Hi all
elly sounds like you are being well monitored which is great
LittleB best of luck for the scan today ... positive thoughts and
Milk ... HOW exciting!!!! ... cannot imagine going on dates the way I feel and look at the moment, so uber impressed that you are having such a fab time!

Im off to the consultant tomorrow for my 16 week appointment ... dreading it as no doubt he will want me to walk through last times experience ... this time (unlike with the midwife) I will have my stash of hankies at the ready ... hoping we can agree on a week for my elective ... but also want to know some stats about likelihood of pre-eclampsia happening again as realised Ive never asked

MooLL · 04/12/2012 12:54

On the subject of Wills and Kate ... how horrid for them to have to public so early and be in the public eye and feel so dreadful ... not good!

The others I do feel for are those who are currently TTC with no luck .. its bad enough when a 'celeb' falls pregnant and its in the news ... this is going to be so much worse as far as press coverage constantly ... not what you need when you are struggling to TTC yourself (as it is it always feels like everyone is pregnant except you) ...

Names ... its interesting ... both our fav boy and fav girl name have certainly been used either by Royals or the extended royal family - so wll definately make me stop and pause before using them ...but wont change what we ultimately do ...

NipHipOutey · 04/12/2012 13:07

Hi all thanks for the greetings!

Can't believe the amount of time the news are spending on Wills & Kate...poor cow, but now the whole nation will be educated on hyperemisis? Wink

What is your 16 week appointment? I don't have appointment with consultant til next week, first appointment since blood test...should that have been at 16 weeks (will be 18.5)? At least I don't have too long to go until 20 week scan after that I guess?

I assume that if I haven't heard anything on blood tests (@ 12 weeks) then no news is good news?

wilderumpus · 04/12/2012 13:19

it is awful for poor Kate. has anywhere called it HG yet, as everything I come across says 'severe' morning sickness. I want it to be known that this has a real medical name and everything! Her poor womb, must be sooooo stressed out with the eyes of the world on it. I find it worrying enough with the meagre amount of friends and family I have!

nip 16 week appt is lovely, you just chat about how you feel, ask any q's you might have, have your BP and wee checked and they will talk about your blood results too. They fill in forms for ages, you listen in to the baby on the doppler and then pootle off feeling reet special :)

good luck tomorrow moo, hope it is ok for you.

MooLL · 04/12/2012 13:21

hi Nip .. mine is because I am going to be consultant led this time due to pre-eclampsia last time which required inducement a month early and ended with a cat 1 emergency c section - oh followed by post pregnancy pre-eclampsia just for good measure ...oh and the fact I am apparently old at 42 (neither feel or act it!) .. but no idea why its at 16 weeks - just what the midwife booked for me .. think all trusts seem to do things differently .. Im at Kingston

MammaBrussels · 04/12/2012 13:46

MooLL, my friend was told that if you had PE in your first pregnancy the chances of having it in your second were between 15 and 20%. If you've had it twice the risk goes up again. I don't know how reliable that is so best check with your consultant. Good luck everyone

LittleBairn. Hope your scan went well today BrewFlowers

MooLL · 04/12/2012 14:01

Thanks Mamma ... I thought I had read somewhere it was around 15% but then last week read something about it being 40% which freaked me out ... hence I have now stopped reading and decided to ask him ... its funny at the time I didnt think anything of it (both from my DD and my perspective) .. but since reading about what can ultimately happen with it, it has TOTALLY freaked me out ... damn the internet sometimes!!!

Ellypoo · 04/12/2012 14:22

nip, if you look in the back of your notes, there should be a schedule of when your midwife appointments should roughly be. You would generally have one at around 16 weeks to discuss your bloodtest results from your booking appointment, do a urine sample to check for infection/sugars, and to try to listen for heartbeat (you can't always find it though at that stage). Next appointment after that would generally be around 24 weeks (with your anomaly scan at around 20 weeks).

Reenypip · 04/12/2012 14:30

I'm sorry if I miss anyone out. When I go to write message, I forget all the names and I can't return to see what each of you have said.

Good luck with people having scans / appointments today or in next few days.

Im disabled mum and use a wheelchair (due to multiple health problems).
I'm currently going through social services. I ideally need some extra help. My partner is gonna end up losing his job as he has had so much time off over the last few years to look after me (and little one). Plus he went from full time to part time but its still not enough.

I don't have my anomaly scan until the 27th of this month.
I'm currently 16+6.
I did feel some flutters but haven't felt any for a few days so that's worried me a little.

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 04/12/2012 16:13

reeny I have no advice to offer but hope things improve for you soon? How much time off has DP had? It'd be quite heartless of his employers to sack him because of needing to look after his disabled partner, though I don't know anything about employment law/disability discrimination. Do you get DLA?

mooLL are you on aspirin? I had PE with DS but didn't get it again when I had DD, I'm on aspirin for this pregnancy anyway as a precaution. I'm also having extra scans at 28 and 34 weeks. The 34 week should ideally be 36 apparently but they said they'll do it early as I've never made it to 36!

I got a sharp pain in my bump earlier when I lifted DS. It's been fine since with no cramps of bleeding. I'm just trying to take it easy and not worry too much.

Hope we get some good news from littlebairn soon.

Hoping for some good news from LittleB soon, fingers crossed.

Delighted for milk and the non-man promotion - great news!

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 04/12/2012 16:26

seven I get the sharp pains when I move too quickly.

Picklep · 04/12/2012 16:32

seven frustrated another here with sharp pains if I move weirdly or too quickly.

MooLL · 04/12/2012 16:53

Seven .. no im not ... annoyingly (really annoyingly) I am allergic to asprin!!!! ... of all things ... I was reading about the use of asprin on another thread and my heart sank. Last time I started on 1 high bloood pressure tablet at about week 32 and ended up on 17 tablets by post birth ... I was a human rattle from my DD!

MooLL · 04/12/2012 16:53

oh and yes I also get pains ... they do freak you out dont they - but do remember them from last time

tasmaniandevilchaser · 04/12/2012 17:14

Hi all

littleb been thinking of you, hope today went ok.

Hi to the new people!

milk I was wondering why he was a "non-man*, it's all clear now! A very old friend got pg after being with her DP about 2 mths, 5yrs later they are very happy with 2 DC. It's all worked out very well for them.

seven you're my organisational hero! Potato print labels, wow! I've done my shopping on the Internet, just waiting for it to arrive. Just wanted to explain myself re the drinking- I don't drink whilst pg, didn't want you to think I had a gin bottle attached to my lips! Though I do have a glass of vino at Christmas. Was grumbling about in laws and the Christmas I was pg with DD, obviously I'm a very sensitive soul to hold onto it all this time, or maybe just grumpy! In laws are lovely but much more interfering involved than my family, so I do have to just smile and nod sometimes.

elly so sorry to hear about your dd1, glad they are taking very good care of you.

reeny sorry to hear about your hassle with DH's work , hope that it all works out ok.

Hi to everyone I haven't name checked and hope all the scans have gone well today.

I'm back at work this week, my lovely boss suggested I go back half days til Christmas, which is manageable. Really had to get back otherwise I'd feel I'd have to re-qualify! And I've "come out" at work, though my immediate team had guessed, due to me constantly eating and saying "I'M SO HUNGRY!" all the time. The bump is getting a bit big to hide now after a month off work. Everyone has been lovely and are insisting I take it easy. Bless them all!

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 04/12/2012 17:29

Thanks for the reassurance, I never had the pains with the other 2 but I guess each pregnancy is different.

milk DHs boss got pregnant after a one night stand. They've now got 2 DCs and have been married for 5 years.

tas don't worry I didn't assume you were binge drinking every weekend!

Forgot to say, I'm 18 wks today! This is pretty momentous for me as it is the cut off in my trust for treatment at the Epau. So after a year of many visits, and many tears shed there, hopefully I will never never have to go back there. I can hardly believe I've got this far, I think I'll have a little celebration tonight :)

Picklep · 04/12/2012 17:45

tasmanian sooooo pleased for you!!! That is momentus. Hope you have a lovely evening.

LittleBairn · 04/12/2012 18:21

Hello everyone sadly today's scan revealed the baby no longer had a heartbeat. It had also stopped growing the week before my waters went so it's likely there was something wrong with the baby before the waters broke.

So I'm at home after having the oral inducement tablet and back in Thu to start the process off fully which could take a few days.

LittleBairn · 04/12/2012 18:22

For the very last time 16+0

MaybeAMayBaby · 04/12/2012 18:31

Oh gosh, Little. I am so very very sorry. Such a tough week for you. I want to say more, but don't know what to say. Just so sorry.
Thanks to you and your DH x

Picklep · 04/12/2012 18:35

littleb i'm so very very sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you. There are no words. I just hope that you and DP have got some support at this time. Thanks

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 04/12/2012 18:39

I'm so sorry littleb Thanks

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 04/12/2012 18:40

I am so sorry to hear your news LittleB. I am sending you all my good wishes for the next few days and I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible.
