Woohoo scan date 23rd at 2.30pm Grin

forgetmenots · 28/12/2012 10:56

Thanks sparkly - it was lovely, fingers crossed you get a listen too!

MrsBri, I'm 16+1, this is my first dc and I wasn't very slender before falling pregnant (size 14) and I have been dismissing quickening for about three weeks! Midwife confirmed yesterday it is baby :) have felt taps, pops and flutters. It may well be your little one! :)

DontmindifIdo · 28/12/2012 11:38

Oh, I think I've felt this one fluttering already, but not sure! With ds it seemed later do I could just be imagining it...

Anyone else sat at Christmas lunch and realised that next year we'll have a weaned baby sat at the table eating with us? (even if they only have the carrot and swede mash!)

Re maternity wear, I've been in mine for a month!! It's not too early!!

forgetmenots · 28/12/2012 11:48

Yes dontmind I was googling Christmassy purée ideas, haha! Next Christmas is going to be fantastic (even if the little ones don't have a clue what's going on!)

SunnyL · 28/12/2012 12:14

Ok I caved and bought a couple of maternity dresses online. Not in the sale as I couldn't find much I liked in the sale. Think when it comes to jeans I'll need to go to the shop and try them on. I feckin hate shopping though - especially when there are likely to be only 1 or 2 racks of things that will fit me in future. I normally make most of my own dresses but the maternity patterns are flipping hideous and circa 1985 when Princess Di was last pregnant. Maybe with Kate Middleton pregnant we may have a hope of some decent maternity wear lines coming out??

MrsBri · 28/12/2012 13:18

Ooh...forgetmenots, that has got me rather excited :-) I thought I must be insane as 'they' all seem to say it is too early, especially with a first baby.

Kind of cheers me up due to otherwise feeling terribly non-pregnant most of the time!

Don't get me started on maternity wear. Next only seem to sell online, but I really need to try it on and it is such hassle buying and returning things that don't bloody fit. Apparently loads of shops only really sell it online. Quite frustrated by it :-/

Anyone got any in-store recommendations?

DontmindifIdo · 28/12/2012 13:22

Topshop maternity is actually very good.

I have jeans from Mamas and Papas and Boden (although the Boden ones are too long, one of my jobs for next week is take them to be altered, however this is pretty standard for all trousers for me - short arse). I would suggest just ordering on line. Lot easier than trying htings on when pregnant and knackered.

forgetmenots · 28/12/2012 13:32

mrsbri - me too, have had virtually no symptoms and so I'm enjoying the beginnings of bump and the wee flutterings, reminds me all is well :)

H&m surprisingly good maternity, have to be honest and say I've been in either long jumpers and leggings or wrap dresses for a few weeks now!

arlandria666 · 28/12/2012 14:09

Good idea don'tmindifido i think i am going to go sale shopping as soon as my wages hit the bank lol ordered my pushchair last nite i know its so so early BUT it had £200 off and i really like it its getting delivered to the in laws house anyway x x pinkapples we have the same scan date eeeeek not too long away although i did ring about private scan this morning £50 for a 5 minute scan 4 pictures a cd and a sneak peek at 4d for a short while and find out what sex it is i don't think that's so bad? Just need to sweet talk hubby lol! I am not sure if i have felt flutterings or not or its my digestive system from all these Christmas goodies lol x x

DontmindifIdo · 28/12/2012 14:29

Arlandria - that's not back actually - we paid £100 for a scan at 8 weeks (I had a miscarriage in July so just really needed to know things were ok before 12 weeks), so £50 sounds reasonable. However, it's not that long until you get the next 20 week scan, personally I'd hold off now. It's hard not to find out, but you know it's going to be one or the other!!!!

forgetmenots · 28/12/2012 14:36

I'd second that arlandria - I had a ten week scan and it was £100! But there's a much bigger wait to see baby after the 20 week scan, maybe keep the cash and get a 4d scan around 30wks?

arlandria666 · 28/12/2012 14:42

You're right its not long really and to be fair i probably wouldn't believe it anyway and wait til my scan at hospital ha ha! Just don't feel very pregnant at minute that's all apart from my tummy getting bigger lol x x

forgetmenots · 28/12/2012 15:09

Haha, well I know how that feels! Good luck - I'm sure you will have a lovely 20 week scan :)

HistoryKitty · 28/12/2012 16:34

I had a Babybond scan yesterday at 17 weeks, cost £79, but was lovely, lasted for half an hour and saw baby a few times in 4d. Also saw we're having a boy. Reason we had it done is because DH couldn't get leave from work for the 12 week one and looks like he'll be working again for the 20 week one so decided it was worth the money to let him have a look at baby.

grainmum · 28/12/2012 17:57

Hi, haven't posted for a while - been avidly lurking though and lovely to hear all the news of flutterings! Getting quite impatient here...

Just walked 3.5km in flat sensible shoes to return my maternity jeans selection to Next (kept one pair) and now my hips are really hurting with certain movements. Surely it's too early for this (17 weeks)? Hoping this is not what it will be like for the next 5.5 months!

redwellybluewelly · 28/12/2012 19:01

Ok. This is freaky. Just showed DD a pic of Ruhr baby scan taken at 12weeks and she said "brother" three times. She is 28months with a severe language delay.

DH and I now have to find out at the 20week scan. 23rd Jan 9am!!!

MrsBri · 29/12/2012 11:09

Ooh...spooky, redwelly. I would also have to find out the sex if that happened! :-)

We're going to Mothercare later to look at prams later. It is a bit early, but it would be daft to not buy one at sale prices when you only have to put 10% down now. And I've a money off voucher to use by the end of Jan too, so purse strings dictate having at least a look now. Am I mad?!

pinkapples · 29/12/2012 11:30

No I don't think your mad mrsbri I keep looking at things how I have managed to stop myself is beyond belief as I just can't wait so excited especially as its an IVF baby it has been a long time coming GrinGrin

Trying to wait until after the scan then I know everything is alright as I feel positively not pregnant bar the tiredness roll on 23rd!!

MrsBri · 29/12/2012 11:40

Ahh, pinkapples...I'm all non-pregnant today too! I ordered a load of maternity wear from the Next sale and couldn't have felt less pregnant if I'd tried while doing so!

But, the fact that we almost ALL feel non-pregnant must mean that it's normal about now, eh? I'm glad I have you all to 'talk' to about it though, else I would probably go more insane than I already am!

MrsBri · 29/12/2012 11:42

Oh, my scan isn't until 5th Feb, so the sales will be over by then...just taking a leap of faith now!

Not long to wait for you now.

It's weird, isn't it? We all have successful 12 week scans, but still can't stop worrying about stuff, even though the odds are seriously stacked in our favour now. I sometimes think I need a good old slap!

MrsBri · 29/12/2012 21:13

3 in a row!

Pram deposit paid by MiL...we are getting a Silver Cross Linear Freeway which had a free car seat with it. Really easy to steer (I was sent off round the shop with it!) and has a rear facing buggy option, which I really wanted.

Also ordered the mattress for the cot bed we are being given. Going for a nice sprung, breathable one as we are saving money on not paying for the cot bed.

And finally got my maternity bras. Gone from a 34D / 36DD to a 38E. Wonder where they will end up?

I cannot tell you how amazing it feels to have no underwiring squeezing the life out of me, or just a too tight bra. Very happy indeed! :-)

And I've also ordered a load of maternity wear from Next. Thought I may as well just go for it. The jeans were on a 4-6 week lead time though, so will have to look for other options when we go to the Trafford Centre on Friday. Can't wait that long for casual trousers...my current jeans are VERY uncomfortable now :-/

SparklySanta · 29/12/2012 21:41

bri wow you're organised!! We've been to mothercare and chosen the furniture and buggy we want but we've not gone as far as actually putting a deposit down on anything yet!!

SparklySanta · 29/12/2012 21:51

Oh and my morning sickness has decided to make a reappearance!!! 15+1 and I've felt dodgy all day!!

MrsBri · 29/12/2012 21:55

Oh no, Sparkly...hope it buggers off soon.

The only reason we did it now is we got it at sale price, even though it won't be delivered until the end of May. Made sense, we thought :-)
