No baby here Hmm I started having regular tightening after I posted for another hour or so, eventually decided to ring the labor ward and they suddenly just stopped completely? What a tease! I think I lost a bit of my plug though so hopefully won't be too much longer.

spotty hope Felix is ok today

Well all tailed off at 6ish and I fell asleep until 7:30 so just dropped all 4 ds' off at school and home again for a coffee!
Supposed to be taking dm to pick some jumpers for Xmas so I think I'll do that then come home to sleep before the afternoon school run Smile

Welcome spoony. My DS1 was due 8th December but showed up at 33 weeks back in October. Luckily the lovely December ladies didn't banish us :)

ellliebelle · 03/12/2012 09:59

weejo thanks for the birth story i enjoyed reading it. You baby girl has a beautiful name :)

Welcome spoony im also due 24th but this will be dc 3 for me.

Good luck ispyim sure you will be fine. Dh and i have have already discussed that if baby comes early he may still wait till over xmas and new year to take his paternity as would be lovely to have 2 weeks together at christmas.

Well last night i had a few pains/tightenings/bh before going to sleep about midnight then had a few wake me up between falli g asleep and 4am at which point i got up as couldnt sleep anymore and was a bit more painful. Had pains every 8mins or so between 4 and 8 some were quite painful and some were just a hard bump all stopped at 8 when i was busy with dd's and having breakfast managed the school run and popped to the shop for some bits for lunch no pains but a very tender bottom of bump, waist and hips :(

Just back and relaxing watching tv with dd2 and had another couple of pains now. Would love baby to come today :) dont think its likely though

Having a wobble about whether Dash is warm enough thanks to evil MIL after starting off with cardi and hat in the house after coming out of scbu we're now just in a vest and sleepsuit in the house then blanket if in Moses basket and making use of my body heat when snuggling. But mil started piling blankets on him in the house and whrn she was cuddling him saying he looked cold. I'm paranoid about not overheating him but don't want him cold either.

Similarly when we're out and about we normally just add snowsuit and hat as worried a cardi too will be too warm (snowsuit v.warm) am I doing it all wrong? God forbid MIL is right.

Equimum · 03/12/2012 10:50

Lovely birth story wejo and what a fabulous name choice.

Saturday was certainly a busy day for babies....my friend in RL also gave birth, a week early.

Welcome Spoony. I'm also due 24th with my first, but don't know the flavour.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/12/2012 11:12

Honey when your mil had babies they didn't have central heating or electricity so needed extra blankets!

itsMYNutella · 03/12/2012 11:14

Honey I think it's really important to trust yourself, can understand that's hard when your apparently evil MIL undermines your confidence. MW has told me to feel baby's neck and that's a better temperature gauge than hands/feet/face... Bt probably one of the none first timers will be along in a mo to help you out with better advice! :o

Clarella · 03/12/2012 11:25

Honey that is something I would worry about in exactly the same situation but you've definitely been doing it all fine till she came so just carry on - and what spotty said too. Will .mw or hv be back? Look at that website again to reassure yourself and also 'looking cold' is not how we measure temperature - the hv said touch is one of the easiest ways to tell including if they're poorly, plus I'm sure I read cool hands are ok. Don't let her get to you!

Well I watched 2 catchup episodes of peep show with nutella on toast and some inane desperate ny hws and now just feel like a slob! Think I'll wash that floor that s been over due to eradicate last memories of builders then actually cobble together some sort of print for xmas cards which will be nice this afternoon. Finding it a bit hard to have a really enjoyable day as missing dh and just a tad bored. (Which I know will be totally the opposite this time next week!!!!) Grass is greener eh?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 03/12/2012 11:45

Honey they say baby should have 1 more layer than you. So inside if you have t-shirt they should have vest and sleep suit/t-shirt, if you have t-shirt and jumper then baby should have vest, sleep suit and cardi. If you are out and have t-shirt and coat then baby should have best sleep suit and snowsuit. Etc.

Ignore your mil, she doesn't sound the best tbh.

Well on the subject of mil's mines being very dim and annoying DH atm. We were told to call the diabetic midwife today to discuss my levels since changing my medication last week. DH told mil yest he was going to work from home just in case they needed me to go in for any reason (still getting some high levels, with no real reasoning behind them). So he said if she fancied picking up some fresh bread we could have lunch round here. She just rang in a strop as DH hadn't phoned her to let her know what's going on Hmm. Nothing is going on. I left a message and am waiting for them to call me back. She then said we could go there for lunch, which obviously we can't do as DH is still working albeit from home. Then got stroppy and told DH he must phone her the minute we know anything! Urgh, just exasperating!

And then there's my mum who calls about once a week and says 'I take it you're still pregnant then?' knowing full well I'd phone her if anything was happening Grin.

SpoonyFuckersWife · 03/12/2012 11:47

Thank you for the lovely welcome :)

honey a good rule of thumb is they are meant to have one more layer than us, so sounds like you had it fine. Feel his belly or back of neck and if warm, he's fine! Definitely worse to overheat. Love the name, is it short for anything? As I once knew a boy called Dashraht who was English/Indian

I'm full term today! Nice to see some other Christmas Eve babies!

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 03/12/2012 11:50

Congratulations WeeJo! So good to hear all the stories of (relatively) straightforward labour, I've come across far too many stories of complications recently. Though it almost sounded like you're going to post a photo of Claudia's filled nappy!

I had more regular tightenings last night (though they didn't stop me sleeping, only woke 3 times, for once!) but again they have stopped this morning. Wondering if my body is getting ready or just having a laugh at my expense! Can't really complain though as I haven't actually reached the due date yet.

Clarella · 03/12/2012 11:53

Congrats spoony!

Good to know about that layer thing. And you totally have it sussed honey

Mils really don't need to strop at a time like this. Note to self in 35 years.

Fucking baby centre just told me my baby is a week old Xmas Angry

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 03/12/2012 11:55

Thanks all. :) I thought all that but silly mil totally undermines confidence.

spoony thanks :) Dash is short for Dashiell.

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 03/12/2012 11:58

Oh clarella. Despite the fact that bounty are sending me emails about my 5 week old, they are also sending me ones telling me I'm 39 weeks pregnant!
