Hi beaut - scan date buddy! I do understand what you mean about it not feeling real, it doesn't to me either, and we have already had 2 scans! Try not to worry though - in 2 weeks, you will have had your scan and everything will be fine, I'm sure. If you are worried though, are there any private hospitals/clinics near you that you could go to?

Still absolutely shattered, and bloating means that I now can't wear my work trousers, so dresses from now on - refuse to start wearing mat clothes until at least 12 wk scan!!

mwncigirl · 11/10/2012 13:41

Thanks terror, it's funny how hubbies aren't always the best total lot during PG. they don't always get it do they!
Just gonna type on my phone instead, headachey todaySad

LittlePickleHead · 11/10/2012 14:13

RT I'm also having the 'life on hold' feeling. I told my bosses at work yesterday as I am just feeling worse and worse so I thought it might help for them to know why. Luckily they were really happy for me (and had suspected) so it was a relief. Under two weeks til my scan now, it can't come quickly enough!

Am Envy you get another scan as with DS we were only 9 weeks at our 12 week scan and never got another one... so I have been determined to get one around the right time this time! Just posting again to put this back in my threads i'm on list. Hope everyone is doing ok

beaver33 · 11/10/2012 16:29

Afternoon...

10 how lovely for you - congratulations, you're having a baby!! Grin
Only about 10 days til mine...cannot wait.

So I went to see my GP this afternoon about bad puking and I've been prescribed promethazine hydrochloride. I was assured it is safe for pregnancy. Does anyone have any experience of using it before I start?

Also, they tested my urine and I've apparently also got a urine infection...which is not helping my general feeling of crap-ness.

What a lovely afternoon.

kittykatskumkwat · 11/10/2012 16:36

Congrats 10, breathe a big sigh of relief
Hope you feel better soon and beaver hope the meds work!
I'm off on holl's tomoz so will be missing in action for abit, wishing everyone with any scans etc good luck

RTchoke · 11/10/2012 16:50

Beaver - I've no experience with promethazine but I think it's a antihistamine so it may make you a little (more) tired. There is a hyperemisis support thread on the pregnancy boards and I bet they'd have some info. I hope you feel better soon.

Kitty - where are you off to? Have fun!

10Storey - yay to your scan. Did you not want the nuchal test? I know loads of people don't but I do so I'm worried in case myscan is too early (you have to be between 11+3 and 13+5 and the date I've been given is the date I think I'll be 11+3.

berri · 11/10/2012 17:08

Great news 10 :)

My scan is a week on Sat - time is really dragging!

Beautician I feel the same as you - not really got any symptoms, clothes not tight, not feeling as tired as I was before. It makes you wonder whether you've made it all up in your head doesn't it.

Guess we've just got to stick it out until we get that bump!

booboomonster · 11/10/2012 17:09

RT I can totally relate. I feel especially bad about snapping at the kids. Just too tired and grim feeling... totally life on hold, I am hoping against hope this lifts soon as otherwise I will be a total recluse by May!

Great news 10!

milk yes I thought that might be the case - the person I knew who did it had a very unusual mix of sri lankan and jewish surnames which blended well together. I realised after I posted that me and DH's mix of welsh and irish would sound ridiculous blended together!

Hope everyone else is muddling through ok!

Picklep · 11/10/2012 17:18

Congrats 10!! Lovely news x

Re the nuchal scan, has anyone had it? I was under the impression that it was just like a normal scan, do they do something different? Should i be preparing myself for something more then a scan.

9 + 5

Picklep · 11/10/2012 17:20

Also....where the hell is my scan letter??? I saw my midwife beginning of last week! All the waiting is driving me crazy!

RTchoke · 11/10/2012 17:25

Pickle - the nuchal is a normal scan but they spend some time measuring the back of the baby's neck (the nuchal fold). The thicker that fold the greater your chance of having a baby with Downs or other abnormality. To calculate your exact risk they combine the nuchal measurement with some blood test results.

Picklep · 11/10/2012 18:01

Thanks RT - the dreaded blood tests! Ugh.

Hi everyone. Congrats on your scan 10! Sounds like everything went perfectly. I'm having a bit of a low day. I had my first midwife appt and the trainee and midwife couldn't take my blood. They tried on both arms but said my veins are too small today. It was yucky and I've felt crap ever since so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself :-( She seemed surprised that I don't have ms when my mum gets it so bad but she was relieved to hear I am very tired. She says tiredness is a very good sign that things are progressing. My next appt is in 2 weeks when I'll now be faced with two sets of blood because of today's failure. Lucky me!!

gosh it's been all go! :)

beaver am glad you have been looked after. hope the meds kick in soon :)

FB announcements 10! Are you our first officially 'outed' member?!

oh peardrop that sounds harsh. will you have to go back to have it done another day then? great to hear being tired is a good sign. TBH altho I had terrible sickness and headaches and dizziness with the baby I mc'ed i was not tired, hungry or weeing more than normal. I felt something was up with that. So am glad tiredness is a good sign because I am knackered!

boo muddling through is about right!

i think you are very lucky getting another scan 10!

booboomonster · 11/10/2012 19:28

10, Peardrop is probably having 2 sets of bloods because of the nuchal ones - I think you have to have them between 10 - 13 weeks (or something approx like that), if you want the nuchal test done. Bad luck with the resistant veins, peardrop it's grim if you are feeling ill anyway to have to think about these things.

I think you might be our first outed member 10 - how exciting!!

Have you got your scan date yet wild??

peardrop2 · 11/10/2012 19:40

10 yes boob is right. 1st set is for blood group etc and 2nd lot is part of the screening for Down's syndrome at 10+2.

wild yes it was certainly reassuring to hear that tiredness is a good sign as that, constant peeing and extreme hunger are my main symptoms.

LittleBairn · 11/10/2012 21:21

Lol wild think I might have been the first outed after my pil posted on FB when I was only 6 weeks! Then my mum texted everyone in her phone book to announce it while I was actually still on the phone telling her!
I only have my bosses left to tell.

I am now off for 12 days I'm so relieved. I'm so tired at the moment even 10-12 hours in bed is no relief.
MS has now hit me really hard ( major projectile vomiting in the garden last night Blush )feel nauseous all day but the vomitting doesn't hit till about 7pm. The only thing that seems to help is fanta or 7up I'm not a fan of carbonated drinks or the sugar content but it's the only thing that stops me vomitting during the day.
Oh I also have really serve reflux that wakes my up in the middle of the night.
I'm still loosing weight, I have zero appetite even when I do eat my stomach seems to only be able to hold a small amount of food.

Sorry for the moaning. Blush

Bunnychan · 12/10/2012 06:34

I'm so jealous of all the scans and mw appointments. I haven't heard anything yet; everyday I check the post but there's nothing :-( I feel massive today, my bloat has come back with avengence! I even weighed myself to see if I have been piling pounds but I weigh exactly the same. Caught a couple of peopl at work looking at my fat tum so everyone probably thinks Im getting porky lol (8+0).
Hope you all have a easy symptom day today x
