bella2012 · 19/10/2012 16:07

kyria sympathy on the swollen ankles-that doesn't sound fun. And I am not surprised you can not concentrate. livvy good luck with your deadline too!

londonmrs totally understand your frustration. No BH or anything here either. I can see mine taking a long time to come, so we will keep each other company.

loopy how is it all going? Hope the induction process is swift for you. Sending big hugs your way x

bella2012 · 19/10/2012 16:10

smorgs hurrah for your internet! And for your hubby stepping up and doing his duty! Hope it was some fun for you and not too painful?! In what was was it hurty? On your bump or down below? I find sex uncomfortable now, but it doesn't hurt.

I am having a lie down and it is HEAVEN! dH bringing me a lovely cup of rasberry leaf tea...worth a shot!

squidkid · 19/10/2012 17:00

yomping thinking abbout you lots, sorry having a teary day myself so nothing more helpful to say but fingers crossed for you xxx

Orenishii · 19/10/2012 17:37

Thinking of you Yomping - here's to the speedy arrival of little yomping :) Seriously, you are doing so well just to remain calm and keep your rational thoughts to the forefront of your mind. Of course you're going to need to offload all that - geeez, it becomes like a toxin building up in your body otherwise, and it needs to be let out! That's what we're here for - to take all that crap, tie it up in binbags and chuck it outside. Just like the MW's will do with all the mess after your HB :)

I just had the oddest acupunture. Needles in, attached to wires, stimulated electronically, and balls of herbs stuck on the end and set on fire. Oddness. Doctor assured me the birth will start tonight - hahahaah! Now i mostly feel a little hysterical and depressed. Waah.

MickeyTheShortOne · 19/10/2012 18:01

Oh Yomping big BIG hugs flying your way (in my head they look like the big blue fluffy things on the old cup-a-soup adverts, remember them?)
Well done you for remaining so rational and researching it all yourself- consultants like bullying people into making the "right" decision because for them it means less work, less paper, etc- trust me, i've been there. Good for you for offloading though- it always helps talking about it, don't bottle it up and stress yourself out.

Thanks for all your thoughts everyone. I had a sleep this morning to make up for the lack of it last night- i hear that sometimes your body will stop the labour process if it is too tired... then I went out and did some shopping. Bought FIL's present. Nearly passed out in sainsburys. Went and had my blood test done... then came home and slept again because I felt so rough. I just don't feel right- I don't know how to explain it but I just don't feel right.
Have been walking up and down the stairs all afternoon... (supposedly meant to wriggle the baby down into the pelvis) and it seems to be doing... something. I'm starting to get a bit fed up now- its so frustrating.

Loopy I hope the induction went well.

Livvy HOORAY for curtain poles!!! I felt exactly the same when mine went up!!

Beeblebear · 19/10/2012 18:17

Trying to decide if I should call dh home fr work today. Sweep yesterday. Mild BH off and on all night. Went for 1hr walk at the mall this morning. Now having what feels like contractions rather than BH. Shorter time span. Lasting roughly 30 seconds and about 7 or 8 min apart. Now t I'm back home and sitting just waiting to see if everything fizzles out again or not.

LoopyLa · 19/10/2012 18:44

Hey all, just a quick update as on phone & can't charge it at hospital Sad

They are waiting for 24 hrs to pass (so from 2am this morning) before they induce me. Getting tightenings & twinges since 2pm but not often & only lasting a second or two?!! Confused If I don't start naturally by early hours of tomorrow morning, they'll start the induction process. So nowt much happening really at the mo but still hoping that I'll go into full labour in the next 7 hrs or so! Think eviction vibes ladies!

Hope everyone else is ok, from posts it looks like Yomping is on the way too so sending special hugs to her Smile

And to Kyrria hope you're ok...dare I ask about the coursework?!! Wink Grin

Beeblebear · 19/10/2012 18:57

Oh and big hugs yomping!! I I'm so prouder you for sticking to your gunsam with you on the. Ow ow ow... Must distract myself with a movie,or something

Kyyria · 19/10/2012 19:02

Hi Loopy Glad you're ok although hope for things to be as natural as possible. Will be thinking of you!

I've not had any twinges since Wednesday but getting fantastically rock hard stomach every so often. Have been berating the LO for ages presuming it was him ramming his feet/bum in my ribs but this feels slightly different, kind of like a band around my ribs, so presuming it's all practice.

Coursework hasn't happened yet again - I'm not in the mindset for it. Needs to get done though! Will try and do some over the weekend.

Curry for tea tonight, possibly go for a walk tomorrow depending on how achey pelvis/fanjo of doom/swollen feet are. Don't know if I can face having to DTD! Hmm

crazypaving · 19/10/2012 19:51

Go yomping - shaking my labour pompoms for you (one handed as other occupied by velcro baby) and sending big safe homebirth eviction vibes your way. Hope you get some rest. x

londonlivvy · 19/10/2012 20:26

I am feeling like Little Miss Positive this evening, having managed an afternon nap, done all my lesson plans and all my essays. HURRAH. I need to check them all (ie do all the lesson plans to make sure they flow in a logical way) but will do that tomorrow. Also did a yoga session so feeling suitably calm and blissful. More HURRAH. Less hurrah is that I still need to find a guinea pig to teach (and video to hand in as part of my coursework) as my post-natal session was a bit of a mare due to having to hold friend's baby. I am debating asking one of the girls from my NCT class but they might think I'm wierd. Or shit at yoga. Or whatever. Crisis of confidence! Shame none of you are closer or I'd be begging you!

The curtain rails do look MARVELLOUS (thanks for the yays mickey and bella) though am thinking I should have got the other rooms done at the same time (sitting room, spare room still looking a bit bare) but I guess they are non urgent and now that we know that the handyman is efficient and actually shows up, this is all entirely possible, even post baby. I shall debate the taking up of said curtains (they are currently at a slightly odd mid length) this weekend, depending on how bored I get and how much studying DF does (and thus my need to entertain myself).

Much sympathy to all those in the "is it?" "isn't it?" camp for labour. Most frustrating. Hope the mad moxi whatever it was works orenishii and loving crazy pom poms idea, so I shall wave them at loopy, yomping, beeble mickey and anyone else in early labour (everyone except LondonMrsS, Bella and me, it seems).

Beccus · 19/10/2012 22:40

hugs, yomping, you and your midwife make a great team - nurses and ahp's often know better than the consultants...but that's my biased physio opinion :)

go beeble, hoping for a fast arrival :)

mickey, what u r going through would do my head in :(

livvy, hope your baby is not on the turn

orienshi, looking forward to hearing the outcome of your weird acupuncture :)

baby loopy, u r in the diary room and up for eviction, little one! good luck with your eviction, too kyrria :)

bella, sorry to hear of your false alarm

not much going on here..... 40+1

FjordMor · 19/10/2012 23:59

Another flying 'shit she's asleep - quick, on interweb!' moment...

Yomping & Loopy - sending 'speed beans along safely' vibes and thinking of everyone with 'am I? Aren't I' symptoms.

Kyyria - sympathy with the swelling. Sadly I had cankles and had to remove my rings from the 1st trimester. The good news is all this water disappeared about a week after birth. My MW told me to keep my feet permanently up for the cankles, despite my protestation that chance would be a fine thing!

Smorgs - no worries Smile - took it how you meant it. Bf still might not work out - LO is struggling to get enough milk (she falls asleep all the time) despite me producing enough now & is still having 50ml formula a day. Still scared she's not putting on weight. I'm hopeful as she loves being on the breast & protests at the bottle but have no idea if it'll work long term.

Must get myself onto the AN thread; I haven't made the mental adjustment somehow. Londonmrs, Kyyria - it still hasn't sunk in fully. I still look at my LO & think, fuck, I got pregnant and had a baby!! She's mine!! It still feels very unreal. The 'mothering instinct' creeps up on you though, even when, intellectually, you're quite sure you're being crap at it & not coping. This I have learned Smile.

Hoping to see some more new arrivals next time I manage to log in! Smile xx

Cherrychopsticks · 20/10/2012 02:41

How exciting Loopy!, good luck with everything. I hope things get going naturally before the induction, but if they don't, don't worry, it doesn't necessarily mean a worse labour. Sometimes a bit slower maybe, but this may not be the case for you as things have already started. You're not going from 0 IYSWIM.

Wow, Yomping, you've had a lot going on! It sounds like a really difficult position to be in, and the consultant sounds less than helpful. But YEY for your midwife, and I'm so impressed with all your knowledge and research. Please don't apologise for posting too much, I find your posts interesting and really informative for one, and for another - that's what we're here for (like many others have said). I have everything crossed for your natural labour to pick up rapidly so you don't have to worry about any of this any more. Thinking of you.

Bella, hope you managed to get some rest. Your DS sounds adorable BTW Smile And happy (been and gone) due date! Wine

Not too uncomfortable on the yoga ball Oriniishi, in fact it's probably the most comfortable place for me to sit, it's just not exactly relaxing. I mean, I actually have to use my back muscles!Wink

Well done for staying out of hospital Zara, at least you have a definite end in sight now.

Hooray for internet Smorgs, and curtain rails Livvy! Grin Seriously Smorgs, I don't know how you've lasted this long!

Can't believe Robert Plant didn't work his magic LondonMrs. Did you 'ave a word?! Anyway, plenty of time for all the impatience later, just be thankful you could actually go to the concert! Wink

No advice Beeble, sorry. I don't think I'd know a contraction if it jumped up and bit me on the arse! But maybe call him back? False alarms (if that's what it is) are all part of the fun! Saying that, I'm not one to make a fuss, so I have visions of putting off "the call" til far to late and giving birth on the bathroom floor or something....

Mickey, STOP walking up and down stairs! Sit down, put your feet up and keep that baby in til I've had mine!! I don't have any stairs Sad

Had the mother-of-all Halloween parties yesterday. My colleague brought me a towel in case my waters broke. Apparently she'd been having nightmares. Hmm She also told all attending mums that I had been 1cm on Wednesday, so could well be 2 or 3 by now Blush. Felt a bit exposed, everyone knowing the state of my cervix. Demonstrated the obstacle course to the horror of the watching parents, but got through it in one piece, though tired and a bit achey-hipped. Went out for a very nice meal with DH afterwards.
I thought my cold was going as my throat is much better, but stage 2 has kicked in and it's all in my nose and head now.Sad Really hope it goes soon, need to be on top form for D-Day, whenever that may be.
Another very relaxing Saturday is called for, I think!Grin

Kyyria · 20/10/2012 04:05

Well, the curry seemed like a fantastic idea until the reflux kicked in Hmm

LO is lying with his feet/arsed wedged.in my ribs and my feet feel so tight and swollen so am currently.very much awake. DH is also snoring his head off!

In case you're awake Loopy I've been awake since about 2am and am.thinking about my due date buddy - hope all has kicked off naturally and that you're taking in things in your stride.

Right, time to have a pee and see if I can settle again...

londonlivvy · 20/10/2012 05:27

Oh kyyria how annoying re reflux. I am also suffering and awake. And - schoolgirl error - the gaviscon is in the bedroom with DF whilst I am in the spare room (just as well, since he looks like a zombie of tiredness already and really doesn't need to be disturbed by me) . So I've adjusted my hundreds of pillows so I'm sitting nearly upright and hoping that'll work.

LoopyLa · 20/10/2012 06:33

Hey ladies Smile

Been awake a lot of the night due to twinges becoming quite moderate period type pains. Not hugely regular but lasting around 30-40 seconds plus, so feeling happy (really, while in pain?!? Hmm) that things have seemed to have started naturally. Also good for practicing deep breathing techniques! Not sure what that means re: induction process but might be able to tell you later after chat with MW.

Thank you so much for the constant support, DH & I made a decision not to tell any fambo what's happened yet as we think their reactions (constant texting/calling) will drive us both nuts at this stage, lol! So all of your support & pom pom shaking means a lot to me, it really does Thanks Massive, massive thanks Smile

Beeblebear · 20/10/2012 07:05

Quick pop on before trying to catch some shut eye.. Little baby bear born at 5:44pm. 7lb 10oz. Not sure how long. Started after 9am walkathon . And jalapeno toast for breakfast. Laboured at mil house until contractions were 1min long and 2 apart

In triage, by time I was assessed I was 9cm. Wheeled me into l&d and dh RANto admitting and I had to pant through contractions to stall, and 30 min of pushing they had to suck baby out due to dropping heart rate from things happening so fast. No time for pain killers. Did get a local before venetouse but didn't have time to kick in really.
And now for the gory details, those faint of heart overt Thu eyes.
2ND degree year, numerous stitches including to anus, and one massive hemmeroid. Omg

Still working on the name. Hope to post again soon.

Hugs to everyone!

Kyyria · 20/10/2012 08:05

Congrats beetle and welcome to baby bear Thanks

Loopy glad things look like they're starting of their own accord...will keep fingers crossed Grin

Kyyria · 20/10/2012 08:06

Damn autocorrect - that was supposed to be beeble not beetle

Smorgs · 20/10/2012 08:25

Oh beeble congratulations but sorry to hear about the tear Sad Hope it's not too sore and you feel a bit better soon Flowers

loopy exciting! Hope this is it for you!

yomping you poor thing that sounds like such a difficult situation. I'm really hoping you get the home birth you want, but please try not to feel bad if you don't. It's not your fault, it's just fate how your body reacts and most people in hospitals just want the best result for you and your baby even if some seem like nobbers Flowers

livvy yay for curtain rails!! They do make such a difference. Hope your heartburn dies down, I find the triggers are dairy and fatty food. I think cherry was asking for tips too - have you tried Rennie? They taste so much better than Gaviscon. Also I would be wary of Zantac. It's pretty strong stuff and I think it works in a different way to the Rennie/Gaviscon-type remedies. That said I do have a friend who swears by it.

Well I seem to have developed a sore throat - doesnt help with trying to breathe in golden light. does your immune system suddenly shut down in late pregnancy? Seems like we're all ill.
Pretty uncomfortable night with lots of BH but nothing more. Off to clinic this morning - hope I'm not in there as long as last time!
Have a good Saturday everyone x

bella2012 · 20/10/2012 09:06

huge congratulations to you beeble! And bloody well done-that sounds incredibly painful. You are a hero.

good luck at the clinic smorgs!

Sympathy on bad night's sleep kyria, livvy and loopu, I was awake worrying and should have logged on for some company!

cherry make sure you do have a relaxing day today after all of that. Are you nearly on mat leave? Sorry about your cold. Get that out of the way before baby is allowed to come.

loopy so glad things have started naturally for you. Hope it all progresses smoothly- can't wait to hear all about it. Big love to you!

Well done on your super positive day livvy, you have done so well getting all of that done.

I am getting so impatient now! Come on baby!

MickeyTheShortOne · 20/10/2012 09:58

Congratulations Beeble! Loopy looking forward to hearing some news soon...

Well I'm still here and so is the baby. Raaaaaa

OctoberOctober · 20/10/2012 10:15

V quick post while I can - baby Max was born on Thursday at 4am, 8ib 1oz, 6 days over.

Managed most of it with Tens and G&A until needing ventouse at the end as cord was wrapped around his neck and he kept bungeying back with every push. Hmm

DP has been amazing throughout. Smile

Was feeling a bit tearful about trying to breastfeed last night, no one said how bloody painful it is...Sad

Hope I can keep it up, feels tricky at the mo, anyone else feeling like this?

Several MW at hospital reckoned he was latched on ok so must just be that I have sensitive nipples - not that surprised, they've only been used for pleasurable purposes so far despite what mother nature might have intended for them!

Kyyria · 20/10/2012 12:28

Congrats October - that's great news Smile

Well my plan for a walk today is on hold - pelvis is usual crappy self and feet feel like they are about to explode! DH has suggested going out for lunch somewhere in the car where we can have a short potter around rather than a 4 mile round walk that I was suggesting yesterday. I do fancy some fresh air as other than mw appt on thurs I've not been out of the house since last Saturday. That said I'm feeling crap today - generally bleurgh, achey and feeling slightly nauseous.

Hope everyone else is well x
