I've had such a scary time today. Went up to hospital as usual and roads were ok ish, but trees down from gale force 10 winds. Was having fluids when i got a text from school saying it was closing with immediate effect. Had remainder of fluids rushed through and was so shocked when I walked out, thick snow and took me nearly an hour for what is usually a 5 minute drive! Skidded a lot an have lost a wing mirror and went into the back of a car was very slow and no damage to either but was scary.

Now trying to work out how I'll get to hospital tomorrow. Have been told schools will be closed again so will have DD in tow. DS is at mums as he has chickenpox so she had him to sleep last night as he is off school.

Latest Bargain is a m and p changing station including bath for £20. I'll collect it when the weather is better.

19 + 6 and wondering if my sickness will EVER pass!

RugBugs · 11/03/2013 17:49

I think we've gotten off lightly with the weather, it's bright and sunny again after an hour of snow earlier.
I really hope your roads clear up Waves so you can get where you need to go. I can't believe you are still suffering, I really hope it eases for you soon.

I've been pondering birth options and concluded that I do not want to give birth in my MLU. I have zero confidence in them after last delivery and parts of my notes are pure fiction to make up for their slacking.
Leaves me with home birth (would solve childcare I guess) or scheduled induction (only thing to guarantee being on consultant led labour bit)/elcs.

Anyone with experience of elcs? The women that had them when I had DD seemed to recover remarkably quickly, were up and about as normal the day after and home the day after that.

muddybloodypuddles · 11/03/2013 19:58

waves - blimey can't believe your ds has chicken pox - as if you haven't got enough to deal with! You're really being tested but i admire that you seem so positive all the time. Glad you're okay after your scary drive

rugs - sorry no experience with elcs but a friend of DH's says they have it as the norm in south africa - they think we're mad for trying to give birth naturally!

stiggly - glad you managed to keep your food down and had a nice mothers day Smile

stopsitting - oohmg that would've driven me potty! Just been to college today and it has taken me around 2hrs to clean the kitchen and tidy up after 'mothers day' yesterday! think it was worth it for a relaxing day anyway Smile

I'm worried about the birth already, dh says the mlc was too slap dash last time but I found it relaxing (although its closed from lack of funding now anyway), I am quite worried about hospital being so clinical I know that will make me tense up anyway - doesn't help that I'm sitting here watching the bbc program about superbugs in hospitals! I am also not brave enough for a home birth, esp after last time when ds was in trouble (meconium in the waters) and they said I have to push him out now or go in an ambulance - this was right near the end when you really really don't want to move nevermind be placed in an ambulance. I;m sure it will all be fine - I'm such a worrier!!! Not sure what I'd do if I didn't have something to worry about...

muddybloodypuddles · 11/03/2013 20:35

BTW- can't remember who was asking about supportive non-wired bras for the slightly more endowed Wink - I found this website - www.brastop.com/maternity-nursing-bras.aspx - I bought the hot milk destruction one and it is sooo comfortable!

chocolatesolveseverything · 11/03/2013 22:15

Hello all,

Had my scan today. All looks fine... and it's a boy! (No girls yet for this thread I think?) Good luck to those having their scans in the next week or so Smile .

So I'm definitely feeling some movement occasionally now, but he generally seems like a chilled out little chap EXCEPT for when mummy gives him sugar. Thought it might be a one-off yesterday when he started dancing a jig after my hot chocolate with churros (mmm!), but then I had a biscuit during a work meeting this morning and within minutes the kicks had started going again! I'm going to have to watch my diet Blush.

Abilee90 · 11/03/2013 22:32

Chocolate - yay another boy :D that now me, you, beckie and stacey lol defo a boy year :D have you got any names? Our little man will be sam james william read :D

Evening to everyone else :)

Nothing to report, horrible weather. Snow, gale force winds and -3 so have hibernated all day.

Little man is such a figit, really getting strong now.

Love both my kiddies so much. Cant wait to meet little man now.

19 weeks :)
Scan in 10 days :D
Xxx

chocolatesolveseverything · 11/03/2013 22:36

No clear idea on names yet. DH is keen to get one that isn't already used by a friend or family member - and that doesn't leave us with a lot of options it seems!

I'll find the stats list and update the gender there. Let me know if anyone wants me to update their details at the same time.

Abilee90 · 11/03/2013 22:43

I dont think i'm on sats. Could u add me please :)
1 dd Dc2 - 6/08/13 - BOY!!! :)

Ah we had sam from first pregnancy :)
Men are hard work my dh is terrible. You just wanna bonk them on the head lol :)

Xxx

chocolatesolveseverything · 11/03/2013 22:50

Done Smile
Right, I'm off to bed now - night!

Woofers · 11/03/2013 22:50

Oooohhh it's so exciting - when we went pram shopping a few weeks ago the sales girl said the majority of new mums going into the shop are not going to find out the sex. We are. Finger crossed.
I have had several offers of psychic predictions with string and wedding ring. I might do nearer to the scan date - not until beginning April!!!!

Waves - how on earth do you carry on?! I think you may be Wonder Woman. I will nominate you for the award.

Blizzard here too, but we managed to get the dogs out in the sunshine earlier. Makes settling down in front of the wood burner all the better.

Rant warning ahead - people at work keep telling me 'ooh careful what you eat, you don't want to put too much weight on while your pregnant' to which I reply, actually I feel so sick most of the time that if I fancy something I'm going to eat it, and I have lost 6lb since knowing I'm preggers - unintentionally.
The response I KEEP GETTING is "well done!"
I mean, well done! FFS.
Rant over

Stay warm Smile

beckie90 · 12/03/2013 09:11

Chocolate congrats :) xx

FoofFighter · 12/03/2013 10:03

Aww thats lovely chocolate :) wonder who will get the first girl or are we all destined for slugs snails and puppy dogs tails??

Is there anyone on the thread who isn't finding out? We aren't.

OP posts:
Christelle2207 · 12/03/2013 11:06

well done chocolate. I'm not finding out but am pretty convinced it's a boy this end. DH not so sure but he is totally against finding out. Quite like the anticipation.

waves I really feel for you having such a tough time yet you're being a complete trouper.

So all generally ok here, scan one week today however just these last few days everything seems that little bit more difficult esp bending over/putting on socks! Anyone else? Also am just beginning to waddle like a penguin! I have another 21 weeks of this so dread to think what I'll end up like. Im pretty slim and not showing much.

Christelle2207 · 12/03/2013 11:08

trooper!

wavesandsmiles · 12/03/2013 11:32

I'm still at home waiting for the ambulance transport service to the hospital. Beats trying to drive, and definitely not well enough to walk so snuggled under my duvet for now.

RuckAndRoll · 12/03/2013 12:08

waves hope they come and get you soon. Under the duvet is definately the place to be.

We're not finding out the sex (well that's todays decision, subject to change!). It's our first and we really don't mind either way. DMIL and DSIL want us to find out which is interesting given when DSIL was in this situation last year DMIL was telling us you should never find out the sex as it's all wrong being able to know!

Had my 16 wk mw app yesterday, all good and got to hear the heartbeat - once baby decided to stay still for her. She commented we have a real wriggler Smile. Also off to see the consultant this afternoon to talk about meds for my medical issues I had before. DH can't get off work so I'm on my own and really don't want to be.

18+2

RugBugs · 12/03/2013 12:53

Hurray Chocolate how lovely!

Waves I hope you get picked up soon

Sorry your DH can't be with you Ruck, I'm the other way ha! DP insisted on coming to my routine mw appt when he really didn't need to but at least he kept DD mostly entertained!

Feeling sure the dreaded spd has reared it's head, hips have been a bit sore when sitting up straight for a few days but out walking this morning I was in a fair amount of pain in my left hip where it was worst with DD.

Still swaying between home birth and begging for induction at 38wks, interesting reading about my trust at birthchoiceuk, only half of mums are even offered a homebirth.

duende · 12/03/2013 13:07

Congratulations on all the positive scans and news about boys :)

Waves, I hope they get you soon and I hope you finally start getting better.

My 20week scan is on Monday, looking forward to it and hopefully finding out the sex.

I'm in Poland this week with DS, he's having a brilliant time with his grandparents, I'm resting and eating a lot. :)

Back to work next week :/

MrsPennyapple · 12/03/2013 15:13

Wow, there are a lot of boy babies expected aren't there? My friend has just found out she's also having a boy. We're not finding out, I like the idea of a surprise.

I'm getting twinges of pelvic pain, but only if I've done a lot of walking. (Note to self: Sit down and eat cake!)

FoofFighter · 12/03/2013 15:39

these last few days everything seems that little bit more difficult esp bending over/putting on socks! Anyone else?

yes me, starting to feel very uncomfortable, struggled to put my shoes on today while out at a coffee date, belly gone mahoosive.

I've accidentally found maternity ward on really tv channel. It's American. The opening sequence was resuscitating a newborn! And then making a huge deal about vaginal delivery. It was like one born every min, mixed with 24 hrs I a&e. won't be watching that again!

Abilee90 · 12/03/2013 17:52

I wouldnt say natural labour is a stroll in the park. I had a terrible time and having nightmares about it and thought of doing it again. I really did have a bad time. Wish people wouldnt sugar coat it, when they tell you about it as it paints a false picture.

RuckAndRoll · 12/03/2013 18:05

Rug I could've done with DH today. Sat here pondering whether to complain about the dr I saw, or at least raise an issue with the hospital. His English was so poor he didn't understand anything I said, and vice-versa. He was writing things in my notes that were wrong and I was having to correct him as he didn't understand me. I have a fairly neutral southern accent so don't think it was that. He was also really rude and dismissive the whole time.

On the plus side I've been discharged from consultant care, as long as everything remains the same, which means the midwife lead labour unit is back as an option.

Abi I'm perfectly aware what can go wrong but still don't want to watch tv that shows everything going wrong. I struggle enough with one born as I know every labour is different and no-one can predict what type I'll have.
