Hi all

Thinking of you 'mama' baby alexander, 'floss' and everyone else on here who is suffering.

I feel like i am some way behind most of you as only 25 weeks tomorrow. Looking for forward to midwife appoint on weds and hopefully hearing heartbeat again.

Today signed uo for Emmas diary as you get £150 worth argos vouchers of various baby things plus 3 sample packs you pick up from boots, I imagine a bit like bounty but not managed to get any of those yet as didn't get voucher from midwife.

Signed up for sainsburys club as the huggies free pack looked food in store.

Am after all the freebies I can get and will unsubscribe from all the emails later

angeltattoo · 14/01/2013 21:04

Mama yay!!! Thanks Thanks Thanks

Not much to report here, no new symptoms at all my nipples have CHANGED COLOUR oh my god

JoRich77 · 14/01/2013 21:18

Oh I will get the bold names right one of these days :)

lutrinae · 14/01/2013 21:46

angel it is weird huh? I expected them to get bigger but the colour change was a bit of a shock!

Thanks kellestar that is reassuring. birdbrain well we are in the same boat - twice! I live in London so luckily transport is good. What about you?
It's just a pain for trips like shopping, vets, picking up furniture & getting out of London. So I imagine even worse with a small one. Sadly no relatives live nearby.

Can anyone tell me if it's worth buying a baby birth? Our bathroom sink isn't big enough & the kitchen one is horrible. Are there any alternatives?

alwayshopeful13 · 14/01/2013 21:54

Hello all,

Sorry for slipping into silence again. I do pop in frequently to see what's going on but I just can't keep up with this thread (or the previous one!) enough to get involved with the day-to-day developments, so apols as usual for not name checking everyone.

mama it is so fab to hear you and Alex are doing so well. You really are amazing.....your positivity and determination (and little Alex's) are just wonderful.

floss sending you all possible good wishes for whatever exciting adventures await. Glad to hear you are being well looked after.

All well here. Feeling (and apparently also looking) well....my boss told me today that I look 10 years younger (and it wasn't because she wanted something at the time!). I do feel way better after the horrendous nausea/tiredness that continued until 19 weeks.

Only vague concern is the potential growth issue they found at 20 (22) week scan - blood flow from me to baby lower than normal. Baby was right size then so trying not to fret. But I'm just a tad sensitive about people commenting that my bump is "neat" or "you really carry it very discretely." Grrr. But babs was also right size (admittedly be slightly approximate measuring tape test) at 24 week mw appt. Have next growth scan next week so fx all ok then.

On mat leave - my gameplan is to stop at 36 weeks or maybe a bit before if scans show up any problems. My boss is being awesome - v flexible and if I'm feeling ok and want to work a bit longer that's fine too. But I'll definitely aim for at least 2 weeks nesting time before edd.

Sorry for long post. Won't give the long update on my shopping so far except to say thanks for all the tips you about offers/discounts etc...v useful. If I find anything else that may be useful I'll definitely post.

The very best to everyone for whatever the next few weeks bring. I'll try to be more diligent on the posting front from now on x

Hope all improves floss! Anyone else due 29 th??

MumofWombat · 14/01/2013 23:38

I woke up at 5.30 this morning with the most excruciating leg cramp pain. I tried being silent so I didn't wake DH up, but that lasted about 10 seconds. After stretching out my foot, he went and got me a banana. He reckons that when he cramps when playing cricket if he eats a banana it subsides really quickly. And it did! So I thought I'd pass on the tip....

Trishstar · 15/01/2013 00:04

Woohoo!! 3rd trimester now!

bunnygirl80 · 15/01/2013 02:19

Good tip mumofwombat. I've been getting terrible leg cramps every morning for the last week. The other morning I was yelping in pain and thrashing around while DH merrily stayed fast asleep.....I reckon I could be in full on labour next to him and he wouldn't even notice Hmm

Novia · 15/01/2013 09:49

I don't know about anyone else - but I'm just shattered this week! I don't know if it's the start of the third trimester, or post Christmas blues, but the thought of 9 more weeks at work makes me want to cry! Finding it so hard to get a good night's sleep which doesn't help.

Had a midwife appointment last week and I'm measuring 3 weeks too big (but no issues with BP or urine so hoping it's not diabetes). I've put on a lot of weight, so perhaps just my tummy! I have to go back again next week to be checked and then maybe have another growth scan. :(

And I'm going to kill DH if he doesn't stop referring to my maternity leave as "9 months holiday!"

On a happier note, our nursery furniture arrives Friday - so we can start getting the baby room sorted. Also ordering the moses basket today to pick up on the weekend. Planning to pack my hospital bag on Sunday!

Sending love and positive thoughts to mama and floss!

Novia - I'm with you. I am absolutely, postively shattered. I don't think I've ever been this tired in my life. I woke up briefly in the night last night (just to roll over I think) and this feeling of complete exhaustion washed over me - in BED, ASLEEP!! I also feel like crying when I consider working for another two months!

Your DH will soon realise that mat leave is not a holiday when the baby finally arrives and he realises the work involved. I once nearly killed the husband of a friend of mine who called her mat leave 'a career break'. FFS.

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 15/01/2013 11:28

Novis and Bona, I'm shattered too. Am currently lying on the sofa unable to move, when am supposed to be wfh Sad have no energy at all, but my iron levels are five. I keep getting told its because it's my second pregnancy and because I gave a toddler, he's at nursery though so not like I'm running round after him all day! Had bad insomnia for the last few weeks, git diagnosed with a uti last week so on antibiotics which are making me drowsy and lethargic. Can't win Sad really really struggling. This is more than tiredness, am getting a bit worried that something else is wrong..... Only 25 weeks plus here too, do bit longer to go than you guys.

Sigh.

Missmuffet28 · 15/01/2013 13:00

Hehe I came on to tell you guys I am sat here and my damn eyes won't stay open! I'm so tired!!! I can't wait to get iron levels checked last pregnancy I had to have supplements but still spent approx 16hrs asleep everyday towards the end so I hope it's not that again!! Thing with me is I fall asleep doing stuff I was scrolling through a page on the computer this time lol then my phone rang I woke up still scrolling!

My nursery furniture also coming at the weekend! Look forward to that! Must dash have a set of nails to infill in a minute and if I don't do something to wake up no doubt ill be asleep on her hands Grin

ratbagcatbag · 15/01/2013 13:04

Ok here you go for the FB group.

I have had to add my DH so it would let me create a group, as I don't know anyone else's real name yet, but I'll log onto his account later and reject the add :)

FB Group

It's a closed group and I've tried to not be obvious with the name, so it's MN April13ers - Over here!! Could be anything :)

I'll add if you request it. HTH

It's bloody freezing here with no heating working, gas fire is doing overtime, but the house is like an ice box.
My lovely boss has given me the day to do my promotional criteria so I can get a big payrise before I go on maternity leave.

ratbagcatbag · 15/01/2013 13:05

29+3 eeeek

jj247 · 15/01/2013 13:12

JH couldn't help but laugh when you related how DS spilt the beans on your behalf, but really pleased to know your Mum responded in the best possible way, what a wonderful relief for you and hopefully more confirmation that you have made the right decision.

Has anyone else started antenatal/NCT classes yet? They don't run them very often where we are, so we started last week as the next set of classes ran until 20th April and with EDD 22nd I thought that was cutting it a bit fine. If first class is to go by I'm really pleased we decided to go, the girl running the class is really relaxed and friendly, plus open to change what she takes us through to tailor the classes to our wants/needs and the other three couples seem really nice, relaxed and friendly. only downside for me is that they are all due the first 2 weeks in March so will be potentially "dropping" long before I do, whcih makes me feel a bit of an outsider. I guess if they are late and we're early it won't be that far apart and as DP says, at least we can learn from what they go through! the biggest thing I got out of class 1 is the importance of relaxing and keeping mobile during labour (all to do with adrenaline, oxtocin and endorphin levels keeping the labour on track and less painful) oh and not to lie on your back as there is less room for bean to get out as your tailbone tips into the way... all easier said than done no doubt, but think I may start listening to my hypnobirthing CD soon :)

I'm also v envious of all you guys getting your nurseries sorted. We are squeezing little bean in our box room which also houses my wardrobe and drawers as there is no room for them in our bedroom. At the moment it is also crammed with all my craft/dressmaking stuff too, so I started the mammoth task of sorting through it all at the weekend, (freecycle is doing very well out of me at the moment!) in an attempt to make some room for a cot and an armchair, my sewing table is already going to be the changing table! a friend is kindly donating a cot, but that won't be available until after Easter, so i feel a bit woefully under-prepared and like poor little bean is going to be squeezed into a tiny space... hopefully love will make up for sq ft! :)

jj247 · 15/01/2013 13:14

ooh ratbag, excitement, I've just asked to join :)

ratbagcatbag · 15/01/2013 13:20

You're in JJ - now I will stop MNetting and carry on with boarding - it's really stupid, I really am not motivated to do it, but they are pushing me, and it's one pack of info plus appendices and one presentation, for a massive payrise!!
C'mon motivation where are you?!?!

JaquelineHyde · 15/01/2013 13:32

Hey ho everyone Smile

It is official, I have signed on the dotted line and my maternity leave has now officially begun!!! Grin

I have 2 essays due on Thursday that I just need to pop a mitigating circs form in for and then I can submit them both over the summer. Everything else is now on hold until January 2014!!!!!!!

I'm a little bit shocked it's all done to be honest with you.

Like the rest of you I am knackered at the moment, no matter how much I rest it just doesn't cut it.

Request sent to join the FB group. Yay.

ratbagcatbag · 15/01/2013 14:39

Got an emergency appointment at 4, baby hasn't been moving since 6am this morning and I've rang hospital and they've booked me in. fingers crossed it's just sleepy as its cold in here.
