Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
andadietcoke · 25/01/2013 09:46

Ooh kim let me know how accommodating they are. I might try and book one for Wednesday as I'm off all day as I've got my booking in appointment.

Felt so ill in the car this morning, but have just forced grapefruit down and feel a bit better. So far I've only been sick in the evenings which is better from a work point of view, so can hopefully keep that up. Back's really achey though - does anyone else have this? Dr Google says it's normal, but it's still freaking me out.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 25/01/2013 09:54

Can't drink OJ, and don't drink coffee! I'm going for a huge bunch of grapes!
Today's misery is being out on a market stall. The cold is playing havoc with my breasts, they feel like they're going to fall off! Confused

badguider · 25/01/2013 10:59

andadietcoke - what stage are you at? My pelvis did something really odd about 5-6weeks, i got lots of stretching ligament pains around my hip bones and pelvic bone at the front and a sore lower back, but it all seems to have settled down now into a new position (7+2).

andadietcoke · 25/01/2013 11:18

badguider somewhere between 7 and 7+4. Moving around can normally relieve it, and it doesn't feel crampy, so I'm hoping it's just stretching. I've not had stomach cramps at all (which I had with my mc) and nothing apart from the occasional very pale brown discharge, which again Dr Google says not to worry about.

Going to get through to Wednesday and the booking in, and see what the mw says.

Eeeknumber3 · 25/01/2013 11:30

oooof just demolished an enormous cheese and morrisons cheese coleslaw sandwich, just cannot get enough of the cheese!! Lovingly layered salt and vinegar crisps on it too...mmmm. Earned it though, as have spent an hour clearing the drive in minus 2 degrees to get car out to take DD to docs as she has croup I think! Has anyone ever had a child with slapped cheek? Am worrying she may have that, as she has very red cheeks...according to NHS site, it's dangerous to pregnant women, if they've never had it. Don't know if I've had it or not?!
Lunch is getting earlier and earlier, I am desperate not to be massive, but does not look good. This baby is never going to be small as DS1 was 9lb and DD1 was 8lb 5oz...other mums with kids, how big were your others?xx

Eeeknumber3 · 25/01/2013 11:32

JM, I think you're ok, as long as you keep on top of your temp. Like you said, paracetamol are fine all the way through pg. I had horrific gastroenteritis with DS1 at about 20 weeks and was so worried, but all was well x get well soon

jm233 · 25/01/2013 12:00

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm sure ill be fine, but will go to GP if it gets worse.

Thanks zombies, I'm 8 weeks tomorrow! I'm trying not to think about the scan too much but every time I remember its today I have my heart in my mouth!

I just did my Tesco shop online and it took me about an hour and a half, cause most things I intended up get made me feel sick at just the thought. Instead I ended up with more taramasalata and other great things like marshmallow rice crispy squares! YY to milk being yucky all of the sudden! I have a milky tea every morning with DH but I think today may well have been the last one of those...

Creamtea1 · 25/01/2013 12:46

Got my scan appt thru, 25th feb :)
Why oh why are evil carbs the only thing that keeps the sick feeling at bay! So far today have had brioche, toast and a white roll - will be massive but also know that eating the evil carbs only makes the sick feeling worse in another hour or so because of the blood sugar spikes :(
But there is no way I could face anything protein based...

andadietcoke · 25/01/2013 12:52

Today I've discovered Hovis breakfast biscuits. They're brilliant, and are individually wrapped, so think they'll be a handbag staple for a while. I've also had two bananas and a grapefruit and a pack of wotsits. Hmmm.

The only time I ever actually want to eat anything is after I've been sick. Shock

jm233 · 25/01/2013 13:11

Grapefruit. Yes!

LexyMa · 25/01/2013 13:19

Colds and flu are common in first trimester because your body lowers its immunity so as not to reject the embryo. I am off work again today with my cold. Slept in the spare room last night, except that I woke at 4am needing a wee, realised I had probably been on my back absolutely motionless for 6 hours (I sleep like the dead) and as expected getting up to wee started all the mucous moving and draining so I spent the next two hours coughing and spluttering.

I have a bag of M&S fruit gums in my hand now. Thought about the Percy pigs, but went for the gums. Mine.All.Mine. :)

kimjayne · 25/01/2013 13:22

Andadietcoke - I haven't had a response on email from the scan place! So am going to call the when I get my next break. I will keep you posted! Fingers crossed! :) Would really put my mind at rest.

Food update - Just DEMOLISHED a greggs sausage roll - first time I have ever even been inside a Greggs I think! Could be my first random craving perhaps?. God it was goooood! :) haha

On another note, has anyone else got really sore gums? I figure it's just down to the amount I am being sick at the mo :( And the acids etc are probably attacking my gums (that's what I gathered from google anyway). But you can't use Bonjela in pregnancy apparently due to the Asprin content! I have been washing my mouth out a million times a day with water. But it doesnt seem to help much.

Any tips? :(

Wincher · 25/01/2013 13:51

Try Corsodyl mouthwash, kimjayne - it's good for sore/infected/bleeding gums. It does make everything else taste horrible for hours after though!

I don't fancy any foods at the moment - I don't feel hungry for ages but then it suddenly hits and I have to try to find something I can eat sharpish. Then I belch repeatedly for hours with the flavours coming back again and again! Yuck!

kimjayne · 25/01/2013 14:08

oh thanks Wincher. I got similar advice from the pharmacist in Boots as it happens! Just popped in there quickly and she said same thing as you.

Has anybody else had similar gum problems? Or just me?

CrikeeThree · 25/01/2013 14:20

I'm so fed up Sad
I'm throwing up every day. Multiple times now.
At first, every morning. Then yesterday morning and evening.
Today I puked this morning for about an hour (on and off), went to work feelign grim, had some toast mid-morning, and later some soup, puked again about half an hour ago.
But in between I'm STARVING. But can't actually face most things.

Right now I'm eating ready salted hula hoops as I reeeeeally fancied them. But I'm sure that's the "wrong" thing to eat if I'm puking all the time.

But then I just feel like... if I'm going to puke anyway (which apparently I am) then I might as well eat what I want in between Blush

Feeling so sorry for myself. Sad Any tips?? I wasn't sick like this with DS1 and DS2!!

kimjayne · 25/01/2013 14:30

CrikeeThree - I am so glad it's not just me. I was literally sick in the shower this morning. There was no time to aim for the loo even. It just comes in waves throughout the day.

The only time I don't feel sick is when I am asleep and even that's not entirely true as I wake up at 6am on the dot every morning to puke .. although at that time of day there's nothing inside me to bring up so it's just that horrid wretching feeling that pulls at your stomach.

This is my first time so I had no idea what to expect. I really didn't see this coming though. Bit naive of me really.

My only tip is to nibble on things through the day, try not to eat any large meals as these just make you sick. I find keeping a bag of grapes on my desk helps. Today I have some carrot sticks and plums too. Avoid being full or starving! That's my top tip. xxx good luck.

CrikeeThree · 25/01/2013 14:38

thanks kimjayne
I'm sorry you're going through it, too, but it somehow feels better to know I'm not the only one...
I seem to have kept the hulahoops down!! So am keeping fingers crossed.... :)

PurplePoppySeed · 25/01/2013 15:01

Spanish - I got early scans last time as ive had gynae issues for years, had a rather large ovarian cyst burst in August, but got pregnant in September which was a surprise, they scanned me at 5 and 8 weeks as I was still having ovary pain and it needed to be checked due to known adhesions etc in the area. This time they are doing an 8 week early scan as my doc referred me to EPU for the same reasons. I'm quite lucky in that sense, but I've had 10 years of horrible gynae issues to 'earn' it Wink

CarrieJayne · 25/01/2013 15:06

My gums starting bleeding yesterday evening when i cleaned my teeth, and i have ulcers. I feel generally run down today, and just off on the Hen weekend so am sure I am going to have a grumpy, tired weekend (Saturday involves 2 rounds of laser quest, a dance class, a three course dinner and a club). I'm tired just thinking about it Sad. Feeling very sorry for myself, can you tell?!

badguider · 25/01/2013 15:10

I have so much sympathy for those of you who are actually puking Sad
I am feeling sick all day long but not actually being sick thankfully.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 25/01/2013 15:26

I WANT TO FEEL SICK! Sad Envy
It's sad I know, and I've got sore boobs, a tiny bladder, constipation, and I POAS nearly every other day, and I do have occasional sick moments, but I just won't feel pregnant until I feel bloody awful! Confused I had mild nausea the first time and bad the second, but this time it's sadly lacking!

PurplePoppySeed · 25/01/2013 15:32

For every one with gum bleeding, I'll second the recommendation for corsadyl (however you spell it) it's great - only thing is that it can stain your teeth if you drink dark drinks tea/coffee etc afterwards. The daily version is just as good and less staining.

Also I know a few ppl have mentioned dreams, is anyone else talking in their sleep? I started doing it last week, but apparently I have also been doing it for the last 3 nights constantly Grin (think I'm getting my own back for years of dealing with DHs snoring)

Dorita75 · 25/01/2013 16:13

I HAVE TO get off the bus a stop early and buy a McDonalds fillet of fish meal.

Eeeknumber3 · 25/01/2013 16:31

Catpuss, I don't really feel very sick either, but then I do just keep eating! This is DC3, I never really got much morning sickness with DS1 or DD1 either, so am not too worried. The boobalons are incredibly sore and like you the poo situation is fairly backed up, but just keep thinking I don't 'feel' very pregnant! Maybe we're just lucky, but I do know what you mean, would like to feel a tiny bit nauseous! X

fl0b0t · 25/01/2013 16:57

crikey and Kim that doesn't sound good. In with badguidee getting more sick-feeling every day, but not been sick. Spent 5 nauseous hours on the train today and I've cancelled all weekend plans that involve travelling. It's very overwhelming- if I weren't pregnant and I felt like this, I'd be very worried. Ive got lots of travelling to do next week and I'm really stressed about it. Has anyone taken time off work with ms? I'm only 5+4 and if this lasts til twelve weeks, I'm going to be a wreck.

Next week my husband is away, we've not told anyone yet and most of my friends are away. I am worried about feeling sick and lonely, especially if I have to take a sick day and stay in bed! Want to tell my sister but don't want to burden her as she's got a lot going on.... I never thought this bit would be so hard :(

I don't suppose any of you lot are in Berkshire? Could maybe meet up one night for a whinge?
