Very proud that I made it til 1.45 am today, in fact I only went to bed then because DH had to be up early for work this morning.
Had a bit of traumatic morning when I realised I hadn't felt baby move for 24 hours, cue a trip to hospital for monitoring. Midwife managed to find a strong heartbeat straight away but it took glasses of water, lying on one side... and then the other, a hot chocolate and almost an hour to get baby moving again - quite a stressful start to 2013 Will be glad when he/she is here now!

Well I have to say that the disappointment of 3 pregnant women seeing their dinner is 4 small triangular sandwiches was quite funny. We talked the guy who brought us a cup of tea into finding us biscuits as the hospital shop is closed today!! Hubby better remember the Percy Pigs...

bealos I'm in islington near Caledonian rd & barnsbury station. Don't know anyone else having babies near here and thinking we should have forked out for NCT.

happyhow I hope you get better nourished soon! Sandwiches for dinner is not really acceptable is it.

I am now hoping the baby stays put for a while. I'm not overly uncomfortable as my bump is small and I would like to enjoy a few weeks not working and spending time with DD and getting ready for the baby.

Bunny222, sorry just saw your post asking why I was being induced or c section early, at 38 weeks...I'm type 1 diabetic and those are the guidelines my hospital offer.

Quick post ivy arrived at speed 2.40 this am. In total shock. 5lb11 37 weeks exactly. Will post properly when less shocked!

Our gorgeous little boy Henry John was born at 0730 this morning. He weighs 5lb so is tiny but absolutely perfect. Scans were actually right in predicting a small baby. I had waters broken when 1 cm as baby's heart rate was dropping and with aid of syntocin went from 1 cm to 10 cm in 5 hours. Did first few on Tens machine and gas and air then contractions became too painful and had epidural. Spent a most wonderful day in total awe of son. Hope to be discharged tomorrow. Happy new year everyone and totally agree you girls are amazing and couldn't have got through last 9 months without you. Loads of luck to rest of January babies.

DH took a pic earlier of my big belly and cant believe how much its grown since xmas eve. Cant be just the xmas food! Am not loving the symptoms now, SPD is sore, getting a lot of cramps v low down, today calves and feet have swollen and got tht horrible sicky bile thing in my throat. Have most of you got this too?
Am planning on seeing midwife tomorrow if I can, bump measured 6lbs3oz at my last scan on 10th dec, goodness knows what size he is now....!

I've got acid heartburn with a vengeance again, tightness in lower belly and sore calves and lower back, hips area if i walk more than 15 mins with my dogs. No swelling really but think my hands and feet are a tiny bit swollen, guess its to be expected. Am convinced my bump has dropped and am sure baby is lower down as constantly needing the loo again and sometimes I think baby kicks or pushes me low down which can be pretty sore, god knows how I'll cope on labour if I find that sore, ha ha! Desperate for my appointment this week so I can find out what is happening and if I can expect to be induced or c section next week, oh yikes....I really am going to have a baby....please can we all still post after we've had our babies so we can help each other and indulge in group therapy :)

37+5 today and although its DC2, I'm 4 wks further along than last time, uncharted territory and still no preeclampsia, hooray.

Have been getting nausea and discomfort the last few days, along with the occasional sharp pains low down, starting to contemplate all those birth promoting activities.

The woman next to me is snoring really loudly and I have such a headache from lack of sleep the last two nights. Asking hubby to bring me earplugs. I can't cope with this for a week and have labour on top of it...

Congratulations complicated and apples! Hope you and your babies are all doing well. Apples hope you recover from the shock soon.

Happy hope you managed to go back to sleep, hopefully the ear plugs will help. Do you have to stay in for a week then?

When's your appointment newbie?

We're due-date buddies djvesi! And I'm with you on the labour promoting activities. Went for a long walk yesterday and had some pretty strong BH (I think) afterwards. Going to try for a long-ish walk every day from now on.

According to the consultant I saw on Monday, I'm not getting home without a baby! She said I won't be going past my due date so if I don't go naturally, I'll be induced next Monday to reduce any risk. Depends what they say now that I've actually been admitted though but haven't seen anyone yet and might be tomorrow before I know anything as it's a public holiday up here.

Wow more babies! Congrats! I'm 39w today and continue with sodding insomnia! Awake from 3-7 last night. Am walking lots, having plenty of sex and even had a curry! So far nothing.

hey octane having gone 42+ weeks with ds1, I tried nearly everything to get things moving and found nothing worked! However, not to say it won't for you.

I only thing I didn't try (which I wish I had - was from a fear of needles, which I managed to get rid of from being pricked so many times in labour! Ha.) was acupunture. Supposed to be very good in getting labour started. Let me know if you give it a go!

Has anyone else had acupuncture before?

Bealos I'm an acupuncturist and have done induction treatments on a couple of my patients who have gone post-dates and seems to have worked for them! I am planning to see my practitioner for a kick-start if things don't happen naturally. For anyone considering acupuncture to get things going make sure you go to someone who has experience of treating pregnant women.

Hi all congratulations to everyone whose babies have arrived.

bealos if its any consolation i went over wih the other 3 and never imagined ivy woukd actually arrive early.

In the end after feeling funny all day i started to bleed. After mad dash to hosp found to b 3 cm and due to bleed dr said to break waters and put up drip as emergency. After waters gone no need for drip as no break between contractions.

Dr thought epidural might slow things down as onky 5 cm and climbing the walls they were so intense. Never got epidural as 10 mins later the shocked and unprepared mw was yelling dont push as ivy shot out!

Still had heartburn and in such shock spent a few hours shaking and throwing up acid. We had to stay on ward alk day as she is tiny and her temp kept dropping but came home last night. The others met her when they woke up and seem besotted esp dd who reakky wanted a sister!

Alright Tugs, I'll be your daily virtual walk buddy too! Just went to the playground with DS, but it was only a couple of blocks away although high resistance in slushy melting snow

Since the 15th it seems DH, DS and I have been tag teaming, starting with awful flu, and since the 25th, a vomiting virus. Poor DH has finally succumbed today. Ahh the joys of a lovely christmas holiday at home. Might have to skip that gym ball, curry and pineapple until he's functional again
