Started a new thread for all us April ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Teapig the bit about your cats made me laugh out loud! It's like they are warning you! Ha ha

JaquelineHyde · 05/10/2012 19:30

Evening ladies thank you for all the support.

I'm not really talking about it in real life as I don't want to worry people and get even more worried about it by talking about it all the time.

However, it did distract me all day at Uni today and I have just sat in bed and cried for ages and so have left a message for my midwife team just saying I would really like to chat things over a bit. I think that's probably the best I can do for now otherwise I will drive myself mad with it all.

So I may rant and fret on here as my escape from reality if that is ok with you lot. Next scan and consultant apt booked for Dec 6th but as I said I may get something earlier if they want to have a look at how things are going.

Now is it horrible that I have gone against the MN unspoken (yet bitched about a lot) rules and have posted my scan pic on FB to announce my pg?!! Grin

usernamegoeshere · 05/10/2012 23:41

I don't think there is anything wrong with posting scan pic on FB, I haven't done it cos I only told 2 people and plan to not tell anyone else until after 6th November but otherwise I probably would, its a nice simple way to share your news.

Anyone else finding they moved on now from looking in prams at cute babies & instead are straining to read the make of pram & mentally weighing it?

aufaniae · 06/10/2012 00:18

Ah, forget the MN rules, a scan pic on FB is a lovely way to announce your baby I reckon :)

bunnygirl80 · 06/10/2012 01:05

username my pram obsession is similar to how a lot of guys are with cars! I can tell the make and model, and sometimes even year of manufacture from about 20 paces

aufaniae that info about accuracy of dating scans is exactly what I was told by my dr, so it's clearly what they work to here in Oz. I also got asked cycle length as well as lmp date to work out edd, so they take into account longer/shorter cycles. My cycles are all over the place, so we've gone with scan date which dates me a few days earlier than lmp would. I'm pretty sure we have the same scanning technology here too!

I did the scan pic on fb announcement despite it being something that annoys me when others do it. Sat down to start emailing various friends with the news, realised it would take me hours and that I'm lazy, so posted pic instead!

Missmuffet28 · 06/10/2012 03:04

username you have pointed out to me a pram obsession I wasn't aware I had!!!!! I distinctly remember doing this sat in the car today at school!!

Well it's 2.40am and I have resorted to checking in on mn as I had to get up for a damn pee! It's so cold and think the trip to the loo has woken me up :(

Also on the trip back to the car from the school gate today ds and I saw a little boy get run over, it was the most sickening thing ever! His mum was on side of the road he for whatever reason was on the other, ran out from behind a illegally parked but don't get me started on that the yellow lines are the ones put there for school times so this doesn't happen car and screech, bang he was half under the car half on the bonnet little legs dragged underneath! He jumped straight up wailing and ran to his mum, ambulance wasn't called but think she took him to hospital to be checked out I hope so any way! Lucky the woman driving wasn't going very fast but blimey I thought i was gonna vomit! Ds went white as a sheet we got back to car and just had to sit there for a few mins I had tears in my eyes :(

On a happier note told ds tonight about little bean! I gave him scan pics, first of all he said oh is that cousins name (also pg) I said no.... Takes him a few seconds and he says IS IT YOU???! I told him yes and he has little tears in his eyes which he's clearly embarrassed about as he's trying to hide his eyes, then he says In a little squeaky voice ' this is very emotional' by now I have tears in my eyes too and he is roiling round the floor like a loon going woo woo woo!! It was a pretty cool moment and a nice pick me up after earlier events!

I'm also finding myself counting on my phone calendar again so I guess my edd I've been given is bothering me slightly maybe I might ring midwife before my 16wk appt just to get facts straight

And what are these rules on posting scan pics to Facebook??? Was gonna do mine after IL's know, is it something that's frowned upon then?!

12+4 ( I still thinks its more like 11+3 but who am I to argue!)

EssexWelsh · 06/10/2012 03:34

miss muffet I'm on pee awake time too, EVERY night between 2-4 I wake and every night it wakes me up for an hour, very annoying!

Missmuffet28 · 06/10/2012 03:45

It's terrible ain't it lol usually I make it until about 5 or 6 that's not so bad this is horrid I could of sworn it was almost getting up time! Serves me right for going bed early I guess, ah well lazy day snoozing on sofa for me tomorrow!

Teapig · 06/10/2012 07:20

I'm wide awake while DH and cats are fast asleep. Despite my Strictly excitement I fell asleep at 9.30pm and now wide awake earlier than I wanted. A week at work has exhausted me.

I'm very pleased to have passed my miscarriage milestone which was yesterday. Very nervous about my scan but each day feels like a step forward.

HaveALittleFaith · 06/10/2012 07:41

I'm wide awake because DH left for work about 10 minutes ago. I too am getting up to per every night.

Teapig that must be encouraging. How long til your scan?

Thinking of you Jacqueline.

I have a pram dilemma - I really want a Quinny but my Dad paid for DSIs's pram and I don't think it cost as much as a Quinny! But my Grandma gave us money for a cot but we don't need one - we have DSis' Moses basket and then DH's old cot for when its bigger so we might use some of the cot money towards the Quinny. Ideally I want an all singing, all dancing matching set thing which starts as a pram and converts to a pushchair etc.

Today I'm off for a facial (lush!), can't wait! :)

EssexWelsh · 06/10/2012 07:58

I'm getting into pram excitement too havealittle. I'm not a showy person, not worried about hair and make up and all that, but I really want a showy pram, whenever I'm out and I just love a pram I see, it's always a bugaboo! But I will def get mine 2nd hand, probably eBay, they have some gorgeous, good as new ones, so am more than happy to do that! I am a total novice tho, no idea on latest models and what is 'the' pram of the moment. May go spend the day in Crouch End and pram spot, anyone not in London, that's yummy mummy heaven!!

CrackleMauve · 06/10/2012 08:51

I wod definitely recommend a Bugaboo Bee for a London pram. Most if my friends who bought big carry cot type ones have ended up buying an umbrella fold pram now as it's lighter. Whereas the ones I know with Bees still use the Bee.

We do have a Bee and a cheap umbrella fold. But that was bought so we could store it easily at the childminder when I got pregnant and found using a sling (my preferred baby transport option) a bit too exhausting at the end of the day). I love my Bee. It is light, nippy, turns on a pin and you can fold it on the bus if needed.

magictorch · 06/10/2012 09:47

Awww MissMuffet your son's reaction to your news has made me all weepy! Sniff!

I put my scan picture up on Facebook. We told close friends and family first, but with friends spread to the four corners of the Earth, it seemed like a nice way to do it and I've had some truly lovely comments from people. After 7 years TTC, I'm gonna enjoy every moment of being preggas!

Had a fab start to the day. Nice cuddles with DH who beyond excited about the baby, he cooked me a great fry up and bonus- the dentist called to cancel!!

Haven't really started looking at prams yet, so I may take a wander to the shops later....

Hope you all have a great day too x

magictorch · 06/10/2012 09:48

Oops, 14+1

SneezySnatcher · 06/10/2012 09:52

I love looking at prams too. We still have DD's Bugaboo Cameleon so we don't need a new one, but I can't help looking all the same! The Cam is great though and still looks like new, despite being used for 2.5 years. I think we'll just get a buggy board (and a coffee holder) for the Cameleon, although I'd love new covers for it so it seems 'new'.

Missmuffet28 · 06/10/2012 10:02

Made me weepy too!! Of all the people I was nervous about telling his reaction was by far the most nerve racking and I couldn't have asked for a better one! He has his little picture stuck next to his computer now bless him!

As the sun is shining and I'm feeling not so bad this morning I feel it's gonna be a great day hope its the same for everyone else!!!

aufaniae · 06/10/2012 10:08

Missmuffet that's lovely. Made me well up too :)

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 06/10/2012 15:21

Missmuffett your post made me well up twice. Once for the little boy at school :( and for your DS and his lovely reaction to your news! :)

Don't get me started on night time trips to the loo, that's my number one gripe at the moment (now that the sickness has passed). I'm up every night now, twice if I dare to sleep past my usual alarm time of 6am. I used to pride myself on having a steel bladder and being able to sleep through anything, and this has really knocked me for six. I love my sleep! Supposed I'd better get used to it.

DH and I have announced the news to everyone, but we haven't put anything on Facebook. We're not hiding it from Facebook, so if anyone makes a comment I won't immediately delete it, and I expect to have a good whinge on there too about my ailments. I'm just not one for big announcements, I even got slightly embarrassed telling folk at work - eventhough I deep down I want to shout it from the roof tops!

14+5 eek!

alwayshopeful13 · 06/10/2012 17:34

Hello all, sorry I've not been around for last few days. Mad week at work and then my mum arrived on Thurs for the weekend so been busy spending time with her. On phone and not much time so sorry not to be able to catch up on everyone's news now - will do Monday when things calm down a bit. But just to let you know our 12 week scan was yesterday and all present and correct. Very wriggly baby who wouldn't do what sonographer needed without major prodding-hilarious! Got down's tests results straight away and all fine there-sorry don't know what the different bits of it are but basically risk about 1 in 7500 which apparently is low risk and right for my age. So happy days all round. Starting to relax a bit now, and getting excited, especially being able to tell people. Still have horrible nausea, and a recurring headache for the past 5 days (which lovely NHS direct nurse reckons is migraine brought on by hormones-just what I need!!). So sofa and duvet still my best friends but feeling awful is definitely easier to bear after yesterday's good news!

Will be back properly asap x

tattooedapril87 · 06/10/2012 20:51

Missmuffet28 · 06/10/2012 21:04

Welcome :)

miarosemum · 06/10/2012 21:22

Welcome tattooed!! Is this your first dc? Well whose idea was it to do baked Camembert the other day?? I just had to get one today and am sitting here now with it in heaven with crusty French bread and onion chutney washed down with a glass of alcohol free rose wine...I am living on the edge!!

Ollibobs · 06/10/2012 22:23

Hi tattooedapril1987. Welcome!

tattooedapril87 · 06/10/2012 22:52

thanks guys!
yes first dc(hopefully!) and first pregnancy so this is all brand new to me!
havnt told anyone yet apart from bf so it feels weird talking about it- even on here! eep

im hoping everything will be fine for scan- my tummy is defo bigger: but no actual weightgain which i find odd!
prob due to the fact im usually a choc and ice cream fiend but i don't like sweet things anymore :,(

Missmuffet28 · 07/10/2012 02:40

tatooed that's really poo you have gone off sweet stuff I don't know what id do if I'd gone off that too! I was a smoker and a filtered coffee drinker and I liked my alcohol (socially, I'm not a raving alcoholic I swear!) and all of those things make me feel so sick so haven't touched them since about week 4 I'm also a chocoholic so if I'd gone off that..... Well it doesn't bear thinking about!

Apart from my dp, mn was the first to know for me too but it's fab and exactly what every pregnant lady should have!! An antenatal mn thread it's been so so helpful and a relief to talk about it, also I look forward to helping everyone else along!

Personally I think scans are so scary I couldn't wait for mine to be done just to hear those words 'everything looks ok' I feel like I can now get on and enjoy it more.

I'm up at this time mainly for my nightly gotta pee time but also because this damn date not adding up thing has really been pissing me off! I know for a fact that I was at the end of my last period on the night I got taken to A&E (alcohol related but I still swear I'm not an alcoholic! Worst moment of my life and won't be repeating it!) any way I'm sat here going back through my text messages and I come across the ones arranging the fateful night out!!!
This is where I feel like an absolute frigging idiot!!!! It was the weekend before I thought it was and so in turn I know my period started on the 11th not the 17th July and so therefore the date 12+3 I was given at my scan is absolutely bang on!!!! Doh how stupid do I feel now!!!! Why didn't I check this way in the first instance instead of being all confused about dates etc!! Where there's a will there's a way! And I reeeeally wanted to clear up the the date thing!!

Hope everyone is ok :)
12+5 (I'm sure of this now!)
