Really feel for you camomile and zeux Sad. It's a long way to come to start again another time, but all the best to you in the future.

Given that nothings really guaranteed for any of us at this stage (so humbling to have to acknowledge that it is totally out of our control) - when and how do you get paperwork about maternity leave / allowance? the old 'MAT1B' i've heard so much about? I've just realised I didn't ask my MW about that.

I'm so sorry Zeuxippe and Camomile, what horrible news. I hope you are both being looked after and well cared for. Big unmumsnetty hugs from me. X

I'm interested to read what people are saying about NCT classes. DP and I have booked onto some in July in Wilmslow, which is a little way from us but close enough to be able to keep with people I think.

I don't have any close friends with little babies or who are pregnant (as far as I know!) so it seems like a great chance to make friends with people in the same situation!

Readytosettle · 30/01/2013 18:46

I'll be ncting just to meet people... Got no real interest in listening to smug people tell hubby & me how to handle our relationship etc. but I don't know anyone locally with a baby & can't bear the thought of 6 months at home on my own!

andadietcoke · 30/01/2013 18:48

We're doing NCT classes in July in Marple, where we live. I don't know anyone at all my age around here so that they were in our town really swung it for us, in the hope that we'll meet people.

Dorita75 · 30/01/2013 18:56

I'm so sorry camomile and zeux it's such a sad sad time, I hope you've both got people looking after you. Take care xx

Catpuss remember what you were told about sex, there'd be blood, could a pelvic exam not also cause some....you're not leaving the bus!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 30/01/2013 19:05

That makes sense Dorita. Thank you. Im going to hide in bed in a minute. Hopefully I wont wake up until

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 30/01/2013 19:06

...late.

KamikazeeKid · 30/01/2013 19:18

Nct was an awful experience here! I was only doing to meet friends but I met plenty at playgroup who I see now. I've heard very mixed reviews on nct Good and bad so proceed with caution and an open mind!

Really sorry to the 2 ladies :-(

Good luck catpuss!

badguider · 30/01/2013 19:25

I'm guessing i'll meet people i have more in common with at my yoga class, particularly the one at the studio i already do yoga at. And dh doesn't really need to meet any new fathers - he's older than me and ALL his closest friends have had kids in the last few years, and he can barely keep up with his existing friends!
We're the last of our friends who are likely to have children to do so.
Also, I know two friends near me are pregnant, one just told her work but nobody else (i know her boss) so i'm guessing is about 12wks at most and the other just had a 12wk scan so both will only be about 4 weeks ahead of me if we all hit our EDDs.
Being self-employed I also don't have a long mat leave to think about. I'll be going back very early (about 3mnths if poss) but only for 1day a week to start (with dh doing childcare, if the baby doesn't take a bottle i'll have to work from the home office) then 2days from 6mnths onwards.

fl0b0t · 30/01/2013 19:35

I have no idea about NCT classes yet!

Good news was I felt well enough to eat a whole pizza! I'm ecstatic! I now feel pretty shocking so maybe it was a bad idea... but I'm taking it as a positive overall.

I've been very up and down today (tearful and sickness wise) but have been wearing my newly acquired travel sick accupressure bands all day and they seem to have slightly taken the edge off.

LexyMa · 30/01/2013 20:12

I've just cried all the way through Call The Midwife.

knackered today. Have to take DS to a vaccination appt after work tomorrow so will need stamina... so I'm off to bed now.

sorry Camomile and Zeuxippe. Hope you can get back on a bus soon xx

frogchops · 30/01/2013 20:35

How very sad to hear you news camomile and Zeux.... Lots lot love and luck!
I have just been to my drs for the 'boob poke' ....it was fine, he just, well, poked them a bit.
Have booked my booking in for feb 13th when ill be 8 +4 hopefully.
The dr did make me really worry though by telling me how common mc is and that lots of pregs end this way. I was so scare d when I left :-(
He also said my wee smelt funny Blush and wants to do tests, dunno what that means.

HettySunshine · 30/01/2013 20:38

Froggy my dear, your doctor sounds weird! Are you sure he's up to the task?

frogchops · 30/01/2013 20:44

Haha, I've just read my post and can see how weird he sounds....but actually I've changed to him from the weird other doctor!BlushBlush

frogchops · 30/01/2013 20:45

He did have a nurse chaperone while he was fondling my boobs though so I'm sure this must be normal.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 30/01/2013 20:45

Been eating asparagus Froggy?

jm233 · 30/01/2013 21:14

Hmm Is he definitely a doctor?

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 30/01/2013 21:17

Hello, I'm going to join you all, starting to feel a bit real now. I'll add myself later but..

Redandyellow, 36, dc2, BFP 14 Jan, EDD 20 September.

Badguider you won't get your MatB1 until you're about 20 weeks.

KamikazeeKid · 30/01/2013 21:20

Lol never had my norks poked by the drs?!
Did he provide a reason????

On this topic tho....my boobs may be my first giveaway that im Preggers....they are huge already. ....this didnt happen until after birth last time!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 30/01/2013 21:20

With his hands frog or with some medical gizmo type thingie??
What was he trying to check for? Mystified.
Surely you could attest to soreness or size increase?

frogchops · 30/01/2013 21:28

He said this was normal procedure as when ur pregnant, lumps can be more evident and can show up easier, apparantly its just cautionary. He listened to my heart and poked around at my boobs as if I were to check myself. No instrument, just his hands. Blush And no, lol, no asparagus!!

amiready · 30/01/2013 21:44

Batfuttocks thanks for the doppler tips, I'll have a go next week.

Seeing the midwife for a booking in appt tomorrow - just arranged today! That's exciting!

Sorry to the lovely ladies who've had bad news. That's two now gone from the 9th of September, my EDD buddies.

Still no symptoms over here! Oh well, ho hum. 8+3 today....

batfuttocks · 30/01/2013 21:49

It really isn't normal procedure! It's terribly thorough, at best. At worst....? Lumps do develop with oestrogen exposure but you are perfectly able to monitor for that, then request nork check if you need! Is he old? May be an old school thing to do but def not your standard GP activity. Speaking as someone who has worked in both antenatal clinics and GP surgeries!

frogchops · 30/01/2013 21:55

No he's not old, maybe 40 at most. There's two drs at my surgery and I know they both do it. Maybe my drs is strangely thorough? Was ok anyway, nothing too scary, and he said everything was normal anyway Blush
