Hello all..,
Let's clog up a brand spanking new club over here Smile

(By hello all, I guess I mean hello hazle. Hopefully the others will join us soon...)

ps how long did it all take? I'm already worrying a bit about how long I will be lying there before being told if all is OK or not....

Awesome news Rache so pleased for you Grin And that she's still a girl too Wink

Nice that they talked through it, too - I agree that silence isn't always golden! Glad the trainee was nice - at my 12-week scan the sonographer did all the important bits then let the trainee have a 'play' (with my permission, although I didn't have a clue what was being asked until she jumped up and started). The thing was, playtime was a bit rough, nay very rough! Came away feeling most battered and bruised.

Read somewhere today that this is another 'full bladder' routine. Eurgh. Hoping that as I had to empty my bladder last time - it was too full and baby couldn't move to change position - I'll get the same let off next time. Pressing hard on a full bladder is just evil IMO.

Fingers crossed re the breech - does that mean you'll have extra scans as time goes on?

When's your 20week scan Janey? Mine's on March 5. Who's next?

Rache1S · 11/02/2013 15:15

Thanks Janey, yes DH and I were both nightmares breech at term. The lady in the scan (not the Sonographer, the one inputting the info,) was saying she had a breech but her Consultant manually manipulated and turned it from the outside 2 weeks before she delivered, which apparently is safe as long as the cord isn't around the neck.

It took about 35 mins but I think mine was longer because she was training a student. She was telling us various organs were ok all the way through as she looked at them so we didn't have to wait for a big reveal at the end, thank goodness!

Rache1S · 11/02/2013 15:21

Oops, cross posts Brave!

My bladder was also burstingly full at the 12 week scan and it did get quite painful at times. I had completely forgotten about it this time and just went without a full bladder. Nothing was said and they seemed to get all the measurements no problem.

I think there are only extra scans for breech if they decide to have a go at turning to check the position of the cord.

I think Purple's scan is this week sometime?

BraveLilBear · 11/02/2013 15:31

Good news allround Smile I honestly don't think I coudl manage a repeat of my full bottle of Oasis in half an hour feat of last time - that combined with nerves was more than I could take! Was soooo happy when she said, hmmm, go for a wee and that might help wake it up!

Fingers crossed she'll turn for you. I think there was a thread on here somewhere about the dangers of manual turning, so would be good to have one less thing to worry about!

Definitely think it'll be worth lobbying for a running commentary when it's our turn. Partly to save the stress and partly because it's all so fascinating - I want to know what they're looking at Grin

janey1234 · 11/02/2013 16:36

Oh god, the full bladder torture. When I had my scan pre all the holidays (I think it was 8 weeks?) I was bursting for the loo when I got there, having drunk a full litre of water an hour before (they said half an hour before, but I was on the tube then). Then they kept us waiting half an hour. I was in AGONY!!

For the 12 week scan, at first there wasn't enough so I had to down some water and sit and wait. Then there was too much so I had to go and pee! I might just drink normally beforehand this time and see what happens.

Oh and 20 weeks scan is next Friday....

BraveLilBear · 11/02/2013 16:58

Seriously... there must be a fair number of ummm 'accidents' in those rooms. All those pg women, full bladders and pelvic floor collapses. Glad I'm not a sonographer!

Purplemonster · 11/02/2013 18:37

Glad it all went ok Rach, I'm next, mine is tomorrow afternoon. I don't think I'm going to bother with the drinking water as my appt was 20 mins late last time and I was pretty desperate then the first thing the sonography said was 'oh my word, you've got an ENORMOUS bladder, you'll have to go and empty it its squishing the poor little thing!'

HazleNutt · 11/02/2013 21:21

Excellent news Rach! My scan is on 19th and I'm absolutely terrified, of course.

Rache1S · 11/02/2013 21:55

Thanks Hazle, I'm so relieved!

Another friend has announced she is 12 weeks pregnant today, due in August, so that's 3 friends, my Sister and me all due this Spring/Summer. Looks like I am going to have loads of company while off on maternity to go to beer gardens baby groups with. Grin

Good luck for your scan tomorrow Purple.

janey1234 · 12/02/2013 08:49

It's so nice when you have RL friends and family pregnant isn't it? I only have two - one of my best friends and a cousin - but can't wait for us to be off work together!

purple - good luck, hope all goes well today.

BraveLilBear · 12/02/2013 09:50

Good luck Purple sending positive good commentary vibes your way - and are you 'finding out'? Can't remember!

Another of my friends also announced they're 12 weeks pg yesterday - due September. So there's now three of us who worked at the same place at the same time (now live all over the world) who are due within 6 weeks - the other one, with twins, is about two weeks ahead.

So far I have one actual RL nearby friend who's 4 weeks ahead. We've already started plotting our walks round the park Grin

Rache1S · 12/02/2013 10:27

Brave YY to sprints walks in the park with the pram to shift the pregnancy lard which seems to be piling on at a rate of knots now.

I was brave enough to get on the scales this morning and have put on 9/10 lbs, which is within my 'expected' range, but yesterday's scan says I have a baby which currently weighs 363g (0.8 lb) so it it quite hard to get my head around the extra. I know it's all stuff the baby needs but I just don't enjoy looking at it wobbling on my thighs!

I found this site which allows you to input your measurements from the anomaly scan and it tells you what percentile that is. My scan results printout from yesterday doesn't do this, it just shows you they are within the range considered to be normal but this is not good enough for me as I am super curious!

janey1234 · 12/02/2013 11:05

I weighed myself this morning rache and have put on the same as you (but am only just 19 weeks today, oops) and thought that was waaaay too much, so am relieved I'm not alone. I'm hoping that lots of it is placenta, extra blood in my system, amniotic fluid etc and not just my legs getting fatter for the first time in my life

OP posts:
BraveLilBear · 12/02/2013 11:24

I was having a total meltdown yesterday about weight and fat and stuff and started a thread over on pregnancy here Seems that lots of people are in the same boat, which strangely makes me feel much much better. Evidently many people who get fatter when pg lose it all pretty easily after the fact.

My pregnancy app says current normal weight gain for week 17 is 2-4kg which is up to 9lb for 17 weeks so 9-10 lb for 19/20 is hardly huge!

And this is a breakdown of where all the extra weight goes - much more than just bump and placenta and water! www.babycentre.co.uk/a554810/weight-gain-in-pregnancy

So I'm now trying to be much more grown up about it all and stop freaking out. Tho can't say it's working just yet Confused

Rache1S · 12/02/2013 11:41

I have added a photo I took on Friday to send to a friend at 20+2. It's a slightly different angle but there isn't much difference from 18 weeks, so where the hell is it all going as it blatantly is not on/in my belly?! The only difference from 18 weeks is it feels much harder to touch.

I really can't wait to get past this looking fat but not pregnant phase!

Purplemonster · 12/02/2013 12:03

Oh my god Rach, you're still so skinny! Oh gawd, I'm actually MASSIVE, I just assumed my bump was normal and actually I must be a WHALE if you look like that!
I'm not going anywhere near the scales, nononononononono.

BraveLilBear · 12/02/2013 12:11

Wow Rache you do look fabulous - there even appears to be muscle tone in the 20+2 one!

My OH is talking about taking bump pics. Yesterday I would have refused but today I'm less bloated... now I just have to get to home time without becoming bloated Wink

What time's your scan purple?

HazleNutt · 12/02/2013 12:27

Rach go eat some pies Envy

I have seemingly overnight gone from chunky to a proper bump, no doubt about being pregnant any more, it's definitely there. Happened just this week, so something to look forward to, Rach!

Purplemonster · 12/02/2013 12:28

It's at 2.50 Bear (although last time they were running 20 mins late), don't worry, I'll be back asap to tell you all how it went!
I honestly look massively pregnant compared to Rach, funny how very different everyone is isn't it? Although I think it may have something to do with Rach's superior tummy muscles! I didn't really think I'd put much fat on apart from bump but my darling OH reliably informs me: 'Nah, your arse has DEFINITELY got bigger'. Charming. At least I can't see that bit to worry about it Wink
I've got so much work to do but I'm rather distracted by the impending poking and prodding session so that's why I'm here instead of getting through my mountain of work! I just can't concentrate.

janey1234 · 12/02/2013 13:16

Rache - can you please stop posting pics, making me jealous Wink

I am a week behind you but DEF showing more than you. In the last few days it seems to have suddenly popped out a bit, into a bump rather than just flab if you see what I mean. In fact, my stomach is the WORST bit of me normally, and if I bend over I get a crease between my top belly and my bottom belly, if you see what I mean. I now, suddenly, no longer get this -it's just one big bump. DP agrees, and has gone from saying "urm, yeah" when I ask if he can see the bump to commenting, unprompted, that I look preggers.

So yes, I look massively pregnant vs you rache. I guess we are indeed all different, so should just stop worrying...

OP posts:
BraveLilBear · 12/02/2013 13:18

Lol at your distractions Purple - my scan's in the morning but both me and OH have booked the whole day off to chill afterwards. I had the afternoon to myself after my 12 week scan and knew it was the right thing as I genuinely couldn't think straight.

I think my darling OH is trying to be tactful as he knows I'm very sensitive about looking like a flump, but last night (in hindsight, was rather bloated all day) he was like 'what are you talking about, you have got a bump - it's right there'. His other favourite is 'well you are looking a lot more ummmm errr pregnanct these days'!

Or when I was wearing a long sleeved t-shirt (I have many of these, all of which now have their days severely numbered) I asked him 'am I too fat for this t-shirt?' and he just said 'not yet'.

In better news, this doesn't appear to be inhibiting his desires just yet. Can report a distinct and rather exhilerating upturn in bedroom antics. Yanno. Just saying Wink

Rache1S · 12/02/2013 13:20

You are all very lovely and flattering but I can't fasten my jeans so I demand a proper bump and I demand one now!

Aqua-natal is almost embarrassing next to all the other ladies' impressive bumps, including my friend who is 12 days ahead of me and has a really lovely obvious baby bump. Envy

When I got pregnant and I anticipated all the things I would worry about I really didn't think lack of bump would be one of them!

Purplemonster · 12/02/2013 13:39

You can have some of mine if you like Rach, I've got plenty of bump to spare (need a heifer or whale emoticon).
Envy at Bear's bedroom antics, my OH has been 'tired' for FAR too long, I'm not impressed. May resort to crying to get my own wicked way!

janey1234 · 12/02/2013 13:55

I'm with you purple. So basically overcome with jealousy over rache's body and bear's bedroom fun. Waaah, poor fatty unattractive me Wink
