sounds like a good plan panda.

PedanticPanda · 04/10/2012 12:52

Nope no blood has been taken, that's why I'm quite confused, all that's been done is an ultrasound which was looking for reasons for reoccuring UTI's, but the ultrasound found the tumour and now I've to get follow up cat scans. I think you're all right though, surely he wouldn't say it was benign unless it was definitely true.

TerracottaPie · 04/10/2012 14:54

Oh goodness Panda are doing ok?

You can phone and ask for a telephone appt with the GP if you need to. Today even. And if more questions come of that then make an appointment to see them? At least you'll have the name.

Your kidneys among other things have a lot to do with controlling your blood pressure. Has yours been checked? High blood pressure can cause headaches. Might not have anything to do with that of course. And dizzy and light headed are more low blood pressure symptoms. Sorry, that probably not very helpful!

Re diagnosing benign. If they can diagnose it so specifically and it's something rare then it must look different on an ultrasound to those that aren't benign or those it's unclear on do you think? Another way to look at is if they had been very concerned over the results you would have been requested to come in earlier for them. Well ime that's what usually happens.

Hope you get some more answers soon. Not knowing is so hard.

ng1412 · 04/10/2012 17:18

Just checking in again, up to yesterday I had no symptoms at all then suddenly they hit me, bad MS, headaches and general ugh. Had forgotten about the bad heads but had them up to the 9th week with my DD. That means another 2 weeks of joy ahead!

Craving ginger biscuits but they don't sell them here in our region of France so my mum made me some, oh and also want Haribo but I am not allowed them. My husband won't let me have them!!!

So sorry to hear about Weather but do remain positive as it happened to me first time I got pregnant but now have gorgeous DD.

Pedantic I hope as Terracotta says you get some clarity on things soon.

BeauticianNotMagician · 04/10/2012 17:50

Pedantic As others have said i'm 100 per cent sure the GP wouldn't have given a misdiagnosis.Hopefully it will cause little if any bearing On pregnancy.Maybe write a list of all the questions you want answered to reel off to MW/GP as and when they come to you.

I got the all clear on my blood results today.Phew.So that has lifted my mood somewhat. Also got my scan date.It is on the 25th October.I'm excited and yet nervous all at the same time Grin

scooby26 · 04/10/2012 18:01

weather thinking of u x

panda how very crap tho confident he must know its benign or can't have said it!

beautician. Yay!!!!!!! So pleased for u!

Had my booking in with gp today. Got midwife appr to arrange scan on 22 oct when back from kos ( go on sat ). Have verbally confirmed I'll be classed as high risk due to previous group b strep so I'll have to have consultant led hospital birth. Had major complaints last time not least they wrote down DS birth weight wrong by 1lb so major paediatric concerns for weeks after when he failed to return to birth weight and reassured to hospital! Only discovered when found photo of weigh in! ( I didn't see it as on operating table! ) Hugh lack of faith in hospital re that and other things so considering change of hospital to one further away- but are they all the same ?!! Going to go in and go through notes if we get past 12 weeks.

Hope youre all well!

X

fertilityFTW · 04/10/2012 18:08

Oh weather - I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you're finding some positives to focus on and that there's some great news for you on the horizon! Thanks

PedanticPanda · 04/10/2012 18:09

Thanks everyone for all of your kind posts. The GP phoned me and explained that he'd spoken to the radiology department since our earlier appointment. They said they're 90% sure it's this particular benign tumour because of the shape of it but wanted to book me in for a catscan to get a better look to be sure, but obviously now I'm pregnant they're not able to so are going to give me extra ultrasounds then once baby is here then give me a catscan to then decide what to do from there. If it is this thing they think it is then they can just treat it with surgery.

fertilityFTW · 04/10/2012 18:18

What an ordeal panda - hope all is smooth sailing for you!

Rhienne · 04/10/2012 19:07

Hi all. Been busy lately but now caught up on the thread again. Sad to see some of use have had to drop out. :(

Since I last posted I've managed to organise to get a different role at work next year that suits me way better than what they had offered, had a first scan, all looking good! Yeah!, been away with work for two nights, managed to rig room allocations in shared rooms so I was with the 2 people who know, phew, and survived two late night meals, though skipped the following pub sessions, and today had first MW appointment... So things are going pretty well here. Now if only the MS keeps decreasing, it'll be great!

cuppateaandagingersnap · 04/10/2012 20:05

weather can't imagine how hard this is on you, lots of love Thanks

panda that sounds like quite a lot to deal with, sounds like your GP has been good at finding out some extra information for you and at least they'll keep a close eye on you through the pregnancy, just being nosy do you know now what it's called? Just ignore if u don't want to say!

I've been rubbish at waiting for things, I've got a private early scan on Saturday but even still I borrowed the fetal Doppler from work and have just spent the last half an hour listening to a tiny fast little heartbeat

Cuppa Wow wish i had one of those.I really cant wait for the reassurance of that first scan.I was going to book a private one but i only have 3 weeks until 12 week one so may as well wait now.

kittykatskumkwat · 04/10/2012 20:32

Cupa I thought they don't work until you are around 16wks? I know the midwives are sometimes reluctant to use them that early as they can't always hear it even then!
Are you sure it isn't your heartbeat you can hear?

BeauticianNotMagician · 04/10/2012 20:38

I asked earlier up thread when they work.I am sure thr midwifes before listened for a heartbeat at my booking appt.I remember them saying don't be alarmed as it is probably way to early to hear anything.Luckily both times i did.

They didn't do it this time though.

kittykatskumkwat · 04/10/2012 20:46

I know they defiantly didnt do mine till alot later and it was my sisters 6 months ago at 16wks that they said that to her?!
Just looked online though and it says you should be able to hear if at 12 and there is a possibility from 8wks, I'd never have thought that but I'm guessing it has to be a really good one

cuppateaandagingersnap · 04/10/2012 20:49

10 I think I'm only 7+2 but was able to find the heartbeat much easier than I thought I should and it was reading a good strong 170ish so definitely the babies and not mine - although I was pretty excited! I suppose it's possible I'm a few days further on than I thought but not that much I wouldn't have thought and I know it can be hard to hear before 9 weeks, I guess I'll see at my actual scan on sat!

BeauticianNotMagician · 04/10/2012 20:49

Kitty I may well be wrong. It was 6 and 7 years ago.Although Bedfordshire were quite far behind with everything and i had my booking appt a lot later.I didnt have my 12 week scan until 18 weeks with first and 16 weeks with second Shock
So can't wait for a nice early one this time.

berri · 04/10/2012 20:57

panda how annoying for you to have another thing to worry about on top of all the other pregnancy worries.

I hope you get some answers soon. Like someone else upthread said (sorry on phone so can't look), perhaps he could tell it is benign because of where it is & it's shape/size.

Funny, was going to mention dopplers on here - I was going to get one but after my doc not being able to find the baby's heartbeat with one yesterday, and an agonising 20 min wait for an ultrasound, I think I might try to do without!

All fine with the scan btw - I seriously couldn't believe how much it was wriggling around, amazed I can't feel it in there.

PedanticPanda · 04/10/2012 21:01

cuppa they think its an Angiomyolipoma, which is the benign tumour and what they're 90% sure of. Although he didn't say what else they think it could be if it turns out not to be this thing.

cuppateaandagingersnap · 04/10/2012 22:03

Thanks panda does ring some faint bells back to my med school days, from what I remember they are very characteristic on imaging like ultrasound and CT, they're obviously sure enough of the diagnosis or they would be doing more than just keeping an eye on it during your pregnancy, I think the main problem with them can be bleeding so you'll need to let your doc know if you're getting blood in your wee.

RTchoke · 05/10/2012 08:29

Morning Ladies

Panda - what a stressful bit of news for you. I'm so glad the GP called you back. I expect they'll monitor your kidneys really carefully in this pregnancy. I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy which basically means my kidneys didn't cope. In my second pregnancy I escaped pre-e but my kidneys leaked loads of protein throughout so I saw a lovely specialist who I'll see again this time.

Cuppa - what kind of doc are you?

I had my private early scan yesterday. We say a tiny little blob with a beating heart. The heart rate was 130, both DDs were 150ish at this stage. The oldwives tale is boys beat slower, we'll see...

wilderumpus · 05/10/2012 09:22

congrats on your scans berri and rt! what great, great news!

am 8 weeks today :) it was at 8+2 last time we found out the preg had definitely, definitely failed.... am pretty sure symptoms had stopped by now so am loving my utter exhaustion, huge belly, need for cheesy flavoured crisps and sorest of sore boobs!

DS has only got about 12 chicken pox spots and most are blistered now. if i noticed the first spot around a week ago could we be nearly out of the woods now does anyone know???

is it wrong that i am excited about my chinese takeaway tonight already?! Grin

BeauticianNotMagician · 05/10/2012 09:31

Wilde Once all spots are scabbed over it is no longer contagious.Sounds like he escaped with a mild dose.

Not wrong to be excited about your chinese.I am excited about a place called Taybarns that we are going to tomorrow. They do all kinds of different food Carvery,Salad bar,Chinese,Italian and the best bit a huge cake section.
