My thoughts would be that BF is worth a try. If you don't feel too strongly either way and it doesn't work out you can always stop and FF instead :)

beckie90 · 09/03/2013 17:13

Foof thats what I'm like atm my belly through the day Lituraly doubles by time night comes and is so uncomfy it hurts I've also got lots of wind Blush but not Going to toilet a great deal.

lexi ds2 got up every 4hr through night for BF but wasn't latching great through night, although fine through day. First couple of days he didn't wake up once through night. I eventually changed to FF as he was staying on over an hour through the day and with a toddler it was hard to leave ds1 for an hour, also he wasn't gaining much at all. But this time I'm attempting to BF if that ends up like last time I think I'm going to combi feed xx

LexiLoganberryBump · 09/03/2013 17:59

Thanks jolly and beckie I am planning to breast feed to begin with and your right if it doessn't work out I can switch. I'm a planner and like knowing the best that I can what to expect out of situations, beckie it's interesting that your ds went 4 hours between feeds and I hadn't given any thought to combi feeding. I just need to chill out and see what comes. A worrier and a planner, god help me, I was much more relaxed with my first pregnancy, I'm doing it in the wrong order.

RuckAndRoll · 09/03/2013 18:26

sorry guys, mini rant coming! dh is hungover, snoring on the sofa 'watching the rugby' whilst I unpack from our two week holiday, cook dinner, sort the washing, and plan Sunday school. I asked him to book us a restaurant for tomorrow evening to finish off our holiday, he phoned one place who don't have a table and is now snoring again.
would I be unreasonable to cook my own tea and leave his dirty washing in the bag?!
baby went to its first international rugby game today, think it enjoyed it Smile

beckie90 · 09/03/2013 18:39

lexi he was really good and in a routine on BF but soon as it turned to FF he seemed to want it a lot more. Yea see what comes when it happens you know as soon as there here what you want to do :) just get a few bottles etc incase closer to end. I planned to BF ds1 but I lost a lot of blood and didn't come round till the next day and at that point and the following month after I was so weak, so I went with FF so dp could Help out. So with ds2 I was determined but it is worth a try if you can do it :)

ruck typical man lol, mines currently in Manchester watching barnsley v Manchester city, he went at 7am this morning. And Aww bless babys first rugby game :)

Xx

Woofers · 09/03/2013 19:00

Ruck similar but not as severe as your day! Dh 'watching' rugby with eyes closed. Meanwhile I have man flu, combined with ms and breathlessness and dog sitting 2 more dogs. It's snowing and dogs all expect 3 walks a day. 3 times I've got wet. 3 times I've dried 4lots of dog paws. Grrrrr

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend tho Smile

Locketjuice · 09/03/2013 19:29

Felt the baby today SmileSmileSmile

chocolatesolveseverything · 09/03/2013 21:30

Ooh 20 weeks today! Scan is on Monday. Really hope we can find out if it's a boy or girl.

Yay to Locket for feeling baby move. I'm getting a bit of cramping on and off, plus occasional weird sensations in my tummy so think baby must be active.

Ruck - Hope DH has started being a bit more helpful by now!

wavesandsmiles · 09/03/2013 21:39

Yay for the 20 week mark chocolate, I have 3 days to go.... My scan is on Thursday, and also hoping to find out whether my little acrobat is a boy or a girl.

I have had the most hideous of days. As usual I went to hospital for my daily IV fluids and anti-emetics, and towards the end they decided to site a new cannula as current one was put in on Tuesday. It was awful. Took an hour, and 2 collapsed veins before the midwife finally got it in, but then when she flushed it through (after taking original cannula out), my wrist swelled up and I cried with the pain. Basically my vein had broken or something, and so that one had to come out. No-one else on the ward was prepared to "have a go" as my veins are rubbish, so my Mother's Day treat is going to be further attempts at getting a cannula in before I get my fluids etc. Sad

chocolatesolveseverything · 09/03/2013 22:37

OMG that sounds so yuk Waves Sad

JollyYellowGiant · 10/03/2013 05:14

Oh, waves, you're having such a shit time of it :( sending hugs.

I am up because I have wind. I accidentally woke DH up with the noises coming from my bottom, so now I'm on the sofa to let him get some sleep. Neo g pregnant is glamorous!

Happy mothers' day!

Yvonney · 10/03/2013 08:43

Morning, Happy Mothers day mummies and mummies to be!
Waves - god that's crap. I have rubbish veins too but never had to go through that. Really hope everything gets better for you soon.
So jealous of all your scans. Mine not til 9th April, can't afford a private one.

I'm soo excited today as I'm off to stay in a hotel in Glasgow overnight with my mil and 2 sil's. My sil got us tickets at Christmas to see Girls Aloud and just turns out its tonight. So off to a nice hotel with swimming pool, got my bottle of Shloer, out for tea then concert tonight! Total girly, cheesefest, can't wait!!! ;-)

Have a fab day everyone xxx

ruck - god that would really pee me off!!! I hope he's making up for it today! The worst thing about going on holiday is the travelling then unpacking when you get home!

waves - that sounds really crap Sad - hope they have more luck today and it doesn't hurt as much, poor you!

yvonney - hope you enjoyed girls aloud - did baby enjoy it??

woofers - hope your dh is being more helpful now and you can get some rest - 4 dogs for 3 walks a day!!? I moan sometimes about having 1 dog that I walk once a day - now I feel like a lazy moo!

chocolate - good luck for tomorrow - how exciting!

locket - how lovely Smile -its such a weird but lovely feeling

Mothers day for me always seem to equal an untidy house as I refuse to be picking up after everyone, vacuuming, etc and dh never seems bothered, it does wind me up a bit. During my lie in, dh and ds laid on the sofa under a blanket playing computer games, when I came down the kitchen was a mess from him making breakfast, the dog and cat hadn't been fed, the place was a right tip and no-one was dressed. I sound like a right ungrateful cow but I find it hard to relax and not go round cleaning / tidying everyhjng up as it sets me on edge, I know I should just be grateful and try to relax!!

happy mothers day everyone!

wavesandsmiles · 10/03/2013 16:49

Survived hospital but has generally been a crap day so won't dwell.

Have found more local bargains, so, having spent the grand total of £57 I now have a travel system which includes first car seat and isofix base, a high chair, a vibrating baby chair, a play gym and 7 hooded baby towels. I think I should become a professional bargain hunter/negotiator!

DaveMccave · 10/03/2013 17:30

I bf dd for 15 months (when she lost interest.) Hope this one feeds till at least two. We are cosleeping too, so formula not an option as co sleeping when bottle feeding is riskier. For me personally there isn't a choice involved and although I know it's very hard at times I'm looking forward to it. That mutual oxytocin exchange when bf can't be beaten. I definitely lost a connection of sort when I stopped bf dd.

I did a huge baby clothes shop In h&m the other day, and I've just bought my final sling purchase (a connecta). Have loads of clothes, loads of newborn and some one size nappies, my mum has done several blankets and cardi's, I'm pretty much done! It's going to be really hard not to over do it now with 23 weeks still left to go!

MrsPennyapple · 10/03/2013 18:41

I still haven't bought anything at all for the baby! We have kept everything from DD, so there's nothing we really need, but I would like baby to have his / her own very first outfit. I have kept the first sleepsuit that actually fit DD, it's so tiny it doesn't look real! I would like to have something similar for this one.

Waves, sorry to hear about your crappy day. Your bargains sound ace though!

So, anyone else got leg cramps yet? I got my first one yesterday getting out of the car. Not too painful, but I could still feel it when I got out of bed this morning. I got leg cramps quite a lot with DD, leapt out of bed in the middle of the night a few times. I dunno, if it's not one thing waking you up, it's another! At this time I should be sleeping as much as possible, I really think it's unfair that you can't "bank" sleep, you know, store it up to use later when you know you won't be getting much?

Woofers · 10/03/2013 19:53

I'm very impressed with the bargain hunting. I'm also on the hunt for bargains. We have bought a car seat new and 1 pair of maternity jeans (in the sale) - everything else has been given to us or eBay.

I've just cried my eyes out at crufts friends for life.

Hope you have all been spoilt rotten for Mother's Day. Sorry to hear that (forgot your name) family haven't taken the hint about you doing reduced duties today. And spending time in hospital being cannulated. I'd choose a paramedic to cannulate me any time! If they can get a grey cannula in whilst on a blue run they can do me Grin

RuckAndRoll · 10/03/2013 20:20

waves that's some impressive bargain hunting! I thought I did good getting a £600 pram for £200.

Well bump got me a mothers day card, it's handwriting looks strangely like DH's!

Back at work tomorrow after two weeks on holiday, got that sunday night blues

muddybloodypuddles · 10/03/2013 20:23

waves - excellent bargain hunting! sorry day was a bit crappy x

MrsPennyapple - no leg cramps here but have woken up a few times trying to stretch my legs then feeling the beginning of cramp I quickly stop stretching (if this makes any sense?)

got a few bargains at the nct nearly new sale yesterday but all for DS - haven't bought a thing for new one yet - am waiting for the 20wk scan and we have soo much stuff from DS there isn't much point in buying much if its going to be another boy, although like Mrspennyapple said I will probably buy a 'going home' outfit.

Have received the hypnobirthing book (can't remember who recommended it now!) and am reading with interest - they're not contractions they're surges!!

have also decided I'm really quite moody - mood swings galore, am even annoying myself at times - even had a good cry Friday night as was feeling a bit over-whelmed and feeling like a crap mother to DS and should I really be having another one when i'm such a crap mum already? Anyway, in the morning I felt fine again...this is just one example. [rolling my eyes at myself]

LexiLoganberryBump · 10/03/2013 21:44

I've felt the start of cramps but have streched my leg out and have so far staved them off, I hate the ones that still hurt the next day so feel for mrspennyapple

I've had a lovely mother's day, the house is a mess but I don't care one bit, spent most of the day snuggled up on the seatee with DH and DD.

My DD made me a mother's card at school and I wanted to share the message she thought of and wrote. To Mum, I love you so much and so does teabag, lots of love from DD and teabag xxxxxxx (teabag is what we call the baby) it really touched me that she thought to include the baby in her card, I did tear up when I read it, the teachers at school didn't know why on earth she was going on about a teabag.

DaveMccave · 10/03/2013 22:11

That's cute lexi. Mine had written 'happee valintyns day' inside :) think she was a bit confused.

MrsPennyapple · 10/03/2013 22:43

My mothers day card from DD (19mo) was actually a birthday card, DP DD hadn't spotted that it says Happy Birthday at the top in small writing, followed by "Mum you're the cat's whiskers" in bigger writing underneath. Did make me laugh when I opened it :)

Stopsittingonyoursister · 10/03/2013 22:59

lexi and dave that's really lovely. I got woken up with a "Happy Mothers Day can I watch TV in your bed please" from DS, and a "Happy Birthday" from DD!! Got two lovely handmade cards, a plant pot "decorated" by DD and some bangles that DS chose himself from the PTA Mothers Day sale at school. Am thrilled, I love all the homemade stuff. I keep it all in two huge boxes in the loft We took my DMum out for lunch, with me DDad and my DSis and DNiece, so there was 8 of us. It was delicious and no cooking or cleaning involved - fab! Hope everyone else had a good day.

waves sorry your day was rubbish, but excellent bargain hunting! We are scan date buddies, really looking forward to Thursday. Just hoping the baby decides to co-operate and let us if they're a boy or a girl!

muddy DS had a friend over for tea on Saturday evening. They decided to barricade themselves into DS' room. They took every single item of clothing out of DS' drawers and wardrobe, plus every toy off his storage unit thing. It took me and DH combined an hour and a half to tidy it all up. He has been given a stern warning!!

chocolate best of luck for tomorrow!

Stiggley · 11/03/2013 11:28

Hi all

had nice mother's day - DH cooked me breakfast which I managed to keep down for once! DD wrote me a card, made a biscuit, planted flowers all at school and there was a special assembly which couldn't go to as working - bit gutted about that but DH went on behalf.

Have got some serious bladder kicking going on whic is really annoying! Also really bad back ache which I think is the position of baby - it is really painful and to think I have another 5 months to go.

we haven't bought a thing, but have most things clothes wise - well apart from if it is a boy! Just need to get a few things, as last time we got loads of hand outs (moses basket, breast pump, steraliser) so need to try and get hold of them again.

Good luck with all your scans, I have mine in two weeks. then i might buy some stuff.

TrixieLulamoon · 11/03/2013 15:43

Hi Ladies,

Oxford - I too have been trying to weigh up the pros and cons of an elective section and have decided, as long as the hospital think it is safe for me and baby to do so, I will be having a natural birth. I think it's the knowing what will happen when having an elective that I would struggle with. I hate needles etc and an elective would give me sooooo much time to dwell on what's going to happen! If it wasn't planned I think I would be ok.

Welcome Woofers

BF vs FF - Not something I feel strongly about to be honest. I will try to BF but if I don't manage to for whatever reason I will not beat myself up about it.

I have my scan on Friday. Will be 19+5. Am very excited to find out the sex, have 2 DD's so I think DH would like a testosterone boost! Though we don't mind either way, he is feeling a little outnumbered!

My pram obsession which has been hidden away for the last 7 years is back with a vengeance. I have already decided on a pram, completely changed my mind and changed it back again on several occasions! Driving DH mad.
