I know what you mean Manda, it is a big ask. Perhaps have a second or third choice lined up just in case?

We asked OHs brother (who immediately said yes but we've insisted he goes away and actually thinks about it!) with both my mum and OHs mum as support for him and representations from both sides of the family. It's a weight off our minds anyway! X

theTramp · 24/12/2012 17:53

Ems - if you suffer Rhinitis all the time you have my deepest sympathy, it sucks.

We're now getting set for Christmas. I'm still sneezing & coughing like no-ones business & eating up tissues. How is it possible to generate so much snot?! I've resorted to lockets and I'll have a lemsip before we head to midnight (7ish) mass, fingers crossed it stems the nasal based tide, otherwise I'll be sat there with a loo roll and a plastic bag to collect the tissues in. I'm sure with antlers small children might mistake me for Rudolph and adults for an alcoholic. :)

Have marvellous Christmas Eve's and days ladies. My best wishes to all of you, your families and your loved ones. x

TribbleWithoutaCause · 24/12/2012 21:01

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I hope we all get some sleep tonight, and that everyone has a lovely day tomorrow.

We've set out ds's presents, I can't wait for him to open them.

OodKingWenceslas · 24/12/2012 21:16

Dd3 is still up! She's got a bit of a gurgly tummy she's been a bit off today, said her wee hurt & asked for calpol ( can't normally get it in her) and has drank loads. Picked up after a huge poo but dh thought it was like a baby milky poo so might be milk related as its about now the milk swaps to colostrum.

Em2010 · 24/12/2012 23:04

ood I always wondered how the body handled production of colostrum for the new baby when tandem feeding an older child! Would be good if you had one boob for each type of milk!

Anyway just finished packing ds Christmas things. Had so much fun doing it, think I'm enjoying it more than he is!! We have snowy foot prints across our living room floor now and I've spent more time than any adult woman should trying to get reindeer style nibbles in a carrot....

Really sorry to those of you suffering this Christmas, hope everyone has a day of respite tomorrow! In the meantime, Happy Christmas Eve's to you all xx

Emus · 25/12/2012 04:45

Happy Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day. X

OodKingWenceslas · 25/12/2012 05:40

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 25/12/2012 16:54

Hello, merry Christmas all!! Just a super quick hello from our new iPad!!! Grin
Hope you've all had a great time and will catch up soon.

mandasand · 25/12/2012 22:44

Hello and hope everyone's had a fab Christmas day! DH and I spent it just by ourselves, having seen our families on the past two weekends. It was wonderful - the most relaxed Christmas I've ever had! Xmas Grin Leisurely morning in bed, presents about lunchtime, spoke to families on phone, cooked Christmas dinner and ate about 1530, then a very slow walk to the river and back. Fell asleep during Doctor Who then slept for a few hours. Now having a massive snackage session. Very nice!

River is about half a mile from our house and it took an hour there and back, which means my walking speed is now 1mph!! I definitely can't go faster than this or further as in the last 200m I kept having to stop because it just hurts. Hips themselves not at all as bad as they've been, but the bump is just enormous and just kind of hurts to walk.

Ethel, we learnt at NCT class that cuddling brand new babies can bring on labour! Something to do with the smell and the oxy-something (the feel good hormone). May be nonsense, but be careful, hehe!

Emus · 26/12/2012 11:15

Morning everyone and happy boxing day!!

I'm glad we all had a wonderful Christmas day - Manda my OH and I love having Christmas day to ourselves. We had planned to do that this year but were then invited to our friends house so did that in the end. It was great but nothing beats being at home in your own space especially when pregnant!

My Christmas day started with me blubbing - this never happens - but was for a good reason! I came downstairs to join OH who was making me scrambled eggs on toast before opening pressies and setting off to our friends house. I went into the living room to open the curtains and to fire up the tree lights when I saw the pushchair/pram that I've been banging on about to OH for ages, all done up with a rain cover and massive bow! Well that was me gone, especially as I know my OH doesn't really like it and I was starting to get my head around a different travel system as a compromise. I didn't think I could love him anymore either :-). Now we are both really excited and I want to start buying everything!

Think I've got a cold - which I guess isn't bad going since it would be my first during pregnancy. Am just hoping that it's my dodgy nose that has had me awake since 03:19 this morning. Grrr.

Emus · 26/12/2012 11:18

PS - John Lewis appear to have the best prices on Maxi-Cosi Pebble car seats and family base. We are looking at the black one which is heaps cheaper than anywhere else we've seen. We got loads of JL vouchers for Christmas so I'm keen to spend now :-).

StormyBrid · 26/12/2012 11:26

Hello, ladies! Hope everyone had an excellent time yesterday. Fairly chilled here, bacon-based breakfast at my brother's then round to Dad's for the rest of the day. Have been looking forward to his roast lamb for weeks, and it was well worth it. Managed to put away a surprising amount too, considering my abdomen is full of baby already. But totally agree with Emus there is nothing like being at home, with your own comfy chairs and the possibility of taking your top off for a proper backrub, so we ended up coming back home about seven. Will have to go round again tomorrow and help Dad work his way through the fridge full of nibbles.

Only bad part of the day: the man didn't get round to ringing his mother last week (they barely speak anyway) because we were that busy with moving. Was planning to call her Christmas Day. Decided not to after the very unpleasant email from his godmother telling him basically what a shitty son he is on Christmas Eve. Kind of put a dampener on things. Seems so weird to me too: in my family we just don't do stress at Christmas, or indeed any other time of year.

theTramp · 26/12/2012 15:04

Merry Christmas (boxing day) one and all. I'm busy lounging on the sofa. Have suffered last two days with seriously rotten cold (whole loo roll gone on sneezing in 12 hours - nnngh) but today I feel almost human. Been strange Christmas as its first where I've not been with my family but in Ireland with MrM and his family, v different traditions & ways of doing things. Nice day though and I now have a gorgeously snuggly cashmere dressing gown that I've wanted for years. Hurrah.

Next Christmas will be so very different... :)

Glad everyone's having a lovely break.

ThreeForTea · 26/12/2012 16:21

Happy Boxing day!

Can't even remember when I last came up for air, or on here, so so much catching up to do! Hope everyone's Christmas is going well, see you back when i've had a little read :)

kirsty80 · 27/12/2012 20:54

Hey!

Just checking in! I hope everyone has had a great christmas! Been thinking of you all! Not checked in for a very long time!!! I'm planning a huge post... get the tea and biscuits ready!!!

dameflamingo · 28/12/2012 12:03

Hello all and a belated merry Christmas and early happy new year from me! I haven't posted here for so long I think the thread has actually moved to a new name. You have been n my thoughts though. Lovely family Christmas here which is still going on, have a wedding tomorrow (cue panic because nothing dressy fits me any longer so its likely to be me in someone's hand me down too big/ small outfit tomorrow avoiding photos) and seeing good friends after. Feel truly blessed with the great folk in my life.

P.s anyone live near Kent with a size 8 wedding outfit I can grab en route hahahaha!

JoJoBella84 · 28/12/2012 13:30

dame a definite no to the size 8 :( however I do have a really nice range of Coast dresses ranging from 10-12. Only downside is you'd have to travel to Hull to take a look!

theTramp · 28/12/2012 15:59

Dame - have a marvellous time tomorrow

backwardpossom · 28/12/2012 17:15

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! We're in post-Christmas-where-is-all-this-stuff-going-to-go hell. Xmas Wink I'm exhausted. 30 weeks today! 9 to go...

OodKingWenceslas · 28/12/2012 17:37

I hate it when people say 'how many weeks are you?' as it reminds me it's still a long way!

Had Physio yesterday, this was the specialist who didn't do much more than the other but gave me more exercises and pointed out a few more of my problems! Apparently the very stretched marked stomach means I've less strength in my skin ( thanks dd1), the separation of my stomach muscles is much more advanced than it should be ( thanks dd2) and my pelvis is wonky( can't blame dd3 though).she also said about making staff aware of how to move me for when I have the spinal as they can do more damage. I've also lost 5cm of movement since the last measurement. Only a few left if I was having a vaginal birth.

StormyBrid · 28/12/2012 18:22

Only 9 to go, backwardpossom? Are you having an elcs, or have you just decided there's no way baby's staying in there any longer than that? 30 weeks today for me too. It's a bit scary thinking it's single figure weeks now!

Had a very productive day today - income support applied for (no more signing on, huzzah!), internet banking finally set up, and housing benefit sorted. I got my first ever comment on the size of my bump in the bank! Apparently I don't look like I'm having a baby in ten weeks. I blame the cut of my coat for this.

I also had someone touching my bump without permission the other day. I was very restrained, and politely pointed out that it's actually very rude to go groping people's stomachs without permission.

In other news, this baby will not keep still. The EastEnders theme tune woke her up last night, and she didn't stop wriggling until six o'clock in the morning. She's going to run us ragged...

backwardpossom · 28/12/2012 18:48

Stormy yes, elcs for me! I see my consultant (he's agreed to it - I saw him after DS was born and he recommended it for future deliveries and when I saw him a couple of weeks ago, he was still happy to go with that) again in just over 4 weeks and I'll get a definite date for the section then.

Grr to bump groping! No-one has dared do that to me yet!

OodKingWenceslas · 28/12/2012 19:09

Loads of c-sections on here. And people with impatient babies. Last ante natal thread was fairly straightforward birthwise, one early one & 2-3 sections IIRC.

StormyBrid · 28/12/2012 19:39

Well, mine's not being born until at least 9 weeks tomorrow, because that's when my sister's turning up and she's holding my hand while I do the screamy part. If I go into labour before then I shall be crossing my legs!
