Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining in! Good to see you're all very chatty - 25 pages!
I had a positive result on Friday, re-tested Saturday just to be sure and I think I'm 5 weeks now. Have an appointment to see my GP on Friday so will be 6 weeks by then. Have only been pregnant once before which ended in MC so am hoping that this time will be a healthy pregnancy.
I've noticed some people on the thread saying they have cramps, almost like period pains. I've been getting these too, but actually I think they're quite reassuring that something is happening. Last time I had a MC I felt like everything had just stopped, no more fluttery feelings, no nausea, nothing at all, then suddenly I had heavy bleeding and that was it, so I'm pleased that I can feel someting going on down there now!
Am looking forward to chatting with you all Smile

Welcome freyaee any idea on an EDD?
Dd1 is currently having a nap after her 6am wake up hubby is at tesco getting a prescription for pregnancy friendly ear drops and some rolls for lunch

Any one having cravings yet? I ave a craving for cheese and pickle(has to be small chunk pickle) rolls (has to be crusty rolls) and lemonade lol I dunno if I would call it a craving as such yet but definitely a desire to have these things!!!! Xxx

roofio87 · 10/02/2013 11:59

Natalie I had a weird moment the other day,I was making fish fingers and beans (yes I am 5yo!!!) and I had such a need to have it with a big dollop of brown sauce. normally I really don't like brown sauce, its too spicy for me but I jutting had to have some!! weird!!
welcome to all the newbies!! frayaee I'm also finding my symptoms encouraging even if I feel a little rubbish!! I hope this pg goes well for you!! x

Freyaee · 10/02/2013 12:21

Thanks Natalieand and roofio87, yep my EED is 12th Oct according to the due date calculator on here. Trying very hard not to worry about anything going wrong, but I guess worrying is inevitable!!

I've been having cheesy cravings too, Natalie, though like you not sure if I can really call them cravings yet, just a strong desire to eat cheese! Also really found I've been wanting to drink milk, which I never do. My DH has just made me a cup of tea even though I told him yesterday I need to cut out the caffeine and it smells amazing.

I'm trying to read through the earlier posts but there are SO MANY I don't think I'll get through them all. I have just read about people worried about smoking relatives though. My DH's grandmother essentially chain smokes, and doesn't take herself off to another room to do it either. I'm worried about how to approach him asking her not to smoke around me as he is VERY sensitive about her (he's a bit of a nanny's boy!) I usually find that sweet, but this time I'm worried he'll be annoyed by my concerns (especially if it means having to tell her before the 'safe' 12weeks). My parents smoke too, but they always go outside and I can easily tell them not to smoke near me. Any tips on how to approach this? Anyone else had to tell relatives to stop smoking?

Rockchick1984 · 10/02/2013 13:20

Freyaee you have my sympathies, my DH's parents chain smoke and don't see anything wrong with smoking around pregnant ladies or around children Angry We sat them down to tell them I was pregnant and lied a bit told them that due to a history of asthma in my family I am overly cautious about smoke and chemicals etc - made out like it was me being daft rather than them being insensitive. It worked while I was pregnant but they started again once DS was here Hmm so in the end we have pretty much stopped going to their house and meet them in cafe's so they don't have a choice.

roofio87 · 10/02/2013 13:39

well, the cat is well and truly out of the bag here. my MIL has told everyone in my dps family about the pregnancy!! its my fault for just assuming she knew not to tell anyone until the scan. feeling a bit put out by it and feeling under pressure for everything to go well. his grandparents would be gutted if anything happened as they've been through a lot lately. DP has apologised and I know she wasn't being malicious she's just excited. both my DP and his family just seem to think that this pregnancy is a certainty and I'm the only one beige cautious. sorry, just wanted to get that little rant out to someone!! sure I will ring my mum later for a complain!!
hope everyone else is good today xx

Empress77 · 10/02/2013 14:32

Hi all, could I add to the list/thread please - my first pregnancy - Im due 12th october-have been really worried about being excited too early but did a third test yesterday and all still ok! No symptons yet except for the feel of something going on in there this week. Im really desperate to tell my parents but wont be seeing my husbands parents for a while so am trying to hold back to be more fair! Cant wait too for the time to go to where I can have a scan and check alls ok and can announce it to everyone, its too exciting to keep a secret!x

Sal1977 · 10/02/2013 15:32

Wow, I have had the most mental weekend!
My whole family (mum, dad, bro, sis and grandad) were randomly at my sisters for lunch today and as we were staying here at my sisters for the weekend (mum is over from Spain) we had a great time telling them!
Then...we were all having lunch today and DP got up and asked for my help, then dropped to his knees in front of everyone, produced the cutest little diamond ring and popped the question!!! I'm in shock and just can't believe it! I don't know what to think about next!! Our first baby or getting hitched!! What a nutty week!!! Xx Grin

roxvox · 10/02/2013 15:33

Afternoon everyone and welcome Empress77 and Freyaee.

How are you feeling now pinkbuttons? A bit better I hope.

I'm having a weird day today. I am happy, but I can't stop crying! I was going to pop to Mothercare to get a night bra (have started waking up with really sore boobs), but decided I didn't really feel up to it and so DH offered to take me and I burst into tears. Then I saw him rocking a cot in the store and I was crying again... Seems as though my emotions are a bit all over the place. How are you all feeling?

DH seems to have started getting a bit excited now and when I came out of the changing rooms he had loads of baby stuff he wanted to show me... It's started to get me excited too but I know not to count my chickens yet.

Oh roofio87 I'm so sorry that you've not had any choice in your secret being kept. As you said, your Mil must be very excited and that in itself is a very good thing!

roofio87 · 10/02/2013 15:46

oh sal massive congratulations on your engagement!! I've always thought being asked in front of your family is lovely!! Smile

Sephy · 10/02/2013 15:49

Hiya all,
I may be a bit too keen, but FRER today was BFP (quite faint) on 12 do. So I'm just keeping fingers crossed that no sign of AF on Wednesday.
I've had bad wind and, er, otherr bowel issues this week, but otherise just feel pretty normal.
How soon did everyone get to the gp? Should I wait til AF is actually late?

roxvox · 10/02/2013 15:52

Ah, sal1977, sorry you must've written that as I was writing my last post and so I missed it.

Congratulations! That's fantastic. And what a really sweet way to propose!

Sephy · 10/02/2013 15:57

Just got round to reading a few more of others' posts, such an amazing day for you sal!
And sorry you're s bit weepy roxvox, sounds hard to deal with in a shop.
Not even thought about the minefield of telling family yet, sorry the decision was taken out of your hands roofio,I'd be pretty upset too.

Empress77 · 10/02/2013 16:39

Goodness congratulatuions sal1977, super exciting!!x

BirdsDoIt · 10/02/2013 16:41

Oooh sal how exciting, congratulations!!

Sephy - I still feel like I might be being a bit keen after 5 positive tests! I know in my head that a line is a line but every time I do another one I'm pretty much convinced it's not going to appear - not helped by no real symptoms so far apart from slightly sore bigger boobs and occasionally dodgy tummy...weirdly would feel happier if I felt sicker! I went to gp once AF a week overdue and after four tests :-) But they didn't do anything apart from refer me to midwife for booking in appointment at 8 weeks and then first scan at 12 weeks - very exciting but time is going SOOO slowly now.

BirdsDoIt · 10/02/2013 16:44

By the way how are people handling the time off work for these ante natal appointments? Didn't really want to tell my boss (who recently had MC) that I'm pregnant until after 12 week scan (we haven't told anyone at all yet) but to take a morning off for doctor's appointment mid week would be so unlike me that she's bound to suspect something! Slightly dreading telling her anyway, whether before or after scan...anyone got any wise advice?

Haylebop12 · 10/02/2013 16:52

Fortunately I work p/t and checked my off duty today to find out I have the morning off I need to attend first mw. [smug]

roxvox · 10/02/2013 16:58

Hi birdsdoit
I started off by complaining about having headaches at work, then I said "this is ridiculous, I am going to book a doctors appointment" and then after that appointment I told my boss that I've been referred to a neurologist (aka midwife) and that I would get a letter through confirming a date. I don't intend to show them any letter, but I just thought that would sound more realistic! Then after a couple of days I said I'd had my letter through and gave him the date/time of the midwife appt.

roxvox · 10/02/2013 17:00

Going on from that, all being well, I intend to have to revisit the midwife neurologist at around 12 weeks for the results of my first visit Wink ... After which I will be able to tell the truth to my boss!

roofio87 · 10/02/2013 17:02

I told my boss straight away as I work with young people who can sometimes be a little rough with staff so I'm not allowed to work one to one with them now!! does make it easier though.
I've been having a bit of pain in the left side of my tummy today. it came on last night as.soon as I stupidly ran for the bus home. I'm 90% sure its just a pulled muscle but I know if I told anyone I was having pain on one side they'd say to go get checked out asap. I'm torn between being cautious and just over reacting. what do you all think?!x

Soupqueen · 10/02/2013 17:18

Possibly worth a call to out of hours service?

Re time off for the scan, I think I'll just book a half day's holiday. I don't want to lie about it, but equally won't be telling anyone until after the scan.

Natalieand · 10/02/2013 17:29

Congrats on the engagement!!! I don't have the work/appt dilemma hubby works and I am a SAHM. No real symptoms at all for me today, no pains, and no upset tummy. Wish these blooming scan dates would hurry up and arrive argh!!! I'm so impatient xx

legallyblond · 10/02/2013 17:32

Hi all. Feeling so so so sick. Constant nausea and gagging at EVERYTHING. I never had this with DD. Eurggghh. Not good. Sickness with a toddler on the potty and a 12 week old puppy is not turning out go be brilliant!! Grin

I love how everyone here is starting to get so excited!!!!

As a gentle tip though, I think it's time to stop spending money in pregnancy tests!!! Once you have a positive... You're pregnant! The very sad truth is that even if we were to miscarry, we'd show as positive on pregnancy tests off about 4 weeks or so anyway as the hormones start to decrease. So in the nicest possible way... Dont spend any more money on them!!!

Pinkbuttons - how is it going?

BirdsDoIt · 10/02/2013 17:49

roxvox that is a very cunning plan! I'm not sure my acting skills are up to doing something similar though - such a rubbish liar. Maybe a slightly random half day holiday is the answer - or i'll just call in sick that morning...Then I don't need to worry about telling my boss until I'm reasonably safe, past the 12 week mark (and by that point maybe I'll actually feel as if I am genuinely pregnant rather than imagining it, so it will feel less weird to tell her!)

roofio if you're worried maybe call nhs direct? If it started as you ran for the bus then it does sound likely to be a pulled muscle, but prob best to seek some advice even if only to put your mind at rest...

natalie i am with you: soooo impatient. DH aggravatingly patient by contrast (or seems to be, anyway!)

funkky · 10/02/2013 17:50

Hi again everyone! Apart from tiredness, and a bit dodgy in the belly, I actually feel great at 6 weeks (7 weeks Tuesday). AF type pains have stopped.

I got letter confirming 12 week scan in March but nothing about any MW appointment before then so calling hospital tomorrow to ask about that.
Started to take metal out of underwire bras, cut it a bit and take it outBlush Just bought a whole new set of underwear at Xmas and can't be splashing out on new non-wired ones yet. I'll just see how it goes.
