Hi girls!

I'm sorry for the lack of personal replies but I just can't keep up. Blush

loopy I'm glad that you get to have your homebirth. I really admire all of you that are going down that path. Grin

hetty I hope your growth scan goes ok this afternoon. I have mine tomorrow morning. I have to go alone too. Dp is at work and well you all know what my sister has been like so wouldn't dare ask.
I'm quite looking forward to it actually. Some me and baby time. Every other time I've seen her i have had either mil, dp or the kids in tow.

Looking forward to more births. Dying to see baby pics.

ST82 · 11/09/2012 14:25

ShellWeDance hurray indeed! The next 3 days will drad, i am sure but it will all be worth it by Friday 4pm! I am hoping i get to leave a lit earlier Grin

loopy i admire you for going with home birth! Do you think it would be too late me to consider it? I am still low risk but at 37 +5 i wonder if it is too last minute to be able to arrange everything... a friend of mine had a home birth 7 months ago, it was such a positive experience for her and on second thoughts, perhaps i should have given it some consideration before as well... Hmm

Well, the growth scan turned into me being strapped up to a CTG for 45 minutes... Baby isn't too big. In fact, baby is measuring rather smaller than they'd like. And I've also apparently been leaking fluid without noticing, because my levels are lower than they should be. Baby appears fine and healthy, plenty of movement still, but I'm now being referred to a consultant and having to be monitored once a week at the day assessment unit to keep an eye on things. Been instructed to rest (likely to happen with 3 children to look after Hmm ) and if there's even a slight change in movements to get straight back in for more monitoring.

Back for another scan and CTG in a week's time, consultant not for 2 weeks which seems a bit pointless to me because she could well have arrived by then! I'm just doing as I'm told lol.

LittleGoldPlasticPeople · 11/09/2012 18:43

hello all,

I hope all of you still at work are managing to take it easy, I don't know how you have the energy!

I'm very nearly 37 weeks, so hopefully all set for a home birth in the next few weeks. I need to sort out a pile of towels, a torch and all that stuff but hopefully that won't take much organising. The main potential hurdle I have is my very low iron levels. Last Wednesday I ended up having IV iron in a attempt To up the levels. I will have another blood test next week to see if it has worked slim keeping everything crossed.

st82 I think you are fine to request a home birth if you decide that's what you want. Then there is no pressure to stay at home, if you feel you want to go in to hospital you can do at any stage. Personally I've had 2 lovely positive home births and would thoroughly recommend them Smile

Thumbwitch · 12/09/2012 03:38

Oh what fun. Just tested my BP at home and it's 141/90. Called my consultant, I've to go in this afternoon to have my urine tested for protein - hope it's all ok - hope I'm straight back out again. Trying REALLY hard not to stress because obviously that will not improve BP.

goodsenseofdirection · 12/09/2012 05:38

Oh thumb, good luck with that test. Hopefully it's only a blip and you'll bd back to normal soon.

I am up early due to hunger again... Forgot to buy something to put on the bedside table to nibble on. I suppose at least I can admire the new pipework and boiler installed yesterday in our otherwise inhospitable kitchen...?

elvislives2012 · 12/09/2012 08:13

Good luck thumb I was up early too with insatiable hunger. Back to bed after devouring the whole of the contents of the fridge.
I usually eat quite healthily but for the last couple of weeks I've been eating utter crap!!! Oh well I'd better enjoy it now as I'll be eating properly when the baby comes.
Off out for lunch today with a friend. Aiming for a massive bowl of pasta!!
Had a lovely weekend with DH. just the two of us all weekend with noone else popping in. Lots of cooking and freezing stuff and eating chocolate ice cream and chatting. Happy times. Am starting to look forward to the birth again too! Am I mad?!
Hope you're all ok, xxx

Thumbwitch · 12/09/2012 08:14

Seems all is ok, thankfully.
I think the home BP monitor is perhaps not as good as it was a couple of weeks ago, when its result was completely borne out by the one I had 2 days later at the doc's - after today's little scares, the hospital check showed BP to be 120/70 which is perfect. They did a bunch of other bloods as well, and a urine test, none of which I have the results for yet but they'll phone me if there's any problem; and I managed to get them to do my anti-D today so I don't have to go back again tomorrow just for that.
Also had a CTG trace - all fine there as well.
All Is Well and I'm not going to use the home BP monitor any more. :)

KPT083 · 12/09/2012 08:36

Good news Thumb

We had another NCT class last night, two in a row both finishing after 10 pm. They're good but I suspect not one of us ladies will have taken much in last night.
DH was telling the class leader how I was cooking dinner, hovering and bleaching the bathroom all at once last night... He's now got it in his head that it's going to be anytime soon - I'm only 36&4! I think it's because my mums coming on Thursday and I'm just wanting to get all jobs done so we can chill.

Is anyone else getting indigestion so bad it physically makes you sick???

newtonupontheheath · 12/09/2012 08:37

Glad to hear all is well thumb Think you have the opposite problem to me... My gp tells me my bp goes up when I go to gp/mw, even though I don't feel stressed about appointment at all! Luckily it's stayed the high end of normal this pregnancy and not tipped to too high! Maybe hide/eBay the home bp machine!

Woke up starving in the night but managed to stay in bed and get more sleep. Have already polished off half a pack of Jaffa cakes this morning Blush

DS is at nursery today Grin so I'm having some guilt-free sitting Grin

ST82 · 12/09/2012 09:35

Unlike most of you ladies, i seem to have lost all my appetite, is that normal? I have still managed to put on a little bit of weight, which is good for the baby, but generally speaking, i am not hungry nor excited about food/eating! Saying that, since i got pregnant i have put on exactly 15 kgs or 33 pounds. i am 37 +6. How much weight have you ladies put on so far? To be honest, it's strange as i haven't felt fat at any point during my preganncy, just BIG and HEAVY! Grin not sure which one is better!

2 more days in the office, excludign today!!! Hurrayyyyyy!!!

Thumbwitch · 12/09/2012 10:14

My appetite is a bit hit and miss, ST82 - partly because of the hideous acid but also because of loss of space in my stomach. So I'm eating probably more often but less at each meal. So far, I've had a net gain of 8kg; but I lost 4 in the first 12w through morning nausea and so on. I think last time I was pg I had a text book 11kg gain over the whole pg; but a little more this time, it seems (started from a higher weight as well).

I've actually, I believe, lost a bit of bodyweight from around other areas of my bod - back fat has gone down a bit, so have hips and thighs - and I don't look pg from the back, it's all out front (but it's massively out front!)

LittleGoldPlasticPeople · 12/09/2012 11:42

kpt I have had hyperemesis throughout this pg (sickness). From around 20 weeks I had acid reflux/ heartburn so bad it made me sick, the doctor prescribed omeprazole and it all but cured it. I'm on the lowest dose too, and it is perfectly safe to take during pg so maybe worth you asking about?

As for eating, my appetite is good but I can't stomach many foods. Chocolate makes me instantly sick Shock. My ds has promised he will make mea giant chocolate cake as soon as the baby is born, I can't wait to indulge again! I've still managed to put on nearly 3 stone though, despite being sick throughout Hmm

goodsenseofdirection · 12/09/2012 11:45

thumb great that it was all good news! Makes it much easier to relax now :)

ST82 I've put on 8kg at my last check a month ago so expecting to have put on more at my next check tomorrow. I'm 34+4. Hurrah for your last 2 days at work!! hope they go quickly Grin

day off today again - an actual annual leave day Grin

ST82 · 12/09/2012 13:06

opssss i thought i was doing ok by having put on 15 kgs but its quite a lot more compared to most of you! ahhh well, nevermind Grin

Thanks goodsenseofdirection!!! i can't believe these will be my last 3, actually 2 and 1/2 days at work for a while! I am so excited but at the same time, i hope i will not get too bored too quickly... I am sure my little one will keep me busy and challenged enough!

GizzyBoo · 12/09/2012 13:16

Morning ladies. Thanks for all the well wishes over FIL.
He is home today for a wee while before going to spend a month or 2 on the mainland for treatment. He will have 5 weeks of radiotherapy to shrink the cancer then removal. Probably needing a temp colostomy for a further 4 months while things settle and heal. its early stage cancer though and there is no reason to believe the outcome will be anything other than positive Smile

Had my 36 week check yesterday. All is well. Baby Boo is a bit of an octopus but isn't as massive as first feared, has moved back to lying on my right so is no longer back to back and is almost fully engaged.

Eviction plans are back on from Friday as it would be nice if he/she would put in an appearance before FIL has to go away fro treatment.

She weighed me yesterday for the first time since my 12 week booking. I have put on 7kg. I was a fattie to begin with though so have been trying to keep a eye on it. I just keep thinking how much better the weight would be if I didn't live on jammy wagon wheels and trifle Blush

I would like to join the "Waking up at 4-5am starving club" please. Whats that all about anyway?? I have never in my life woken up because I was hungry before. I had to get up for tea and biscuits BlushGrin

MakeTeaNotWar · 12/09/2012 13:29

Hi all - sorry to hear about your FIL Gizzy a horrible disease but really pleased that there's a postive outloook.

Ha I have gained 20kgs! What a fatty I am! Had a rotten day and night and still feeling rough today - started with bad indigestion (which I never get) then had progressively bad stomach and back pain which sounds promising but they were sharp and gripey. In fact i felt a bit fluey with pain in by neck and shoulders too. Could barely sleep last night and turning over in bed hurt so much I cried out. Got my 38 week app this arvo so will discuss with midwife - anyone else felt so rotten?

Haven't weighed myself for a week or two but when I did I've put on 21lbs which I was quite happy with. My appetite hasn't been affected in recent times just haven't always got as much room for my main meal as I would like to have. 36+5 and had my 36wk appt today, got half way through birth plan cause mw running late and I had to be at work. Seeing her again at 38+3 to finish birth plan. Apparently baby is 2.5/5 engaged so I guess that is half and half. I think it keeps disengaging tho especially when it feels like it is using my bladder as a bouncy castle. As long as baby waits until at least 38+3 so I can have my 30th birthday and associated visitors I'll be happy Grin

The only reason I stick with the one group is that I find it easier to keep up with fewer people. This thread moves at just the right pace for me, because I sometimes disappear for a few days at a time I like having less to catch up on. Laziness, I suppose :o

I'll join in whatever thread you lot are on so I'm not too fussed really. I'm sure the other lot are super lovely ladies too :o

pinpan · 12/09/2012 22:09

Glad to hear the outlook is positive for FIL, Gizzy. Smile

I've put on about 11 kg but it seems to have plateaued now despite my addiction to chocolate. Blush

I like our little group! We just need a suitably amusing name to distinguish it from the other group. Wink

I'm on a September thread on my NZ baby forum and they are having heaps of babies, it's exciting! A bunch of us have decided that Monday looks like a good day, so fingers crossed... Grin

Thumbwitch · 13/09/2012 00:58

I didn't even know there was another October thread Blush

Don't mind - perhaps we should just join the general postnatal thread whenever babies are born? But if they've started it already, then their babies are September ones, not October... Confused

Beeblebear · 13/09/2012 01:20

Lol, I think we (the other oct group) are jyst a little ocd. We like preparation and lists. I have been keeping up on both threads as I am lacking rl pregnant friends and would be happy if we all joined in one post natal group.

That being said if some want to keep seperate due to size that.s also good. If we don't have the time to keep ip now, we sure are not goung to have more time after baby. However if we are all busier the thread will move much slower anyways. Haha. Ok so that's my logic for oday.

Had 35 week apt.today. Next apt in 2 weeks. That.s when I will get my very first prenatal internal exam. Hmmmm anyone ese given internals yet?
