If you kind of put it on the thinnest part, just beneath stomach, and move it around slowly, that's where I get my reading. But the midwife told me the baby was lying low in my stomach, so that may be why I get a reading- some people only hear it sometimes as the baby may be moving around a lot apparently. Don't worry, you will find it! My husband says I shouldn't have bought it as will panic everytime I can't hear it!

jinglediddle · 08/12/2005 14:06

my husband says that to abbey, and he bought it. maybe its too early, gonna have another go though soon. i kow its there somewhere

abbey1515 · 08/12/2005 14:49

It took me hours of trying- you have to leave it in the same place for a bit as well so that the machine gradually picks up the noise as it's not as loud as your own heartbeat.
I am going to try to only use it once a week, but the temptation is huge!
Am so tired and having a really bad day in school The kids are bonkers because they are getting excited for Christmas, and everything seems to be going wrong.Wish I could go home!

jinglediddle · 08/12/2005 14:50

woohoo - i found it found it!!!

After finding my own for what seemed like ages, i moved it down a little further than i thought i'd need to, and there it was mega fast regsitered fine on the doppler. very pleased now.

thought as it had nwo got extra space it would move up more, but its still quite low.

jinglediddle · 08/12/2005 14:51

aww abey - don't you worry xmas will come and go before you know it and we can all relax again.
i wouldn't survive once a week. i've already tried 4 times today.

abbey1515 · 08/12/2005 14:52

Yay! Isn't it exciting? It's really worth the money (I keep telling DH) to hear that!

slinksanta · 08/12/2005 15:16

whey hey dids glad you found the heartbeat, knew it would all be fine, it does take some stalking at first, i listen once everyday- i need to buy some more gel already and im only 11.5 weeks by LMP or 12.2 by scan

abbey1515 · 08/12/2005 15:34

I love it- but am going to try to not use it a lot- although there is nothing to say how often to use it...It's not very strong ultrasound, anyway, is it?

jinglediddle · 08/12/2005 16:06

abbey - no not too strong at all, my instructions say that there have been no known reason not to use it everyday. so i'm gonna.

abbey1515 · 08/12/2005 20:16

Well that's good, because I've used it twice today already!
It's good to keep you going till next scan- my 20 week one is end of Jan.

jinglediddle · 08/12/2005 21:25

so's mine abbey - the 19th can't wait.

abbey1515 · 08/12/2005 21:38

Mine's the 24th.It seems a long way off!
It's really strange, I've completely stopped being sick, but still feel very sick, especially when tired, but can't actually be sick- does anyone else feel the same? Or is it TMI?!

jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 07:47

abbey - my sickness is going too, i was never actually sick before, only once. But i felt very very sick a couple of weeks ago. Now i onl feel sick when i'm really tired. I hope it stays that way.

ladyschaefer · 09/12/2005 09:14

My sickness seems to be stopping now too, i was being sick practically every other day up until Monday. Nothing since so im keeping my fingers crossed.

It must be lovely to hear your babys heartbeat on the doppler, i cant afford one at the moment what with xmas and everything, maybe i'll get one in the new year.

I have my scan on Jan 26th it seems like a lifetime away, i cant wait to have a pic of my lil one as i didnt get one at the nuchal scan.

jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 09:21

Glad to see you're sickness is slowing down Ladyschaefer..

I'm having an emotional day! does anyone else feel like bursting into tears at the slightest thing, because thats me today.
Just called DH, he's away at the moment and he couldn't hear me, so couldn't chat, then went. made me feel all sad and unwanted. these hormones are very annoying!!!

LilacBump · 09/12/2005 16:54

my scan today was amazing. the baby is doing well. all the measurements were spot on and my dates matched. it makes it all so much more real now.
here 's a picture.

Laura032004 · 09/12/2005 19:11

Fantastic photo LilacBump How far along are you now? That looks like my ds's scan at 20w.

LilacBump · 09/12/2005 19:16

i'm 14 weeks 3 days! the scan of DD at the same stage done 5 years ago (nearly to the day!) was just a blob in comparison! i was very impressed with the hospital. i will be tested for UTI every month and getting a blood test for checking my kidneys at next midwife appointment. also, they checked for markers at the scan, for down's etc. all seems to be fine. my faith in the NHS is restored

jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 19:24

lilacbump - great scan pic, baby looks fab. its lovely to see them looking so real isn't it.

abbey1515 · 09/12/2005 21:28

LilacBump, what a lovely picture! I couldn't stop looking at mine at 10 weeks. You are two days ahead of me...would love to see mine!
Diddle, Poor you-I was having a day like that yesterday- much better today, but yesterday alternately felt like hugging then slapping the schoolkids- sure I would get in trouble either way!

trinity1 · 12/12/2005 08:20

Hi all,
I'm due 14th June, but after my nuchal scan last week they said my date was 8th June, don't know which one to go with.
My DP is trying to book some time off work so he can be there but now he's all confused, bless him!
First pregnancy and we're all excited, got my first flutters a couple of days ago and on the scan the little one was doing cartwheels! Am just starting to get over morning sickness but appetite has not returned yet because now I've got the flu! Hope its not born on 6/6/6 With my family it'll never live it down!

ladyschaefer · 12/12/2005 09:17

Hello and welcome trinity, congratulations. Id go with the date that they gave you at the scan as that is the most accurate way of dating the pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon.

LilacBump · 12/12/2005 09:31

congratulations, trinity1! i would go with the scan dates. they actually kept mine 06/06/06, which DP thinks is so cool and he actually wants the baby to be born that day!

Curlycapers · 12/12/2005 10:23

Congratulations trinity1! I hope you get over the flu soon! you must feel pretty yucky.
I had my nuchal scan last tuesday and they said that my due date was about 5 days out, which seems unlikely as I know when the baby was conceived. I think they just go by average measurements as when babies are born they are all different sizes anyway.

I found your message very reassuring Abbey1515! Ds's teacher is pregnant too and I do feel sorry for him spending all of his time with tired and hormonal ladies!

How is everyone feeling now? Did you have nice weekends?
Our house turned into santa's grotto yesterday with a tree so tall it gones along the ceiling for about 3 inches!

trinity1 · 12/12/2005 10:33

Thanks guys. Any idea where I can get decent holiday maternity clothes for this time of year. Am going away at Christmas and as everything is getting big at an alarming rate am starting to panic!! My pre-pregnancy jeans don't fit anymore and I'm only 14 wks 3 days! This is taking some getting used to xxx
