Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

Yay to the increased activity. I love reading your posts. Cbear, sorry to hear about the MW. She sounds really incompetent. Could you ask for someone else? I've got all my water birth kit now and have told DH to be extra nice to me from now on or I will do a big poo and then make him get in the pool with me. Excuse the TMI. Full term this week and eagerly anticipating LO's arrival but also want him/her to wait until at least 1st September for the school year.

feralgirl · 17/08/2011 20:09

Grin at poo pool threats bumpy; I'm nicking that for def!

I am so so ready to get this over with now, although the practical part of me thinks it'd be best to wait until my due date so that I get the whole summer hols on full pay. But I swear it feels as though this child is headbutting my bits from the inside and I am having permanent horrors about my waters breaking in public. DS is potty training so I constantly carry around a bag of spare clothes for him; maybe I should be doing the same for myself as well!

Sorry to be a party pooper but DH has worked for M&S for years and says the the £1K voucher thing is an urban myth (although it'd be easy-peasy for me to get it, all I'd have to do is wander in to see him and then - oops! And it'd be even better for us with his staff discount too...)

jimmijam · 17/08/2011 20:42

Haha love the pooh in the pool threat!! Obv i didnt have a clue about it either time but dh was happy 2 descibe some of wot happened during labour :-/
With both ds and dd waters were broken 4 me 2wards the end of labour so not expecting them 2 break early on this time eother.
Dreams wise i keep dreaming about my childhood-relatives that have passed, school, college etc. Tho on monday night i had a dirty dream, woke up and stared at dh 4 a while debating wethet 2 wake him up then decided i was 2 uncomfy and didnt really fancy it after all!
Done some more xbox dancing 2nite so hopefuly it'll encourage baby 2 move down a bit more :-)

Jojo1983 · 17/08/2011 21:34

Evening ladies
Had a phone call from the midwife at the hospital this morning telling me I had a bug in my urine (cue thoughts of a big cartoon purple coloured bug dancing in my wee!) and that the antibiotics they gave me other day wouldn't work so had to go back to the doctors this evening (after argument with the receptionist) to get a new prescription.
Helped my sister get some bits for my nephews birthday party at the weekend now have swollen feet and some painful stomach cramps and BH. The joys of being pregnant hey!
Bit worried about this talk of HV coming to peoples houses asking lots of questions I haven't heard of this, is it only some areas in the uk??

jimmijam · 17/08/2011 21:59

I used 2 live in warwickshire and 4years ago they werent doing hv pre baby visits. Now in somerset where they do appear 2 do these visits. Mw hadnt mentioned it, a bit annoyed at her turning up unanounced and glad we were out- if id been vooking/eating /had visitors etc would she have stayed?! Hopefuly she wont b here 2 long (perhaps if i dont offer her a drink..) ;-)

ScarlettPhoenix · 17/08/2011 23:28

Hi ladies, how is everyone? I've just discovered that one of my ankles has doubled in size - not impressed! My hubby thinks it is quite amusing!!

jimmijam · 17/08/2011 23:37

Ooh thats not good, perhaps worth a trip 2 midwife/dr in morning?

ssmile · 18/08/2011 10:05

scarlett ooh I'd get that checked out if u worried it can be sign of otherstuff.

My DD asks everyday how many sleeps until baby arrives. It has been wks but today it hit me could be only 8 'sleeps'. I use the term loosely as not had much sleep last night between baby being awkward, period type pain low down in night (oh er) & DD up 2-5am with bad dreams again. Tad tired today, but DD at preschool today so yay will have nap later.

How's everyone else doing? Ru getting bit bored of the hse now &waiting? After 3wks off work I now starting to twiddle thumbs abit &watch daytime TV :o

Sewmuchtodo · 18/08/2011 11:21

Oh gosh, not daytime tv! lol.

I have been on 'leave' for 4wks but still doing work from home and have one last meeting on Monday.......however with both DH (teacher) and kids off it has been far from quiet!

I know what you mean about sleep. I seem to sleep one in 3 or 4 as by then I am beyond exhausted and can't keep my eyes open......other than that the discomfort and heartburn wins!

Is anyone else feeling run down/ cold etc?

feralgirl · 18/08/2011 11:32

Ssmile, I wish I had time to be bored but a loony toddler tends to prevent it! He's off with my parents today so I am planning to spend the day reading and sleeping (if my goddam next door neighbour stops hammering for more than 10 mins Angry). If I get bored at any point then there are still plenty of boxes I can sort through, stuff to go up in the loft, mobiles and pictures to be put up, curtains to hang, housework that needs doing, baby stuff that needs to find a home... the bloody list is bloody endless!

HVs in Cornwall don't ever turn up unannounced, and they are so short-staffed that they don't do pre-baby visits if it's your second DC any more. I haven't even got my red book yet! Can't say I'm at all bothered as my HV last time was as much use a chocolate teapot and just irritated the hell out of me. We got the standard questionnaire about domestic violence etc but nothing terribly intrusive like the ones cbear got asked which are just strange. It's so tempting to just start making stuff up in those situations...

feralgirl · 18/08/2011 11:37

sewmuch, I am just constantly knackered. I wake up feeling fine, spend an hour or two doing stuff and then I'd be ready to go back to bed given half a chance. I just need about a week to do absolutely nothing at all I think. Fortunately, DH has the next fortnight off so he can just deal with DS and leave me to sleep.

I'm that tired that I just think it'd be impossible for me to go through labour atm, since just hanging out the laundry necessitates a sit-down, let alone 12 hours of pain and pushing!

MrsSawyer · 18/08/2011 11:50

bloody hell, a new mw has just been and told me she will come back on the 1st of sept to do a sweep and used the words "im not gentle, but i am effective, ive a good track record and im not failing this time either!" holy moly, thats 2 weeks today!!!!! scared now, but in a kind of excited, nervous scary kind of way - eek!

ssmile · 18/08/2011 11:54

Oh dear feralgirl hope you can get some rest. I've kept my vactive 4yr old in daycare 2d a week whilst I been off and its been a godsend. I've spent last 3wks on those 2days getting SO much done. So think all my boxes, washing sorting is now done. Hence the daytime Tv :o I've even sold few things on eBay so had daily trips to postoffice. I think once u become a mum you get so used to being efficient at multitasking that when little ones are not around you get SO much done then the house seems voddly quiet. I loved it to start with but now its odd and I making far too many cakes and eating them :)

ssmile · 18/08/2011 11:57

mrssawyer gd luck with sweep. It can be uncomfy and it some women veffective, I had 3 and they didn't work but by the last one the MW gave me a gd indication that my body just wasn't ready for labour and she was right. I ended up with c-sec in the end. They give u a score post sweep on how effective they think it has been, but I can't remeber the details she will tell you.

100years · 18/08/2011 13:40

I've taken to sitting on a bin bag on the settee in the front room just in case? Last night had major cramps/pains/tightenings/backache and was at one point thinking I would have to get OH to put the Tens machine on me at some point. Anyway, I had got up and thought I ought to sit on a bin bag in case my waters went! Got up, had a hot water bottle on my back to ease that, and the stomach ache died off again, until I went and laid back in bed (2hours later) and then proceeded to have another one! Yawns madly. All quiet in there now BH back to non painful ones! And back to expecting it to be another few weeks wait yet! But there was a massive 'ooh is it starting?' thought going through my head last night.

Sis not come over today, her littlest isn't very well, so she'll come over on another day, that's not been a problem as I ended up staying in bed and sleeping till 12 due to not sleeping very much at all last night.

LOL to bumpy re the poo in the pool thing, my OH burst out laughing the other day when he had this thought I might poo myself in labour, thankfully I'm very very thick skinned and laughed with him. Although it's really not something I want to happen, my MW actually said that the MW are quite pleased when it happens as it's a sign you are fairly far on.

feral, yep I'm getting the head butted insides too. I also occasionally feel that something is happening very deep inside me iykwim.

jojo, that's a funny image re the cartoon bug.

Scarlett have you contacted your mw?

I'm still not bored yet, and am in fact loving the excuse to sit here and do nothing, got re started on my crochet blanket i'm making and have loads to do on it, so more time would be good. Plus I'm enjoying chatting with peeps on here and reading other threads, am mainly a lurker on here and another website, and only post in a couple of select threads. Tomorrow is a trip into town to pick up a few bits and bobs, hopefully get measured for a nursing bra - I'll just buy the one from there and then order some more online when I know exactly how big my boobs have got, then friend coming over in the evening. Got a few things lines up for the coming week which is good. And debating booking a hair cut on my actual due date so I'm not sat at home that day wondering.

Not discussed sweeps with the mw, I am seeing her on the day before my EDD so whether she does one or not then I don't know, maybe I should have asked!

I finished my sewing projects, felt project and my books (was reading milliumum trilogy girl w dragon tattoo etc) which was excellent. Cleared out under the bed, cupboard &upto date with all the washing. Think that's why I feel a bit twiddley thumbs as haven't got the energy to start any more 'projects'...... ready for the next big one 'baby' :o
100yrs I had sweeps last time at 5d, 10d &12d over edd different MWs offer at different times depending on your case history. I'd talk to your MW when u next see her.

100years · 18/08/2011 14:14

I've ordered a load of books of amazon, so waiting for them to arrive, along with series three of how I met your mother, so will have plenty to get on with :) I've done none of this nesting stuff you are supposed to. I know the bathroom sinks need a wipe over, did I bother to do it, nope not yet :(
Next time I see MW will be the last, as I'm under consultant care so she said I'll be seeing them the following week. Seeing them next week for the last growth scan and will ask there if I remember.

100 yrs am with you on the bin bag thing, I have got a picnic blanket with waterproof backing on sofa as would hate to ruin it, it is the only thing we have on credit so could not get replaced if ruined. Am finding it hard to get stuff done due to being sick so much, baby started rolling at 6am which made me really nausious and I can not keep food down - feels like the first 12 weeks again which is a real pain. Am slightly worried about holiday next week as will have 2 meals a day in hotel restaurant and don't want to have to keep bolting to the loo (I literally get a 10 second warning before being sick). My NHS class has been moved again and now is only 5 days before the EDD which is leaving it a bit late I feel so will have to make my DH read more books. Have heard nothing about HV turning up before birth round here - would not be pleased to have no warning. I nearly fell in my pond today as my balance is off, had to bail pond out in heavy rain as it was about to flood and had visions of fish on the lawn and got told off by my next door neighbour who saw me out of the window and made her DH waterproof up and do it for me - bless! Hope everyone else is hanging in there and doing ok.

100years · 18/08/2011 15:16

Oooh Candr, the picnic blanket thing is a really much better idea than this bin bag I'm sitting on. Will check with OH if we have one lurking in the cupboard. Sickness is horrid :( But glad your neighbour got suited up to do the pond job for you :)

Everyone is so busy! I feel like a slug in comparison ecause I've done precisely nothing all day except occupy the sofa and use up oxygen :) Soft play is postponed until teatime so DH has been running round after DS while I vegetate. He bought me a pot of home-made ice cream from the cafe down the road, cappuccino flavour made with proper Italian coffee so DD is dancing away in there.

Thanks for the comments about yesterday's MW appointment. DH had an appointment with our GP today and apparently most of the appointment was spent discussing me because he (the doctor) had looked at the updates left on my notes by the MW. The gist of it is that I can't expect to get to 8.5m with no swelling especially when I'm on my feet lots and it's warm outside, if baby was head down two weeks ago I'd have noticed her turning breech or at least noticed some sort of large/uncomfortable movement, and protein in the urine in the amounts picked up yesterday is generally caused by ordinary discharge finding it's way into the urine sample - TMI there, sorry, but I was TMI'd too by the thought of my GP and my DH discussing discharge. And as for her measurements, well in hindsight she was measuring from a very low starting point so it was bound to be off. So I'm feeling much better :o

100years · 18/08/2011 15:30

Glad you are feeling much better about things now CBear :) Vegetating is GOOD, esp with another one running around the place. I am lucky to not have to entertain another one, I know if we have a second the run up to labour won't be as easy as it is for me now.

OP posts:
Milliebow · 18/08/2011 16:45

Glad you are feeling better cbear. Nice of GP to go through it all. I'm all for vegetating and planned to do that all day. Unfortunately TV had other ideas and was all pixalated (?sp) totally unable to get it tuned back in despite much twiddling of arial lead etc. Have been doing washing and ironing instead which is not as much fun!

sebs71 · 18/08/2011 17:12

Cbear - that does all sound much better.
Candr - boo to all the sickness. Hope you have a good holiday and manage to relax. That's a nice neighbour you have there :)
Hadn't thought about sitting on anything waterproof. Although, I keep thinking I'll be late so not quite on alert mode yet. (Tempting fate now?? Wink)
Milliebow - hope your TV gets fixed quickly!!

100years - I think I'd have thought "is this it?" too with all that. Glad you're feeling better. I'm also off to get measured again tomorrow, but someone here posted that as you change so much afterwards, it's a good idea to just get a sleeping nursing bra for hospital and then get proper one afterwards. I'll see what they say tomorrow.

I'm also missing the nesting gene... washed the baby's clothes a few weeks ago and did a bit of a clean before MIL came this weekend, and feel that's quite enough!! I'm trying to plan at least one thing to do each day, and seem to fill the rest of the day with something...(usually checking emails and reading a few threads here!!!) the day goes quite quickly! Haven't got bored yet, and enjoying the rest. It's so quiet here without DP's kids (they're at their mum's) ... just me and the dog!! But it's nice spending evenings with DP - just the two of us - making the most of it!

Picked up my midwife's TENS machine today, so going to try it out tonight so I know what to do when it's REALLY needed!!

Had that awful "LO has been quiet for a while" feeling last night - around 4.30am. DP went to get some OJ from the fridge, and sure enough, within 10 minutes she was jiggling about Grin I hate that feeling when it's all quiet inside.

Midwife mentioned sweeps to me, but said she'd start after EDD. She said they were only effective if LO is ready hence why they're not too effective.

ssmile · 18/08/2011 17:42

Got the promotion I went for yester start Aug-12!! Put me on a lovely high as in this economic climate gd to know we have a little bit of security as spent last few yrs like a lot couples with first my DH job under threat then mine was. Got grandMa to babysit tonight at short notice and off out for night :o prob last one before baby arrives.

candar hope sickness passes &u feel little better.
milli hope TV pic comes back
I hadn't even thought about sitting on anything maybe I should?
