Silver15 · 26/01/2013 15:06

Hello ladies,

Hooray for the good scans and welcome to the newbies.

My scan and NT were good.

I have finally been booked in a hospital I want. I was first referred to 2 hospitals and I was not happy with either of them. The first was too dirty it put me off and the second has been in the news a number of times and Is under special measures for poor maternity care. A work colleague had her baby there and it was delivered in the corridor purely due to staff negligence.

I'm already showing so had to tell work. It's 14 weeks today but still struggling with ms.
Can someone please add me on the stats as I'm on the phone. Dc3. 27.07.13. Thanks

chocolatesolveseverything · 26/01/2013 15:26

Updated the stats thread with silver, duende and Mrsd77's dates as requested.

Would that be Stafford Silver? I read something about their mortality rate being super high.

You ladies that found out sex for second DC are really tempting me to find out this time! DP is happy to find out, even if it does mean I possibly spend the summer shopping!
I will admit when I had DD the student mw with us (seriously busy understaffed hospital) said 'well there's no doubting what you've got there!' In my drug induced haze/sans contact lenses I couldn't actually see and had to ask! Not my finest moment.

Silver15 · 26/01/2013 17:06

Thanks chocolate.

No rugbugs, its queens in Romford, London.

Sugarkane · 26/01/2013 17:20

Thank god im not at home any more, I would be saying no to giving birth at Stafford thats for sure. Im lucky that I get to go to the hospital I went to with DS2 new clean and a lovely experience.

duende · 26/01/2013 17:58

Thank you, chocolatesolves :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/01/2013 19:52

I went to a very clean shiny new hospital with DS and had a terrible experience! It was a bank holiday weekend which didn't help but also the fact that they are so completely midwife-led (tho there are doctors on the labour ward itself) j meant that the fact that my hyperemesis had returned, I wasn't keeping down fluids, I was in a huge amount of pain and the 'spurious labour' went on from 7am Saturday morning until about 1am Monday morning without anyone thinking the fact I wasn't getting any sleep or keeping fluids down might be an issue, though in a lot of hospitals they probably would have stuck me on a drip to speed things up. The fetal heart rate was dodgy and they still sent me home, I couldn't get an epidural since they only had two anethetists on to cover the whole hospital, lost a pint of blood, ended up catheterised, episiotomy, bad post-delivery uterine infection, just a flipping nightmare really!

So I'm going to a slightly less shiny and new hospital this time round which is a bit handier to work/childminder for me, has an excellent neo natal unit (just in case) and although i'm still midwife-led i'm with a service that means you only see the same two midwives throughout your whole pg and delivery too and there's also a lot more dr involvement with trickier cases which is kind of reassuring.

So while shiny and new is obviously an attraction, unfortunately it's not a total guarantee of a good delivery experience - best thing you can do is talk to other mums who have delivered in the hospital you're going to and get their opinions and ask for tips if they have any, that kind of thing...

Ah 28 weeks to go!!

Mayanbob · 26/01/2013 22:08

Hi everyone, haven't been around for a bit. It's so good to hear about everyone's scans! Fabulous news. Still waiting for my scan letter... but community midwife seems excellent.

After having a week of complete tiredness, felt awake and well yesterday. Too well. Which of course then led me to think that there was something wrong and terrified me. Made me realise that I'm attached to this little bean already- didn't realise how much.

I hope that everything is fine. Couldn't sleep last night with worry (at least i feel more tired now)

Has anyone else had days of 'wellness' or is it just me?

LouiseD29 · 27/01/2013 07:54

Hi MayanBob, I've had the same. My symptoms (some of them) just come and go and can be different very day. I've had days when I'm just exhausted and can barely move and the next day I'll be buzzing with energy. I'm just trying to roll with it. The only consistent symptom for me so far is the hunger!

Scan on Friday. CANNOT WAIT!!!!! Hope you get yours soon.

sussexsongbird · 27/01/2013 08:00

Hello, can I join the party? I haven't had a chance to read though all the posts yet sorry but just posting my details here I gather there is some sort of stats list?
Sussexsongbird DC2 EDD 26th August, first scan 8th February

If the smallest pickle is anything like his brother though perhaps I should be joining September so not sure if I'm in the right place!

Locketjuice · 27/01/2013 09:43

FoofFighter · 27/01/2013 10:28

hello all, just a quick post as on tablet and hate typing on it! we got down safely for the wedding, was a fantastic day :-) we have a private scan at 3 this afternoon, fingers crossed all is still cooking nicely.
mayanbob, the placenta will be taking over fully, hence feeling better Wink Wink Wink

Beckett3 · 27/01/2013 10:42

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join in at this stage. I wanted to wait until I'd had my 12w scan due to a few mcs.

My nausea seems to be getting worse, can just about manage to force down most of a sandwich every day but that's it.

I have 3 children already and my husbands just left us, so now I'm going it alone and while that seems a bit scary and I may have a few wobbles, I know I can do it. If anyone wants to read my full and pathetic story I have a thread about it all on here.

parttimer79 · 27/01/2013 11:51

Just a quick post to see if anyone else is really worried about their scan. I have no reason to suggest that this is anything other than a normal healthy pregnancy but with scan date looming on Tuesday I am waking in the night racked with fear that I will have a MMC.
Am I just going insane?

parttimer79 · 27/01/2013 11:52

Just read back Mayanbob I am feeling loads better, thus worrying loads more...

Silver15 · 27/01/2013 12:00

duende · 27/01/2013 13:17

beckett sorry to hear your news. I'm sure you'll find lots of support on here. Would you like to link to your other thread?

parttimer, I think most of us had this worry! I certainly did, and all was fine.. You will be fine :)
