of us are going through here but I just feel so bleeurgh. Berri am not directly feeling what you are but I am getting more and more depressed about the amount of time left in my pregnancy and how badly I am coping now. I am worried that the next 8 weeks are going to be so difficult as thngs are hard now.

My DD has now learned how to crawl up the two steps from living room to the rest of the house which means I have to keep an eye on her as she runs amok. Plus she doesn't know how to get down the steps yet so she can't just come back to me when done. I spent all of yesterday runnng around picking her up and having her kick and pinch me in total tantrum. Am exhausted...

MissLurkalot · 07/03/2013 12:57

Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here for ages! My nickname is MissLurkalot now, but I name changed from Vickles recently.
I'm due with No 4 on 20 May.
It's so nice to read back through the threads to catch up with you all.
Someone mentioned taking Iron supplements.. One thing I heard to increase iron was to drink fresh orange juice with your iron riched meal. Also, to watch out when swigging from the Gaveston bottle, as apparently, it somehow counteracts the Iron supplement if you swig too much!
I'm 29 weeks now.. All going fine.
It's a boy! Making in 2 girls/2 boys (8, 4, 2 and 0!)
I cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone! I'm sure it will drag soon, but what with 3 kids and working at the weekend as a Children's Party Entertainer.. I just have the time to feel pregnant. But, I start Maternity leave at Easter, so I'm looking forward to some quiet weekends with the family.
I had a growth scan last week, all was fine. Also, GTT and Iron, and again all was fine.
Is anyone suffering with leg cramps? Crikes, bloody awful! I was hopping about the bedroom screaming the other night! My poor hubby thought I was in labour!
I hope everyone else is well?
Has anyone thought or names yet? I'm slowly working on hubby as I'm really set on Bruno!!! He made me watch the hilarious movie about yhe gay wannabe 'Bruno' the other night, the one with the Ali G character in....
It was brilliant, truly awful in places, but so bloody funny. In fact, hubby cried with laughter all the way through it! So, fingers crossed!!!

MissLurkalot · 07/03/2013 13:08

ng141.. I had awful back ache. My lower back went into spasm at 23 weeks and just couldn't move without being in complete agony.
I couldn't even wipe my own bottom :-(
But, I went to see a fab osteopath and he has fixed it and given my confidence back. I see him every 6 weeks whilst bring pregnant, then back to twice a year. It's all to do with the pelvis changing with the growing baby.. Pushing things out of alignment, and in my case, trapping a nerve. I cannot recommend it enough.
I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I did with all other 3 pregnancies! Hit 30 weeks and felt like poo!
I'm sure things will glow down and get worse for me too soon. I have been suffering with my moods, and burst into real tears/sobs once, sometimes twice a day! It's all shortlived though, as I recognise it being my irrational hormones! And snap out if it... But I didn't snap out of it so much with the other pregnancies.
Can you barricade your little one in somehow? Or get one of those really wide stair gates?
My 2 year old is at nursery two days a week, as we have to family help locally. He loves it there, and I'm benefitting from done me time.
We can only afford it as we've been saving the childcare vouchers up for ages now.

BeauticianNotMagician · 07/03/2013 13:15

Miss Welcome back.Wow you are certainly keeping busy.Im a gaviscon swigger.Had my bloods done last Wednesday and haven't heard back so presume my iron levels are ok.

Buttery I am starting my maternity leave at 32 weeks.Which will be the Easter hols.Im getting my maternity pay to kick in on 15th April.

Anyone else swelling up of an evening. My feet are really puffy by the end of the day.Im struggling a bit now.It hurts to walk and I'm looking fat.My face has started to look chubby now Hmm

MaybeAMayBaby · 07/03/2013 13:17

Had another scan today which looked a little more positive. They are all being very very nice (which is makin me cry!).
Baby's estimated weight is just under 2lbs (size of 26 weeks from looking online). So she will be very very small.
Delivery will be tomorrow. And neonatal think there will be a bed!! I am so happy.
All quite good news today. Had a touch and go moment when 3 midwives could not find her hb. But she was thumping and kicking at the time! She is a bit of a sinker. Every time they scan or try to do a CTG, she moves around so much they struggle to get measurements. I'm taking it as a positive sign!
My DD1 (3) is coming in to see me in an hour. I can't wait! And the annoying woman is going home!!! Yay! She was on her phone til after 12 las night. Talking at the top of her voice.

Right. Ladies. What do I need to get my DH to bring in? I have nighties (he bought 2 from tesco this morning-very little house on prairie. I don't DO nighties. I'm a pj girl). Big pants (my DM bought a size 22! I've been wearin a 16 during pregnancy!). Anything else that will help? Will I be in loads of pain after?

That's all really positive maybe. Gosh you will meet her tomorrow. How amazing. As everyone says the scans are notoriously unreliable - with my first they insisted the baby was very average and he clocked in at 9lb 6 at birth.

Make sure you have some comfty up and about clothes that don't touch the scar. I needed all the pain killers they would give me but never realised how constipating they are - they will give you stuff but make sure you have some natural supplementary stuff.

Also they kept insisting I get my own water - they like you to move ASAP but it was ridiculous so make sure you have your own supply. You will be v thirsty with all the meds.

Lastly I have only just read about this and never realised it was possible but after two sections will def ask. Apparently you can ask the nurse to lower the screen at the moment of birth just giving you a view of the baby and nothing else. For me this will be an absolute revelation if possible so if you'd like that I'd ask. Good luck xx

LittleSpade · 07/03/2013 13:58

Loads of luck for tomorrow maybe - sounds like you're being well looked after!

Also congratulations to 10 - can't believe how much Seb has grown and that he's breathing on his own already - you must be very pleased.

As for me, I've really started to feel tired this last couple of weeks and oh so full of baby! Still loving being pregnant but a little uncomfortable now too and finding it quite fustrating how little i'm able to do in a day. I've also caught the cold that DH had last weekend so feel quite wiped out by that.

Had my first NCT class last night - it was lovely meeting everyone and discussing the fact that we're all experiencing the same things and have the same hopes/fears and was proud of DH for being so knowledgeable.

Also think i may have had my first definately noticeable Braxton Hicks last night - very exciting!

Ellypoo · 07/03/2013 14:16

Fab news maybe, that's really positive!

Def slippers, dressing gown, I had some huge pj bottoms as well for after the catheter is out. Erm, if you can, baths with drops of lavendar oil & tea tree oil in afterwards are great. Breast pads too.

I would take some snacks & drinks in for after too - having been nil by mouth and then hospital food, you might need something a bit tastier! Also, the constipation was unbelievable, so either ask if they can start giving you something the day after the section, or get some liver salts or something in yourself.

berri · 07/03/2013 15:49

Maybe that's really exciting that you'll meet your baby tomorrow! And excellent news about the neo natal bed being available - must have been all the vibes from the board making things happen Smile

We'll all be thinking of you so keep us informed! Also add some hand cream to your list, you'll be using loads of the alcohol gel & its v drying. Other than that, slippers, flip flops, comfy clothes for after but nothing hot, snacks, hair bands....can't think of anything else but if I do I'll come back.

I had to go into hospital last night as I had a big bleed. They kept me till 2am and everything had stopped & the trace was normal etc so they eventually let me go home. I'm back there now waiting for a level 2 ultrasound to check my placenta - hopefully the tear hasn't reappeared. I hope me getting all upset yesterday didn't stress my insides out or something...
cheerful yank I imagine the shagathon is now over!

Wirrawoo · 07/03/2013 16:19

Hey berri hope it all goes well and your placenta behaves itself. Good luck with the scan.

We are so lucky with all these scans/steroids etc. nowadays, my mum has found it quite emotional hearing about all these modern developments as she lost 2 babies after me due to insufficient diagnoses and unavailable care in mid/late pregnancy whereas these days they almost certainly would have been fine. It's comforting to realise we have so much on our side medically these days helping all these gorgeous babies into the world.

maybe have been thinking of you lots... glad the noisy woman is going, do you have any noise cancelling headphones at home that your DH could bring in? A friend recently swore by them after spending a few nights in a busy London ward. so exciting that you will meet your bubs tomorrow! Will be thinking of you.

beaver sorry to hear about your house probs, that sucks :( maybe just start hassling them all non-stop... It's amazing how well that works sometimes! When we had probs getting the keys to our last place we basically went and sat in the office asking them politely and repeatedly until they realised we werent about to leave any time soon and mysteriously the keys appeared! Hopefully you'll be in there watching that West Wing Boxset in no time (and SNAPon that plan, we are getting excited about rewatching it all in the weeks before B-day! Nothing like a bit of Jed Bartlett to pass the time :) ) Also have Treme Boxset waiting there too.

Re the work stopping thing, I am almost 32 weeks now & planning to stop at 35 and a bit, but am realising that some projects are just going to be too much so am having to pull out of a few concerts before that. Am getting so tired now and playing the violin on terrible chairs for 7 hours at a stretch plus often hours of travel is just getting too much if I have consecutive days of work and cant rest anywhere. My mum is driving me to Bath on Saturday because otherwise I just won't get through the concert. It's kind of upsetting me actually, I hate pulling out of things and haven't submitted my stat maternity pay forms yet so am worried about money, but am just getting so tired... On the up side, just had a lovely doctor app where he gave me the whooping cough jab & got thumbs up on all fronts. He showed me how to feel which bit of the baby is where. Cool!

MammaBrussels · 07/03/2013 18:10

Can't believe we're about to welcome another 'May' baby to the world. Good luck for tomorrow Maybe (time for a name change?). She'll be here in time for Mother's Day!

Hope your scan goes well Berri.

Do they have kinestherapists in France NG? Perhaps go and see one of them about your aches and pains. Friends have said they're very good for dealing with pregnancy aches, I'm trying to book ten sessions now.

Had my Drs appt yesterday - the scanner broke so I didn't get to see the baby which was disappointing. Didn't get told off about my GTT, went for it today and now feel like a pin cushion. Should get the results on Monday.

DizziDoll · 07/03/2013 18:11

Helli all,

I have again failed miserably keeping up with this fred and haven't had a chance to eead all the posts.

I did read your post though maybe. 'Break a leg' tomorrow and enjoy meeting your little one.

I have started maternity leave (well, 2 weeks holiday followed by mat leave) this week but feel like I've not had a moments rest. I am knackered! Fingers crosses that next week will be better.

Hope you are all doing well!

Not sure how many weeks I am to be honest. Lost count...

Boodstress · 07/03/2013 18:27

Berri keep us posted - hope all went ok with the scan.

Bunnychan · 07/03/2013 18:38

I'm so jealous of everyone's maternity leave! I'm trying to keep going for another 9 weeks, with a two week break in the middle :-s My back is killing me too, every evening it starts aching but today it started in the afternoon too.
Good luck maybe- we'll be thinking of you tomorrow x

beaver33 · 07/03/2013 18:40

Maybe you're a definitely now! So excited for you - you'll be in my thoughts tomorrow. Glad everything seems positive and really, really jealous you're about to meet your wee girl.

Thanks everyone for house commiserations. We are doing everything we can - phoning agent and solicitor several times a day etc.

The worst point came earlier today when I looked up the landline number of our seller and my DH just rang her directly. I felt bad about doing this - she is 72 and not very mobile - but she was astonished. No-one had told her we were going to be homeless, she'd done everything we'd asked (but her solicitor just hasn't passed it on), she's all packed up and has been waiting to exchange for the last three weeks.

SCREAM!

F**king solicitors.

Ellypoo · 07/03/2013 19:54

Oh beaver, what an absolute nightmare - solicitors can be an absolute pain & really screw things up sometimes. Really hope you get this sorted ASAP, this stress can't be any good for you.

Berri, that sounds really scary - hope the ultrasound has been ok today and really pleased that the bleeding has stopped.

Maybe, thinking about you and little one, hope you had lots of cuddles with dd1 today xxx sending lots of positive vibes for tomorrow xxx

berri · 07/03/2013 20:37

Hi all, scan was fine technically - was in there 2hrs again Shock
They couldn't see where the bleeding was coming from but she spent ages looking at my placenta and couldn't see anything untoward...
So just told to rest again!

Hope everyone is doing better today Smile

SevenReasonsToSmile · 07/03/2013 21:15

berri the bleed must have been a big worry, but glad they couldn't see anything wrong. I expect its probably put yesterdays worries into perspective a little bit though.

maybe so glad there's room in NICU where you are, hope it all goes well tomorrow.

Welcome back dizzi and miss.

We're doing a charity fundraising quiz night tomorrow for Muscular Dystrophy, to go towards DHs London marathon fundraising total. We didnt finish until 11:30 last year when we done one by the time we'd cleared up, not sure how I'll cope being up that late!

OP posts:
MissLurkalot · 07/03/2013 23:04

beaver, I completely sympathise. We were technically homeless yor 3 weeks due to arsehole solicitors... We managed to find a private landlord of a student house who rented to us for just 3 weeks, at a fair price too. We treated it like an adventure and the start if our new life. The kids loved it... And it was bareable. Then, it was all forgotten when we moved into our lovely new home. Nothing could be done about it as our solicitors forgot to so something. Christ knows what it was. I can't remember!
19 months ago now... My baby was only 4 months old... And the girls 3 and 7, but I can remember sobbing my heart out, pleading with them to get their finger out, as we were going to be homeless.
Made a total tit of myself! But , I can remember the pure rage and desperation at our situation.
I'll be crossing everything for you.

Good luck tomorrow maybe.

Glad you're both ok now berri.

ng1412 · 08/03/2013 07:31

Crikes woken up with horrendous pain just under where my bra line comes near my rib cage. Anyone else? It is a shooting pain. Already been in tears this morning. Have taken bra off but still very bad....

Rhienne · 08/03/2013 08:04

Thinking of you Maybe.

beaver that sounds really positive about your buyer! If she's all ready and expecting to move, at least it's only paperwork, not that there is any doubt she'll buy or anything like that. Hope you get it all sorted out really soon.

Rest up Berri.

Counting down the days now. How many more days to work, how many more to be pregnant... I worked out yesterday I need to work about 99 more hours before going on leave! :o

SevenReasonsToSmile · 08/03/2013 08:17

ng its most likely just your ribs being squashed, though do get it checked out if the pain is still there to be on the safe side. Is it one side or both?
