This thread is moving to fast for those of us still at work

will join in from Monday Grin

CaptainHetty · 07/09/2012 14:15

Yes me, Beeble. I'm not usually one for the whole eating certain foods or having sex to try and induce labour but to be honest, I'm so bloody uncomfortable now I'm willing to try anything once I'm full term (Monday! Not that I'm counting or anything...) I've become a bit obsessed with every twinge wondering if it's going to happen yet or not.

Sympathise, Gizzy, the BH are really getting on my nerves now, and some of them are rather uncomfortable.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 07/09/2012 14:42

Last day at work today!! Massive relief, feel like I've been struggling for ages even though I've been slacking off working short days.

GizzyBoo · 07/09/2012 15:23

Yup...feel like a ticking time bomb Beeble Grin

You're welcome Psammead Smile

Hetty I know just what you mean. I have said all the way through that this baby can come when its ready. I have changed my mind Blush
As soon as I hit 37 weeks (next week) I shall be burning the Clary sage oil, guzzling the raspberry leaf tea and popping evening primrose capsules where I have never popped them before ShockGrin
I know none of it is evidence based and probably a load of old crock but at least I know I will have done everything I can to get the baby moving before they suggest moving me to the mainland for induction!

Hubby is painting the kitchen.....I am nesting by proxy Grin

GizzyBoo · 07/09/2012 15:24

oh and enjoy your last day Fluffy I hope they are spoiling you xx

MakeTeaNotWar · 07/09/2012 16:05

I'm just wrapping up my last day in the office - feels weird! Been treated to a mammoth lunch, big bouquet and some JoJo vouchers - very spoilt

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 07/09/2012 16:23

Sounds lovely, maketea!

Mine are trying to shoehorn in extra tasks before I go Hmm but I am running for the hills come 5pm! :o

Bear1984 · 07/09/2012 17:00

Beeble yes! Lol.

Fluffy and MakeTea hooray for last day of work!

I was in a lot of pain walking to DD's school to pick her up as baby decided to sit really low. Luckily from next week, she's able to leave the school on her own now so her and a couple of her friends have agreed to walk to the end of the road together as there's yellow lines all around the nearby roads so can't park close so I can just pick her up. I feel okay with them being in a group although it's a bit like "OMG my baby is growing up too quickly!!" Lol.

elvislives2012 · 07/09/2012 18:20

Hi all. Loving the updates, it's so exciting that we are all nearly cooked. Had a massive minor breakdown yesterday having stupidly watched midwives. I couldn't imagine either going through labour or having a child at the end!! Cue lots of "what have we done?" panics. Better today. Chat with mum helped :)
Loving the weather now I'm not at work... Doing a lot of pottering!

Squigglywiggly · 07/09/2012 18:54

Can I join in (I posted a long time ago!) .. I am expecting dc2 in October! Due date is 17-10-12, but warned it may be early!

Thumbwitch · 07/09/2012 23:52

elvis - I did that on the day I was due to go into hospital to be induced with DS!! Phoned everyone I could think of to panic at Blush
It was all fine, honest. :)

babybrain3 · 08/09/2012 10:23

Hi again-sorry for not really giving any more details!! I can empathise with those of you feeling uncomfortable though.. BiscuitBiscuit

So, are you sitting comfortably?? Then ill begin.. my waters broke about 5 mins after I had got in from running errands in town and popping in to work!! Had just sat on the sofa with a cup of tea and a scone, and a clearly heard a pop and then my waters started gushing. Likely I jumped up and got to the toilet in time to let most of it out...

Called delivery and was told to go in. Waited for df to come back from work and take me in. Was told that as I wasn't having painful contractions they would monitor me for a bit on the ward and I'd nothing happened would send me home and get me back in the next day for an induction. Luckily when I was on the ward the contractions started properly as I didn't fancy being induced!

They kept me on the ward til about 11 though despite being in quite a lot of pain... And clearly disturbing the poor people in the beds nearby with their new babies!! But I had a bath which was nice and did help with the pain.

By the time I got up to the delivery suite I was in agony and asked for an epidural-the doctor was just about to put it in and I started pushing-he was out in 3 pushes!! L

Think I was lucky they didn't actually do the epidural else I wouldn't have been able to move around or do anything after he had been born.

I couldn't have him put straight onto my chest because he had such a short cord it wouldn't reach, so had to wait for df to cut it first!

I had been worried about him bring poorly with him being so early, but he was fine, no probes breathing or anything (my 1st ds was also born at 36 wks and spent a wk in scbu) so we could take him straight down to the ward.

He's been absolutely perfect ever since!! Sleeps really well and feeds really well too! He goes about 4/5 hrs between feeds sometimes, but will then feed for about an hour! Mw told me to wake him every 3 hrs, but don't see the point as if he's not hungry-he's not going to drink... You can take a horse to water!!

We were discharged from hospital on thurs evening, and told that we had to wait for the midwife to come the next day, and also to make an appt with the gp for him to have his 24 hr check-a tip for you lot is to ask for them to do this at the hospital so that you don't have to go out to the surgery-I was exhausted when I got back afterwards!!

Anyway.. Things are going well and both dc are very taken with their new baby brother!! And I am enjoying the snuggles-df is getting very good at changing nappirs too!! Long may it last!!

Sorry for the mammoth post, but thought I should catch up with you all!! Wonder who will be next?? Grin

Beeblebear · 08/09/2012 10:51

Good morning babybrain! So lovely to hear from you. Gee that sure sounds like it all happened so fast! How many hours between water breaking and delivery? Gee it sure would be nice to have that bit over and done with... I.m starting to dread the prospect.

Give the lil one a snuggle from me! He is adorable. Glad you were able to have him straight dpwn to ward.

Well my wee bean is up to his usual 3-4 am antics. Squirms himself into a case of the hiccups. Hope that means he will have nic strong lungs. I predict a acreamer here...

Oo, you need to add Psammead into that list - she's around the same time as me, I'm pretty sure, and I think she's on her 3rd DD - hopefully she'll post herself to confirm. :)

Lovely to hear from you babybrain, and so glad everything went well!

Thumbwitch · 08/09/2012 13:22

Blush - sorry babybrain!! I did read your post as well - glad things went relatively smoothly for you, and that your baby boy is being so good! Thanks

Lazy day today - R ankle is quite swollen, BP is still higher than I'd like - trying not to stress, just taking it easy. Being bugged by mozzies already - spring's only just started as well! Grrrr.

Bear1984 · 08/09/2012 15:27

Aww babybrain I'm so glad all went well. I had DD at 36 weeks too so I'm hoping this one will be similar. And only 3 pushes!! Good job you didn't have the epidural!

Hello squiggly!! Welcome :)

thumb bless ya. Try not to stress, although I can hardly talk as I couldn't get comfortable on the sofa so had a little shouting fit before I tried again lol.

elvislives2012 · 08/09/2012 17:29

Babybrain- congrats!!! THREE PUSHES!!! crosses fingers that I'm the same

lisbethsopposite · 08/09/2012 21:20

Congratulations Babybrain - we heard your great news on the other October thread. Brilliant delivery and great that all is well. I hope mine is as handy
EDD Oct 5th. DS2

MissPollysTrolleyed · 08/09/2012 21:36

Thanks for sharing your story, Babybrain and don't apologise for a long post. I love hearing birth stories and the more detail the better, especially when it's one of us or someone I know in RL.

Welcome back Squiggly. Nice to hear from you again.

Gizzy, love the nesting by proxy idea. I didn't nest at all last time but am desperate to get stuck into this time but am so busy sorting out other chaos in my life that I haven't had a chance yet. I can't wait to finish work and get started on the baby preparations. In the meantime, I'll work on getting some nesting by proxy done.

EarnestDullard · 09/09/2012 11:14

De-lurking rather sheepishly (I was previously MissPenteuth) to say massive congratulations to babybrain. How exciting, the first Oct 2012 baby!

36+1 here and very impatient. Time seems to have slowed down and I'm really hoping this baby arrives sooner rather than later (ideally in a couple of weeks, but please don't let me have 6 more weeks to wait!).

I've spent the last week filling our freezer with home cooked meals for after the baby arrives, and this morning our freezer seems to be broken. The temp's gone up to -5 and doesn't seem to be cooling. I will actually cry if I have to bin all the food in there and start again :(

GizzyBoo · 09/09/2012 12:34

So...the FIL came round Friday afternoon after receiving a phone call from the hospital. It seems they have found The Big C in his bowel. He is to be flown off island for an emergency op tomorrow. It has all been a bit tits up here since then.
Tis a bit easier today no everyone has had time to digest the news and we will know more one they have been in and had a good look again.

Operation evict Baby Boo has been put on hold.

Having said that DH and I have the most lovely lazy shag morning snuggle this morning Blush and I have just had a lovely cup of raspberry leaf tea.

babybrain I loved your birth story. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you did fabulously well. Hope you are all still loved up and enjoying the early days Smile

Welcome Squiggly

I hope everyone else is well. The weather is crap here today so I shall be mostly wallowing in the bath and eating jammy wagon wheels Blush

Thumbwitch · 09/09/2012 13:03

Oh God, Gizzy - hope FIL is ok. At least they're onto it quicksmart - that's great - hopefully they get it all now.
