At long last... hester's daughter is here

After many years of hard work and heartbreak, I finally went into labour on Monday (my due date) and gave birth Tuesday morning 7am. After 28 hours painful but unproductive back labour, I went for augmentation with epidural. Sadly, the epi caused my blood pressure to crash, my contractions to stop and the baby's heartrate to decelerate alarmingly. The decelerations didn't stabilise, so I ended up delivering by caesarean section.

Ava was born with excellent apgar scores, 7lb 2oz, with masses of dark hair and big blue eyes. She is a corker. She has talipes but it does not seem particularly severe, and otherwise seems a healthy baby. She has taken to breastfeeding with great gusto, but sadly only at night and only on one side. We are working on this.

Mothers and baby are all doing well. Thanks to all the lovely mumsnetters who have kept me going through conception, miscarriage, pregnancy, foetal abnormality scares and now birth. You are stars.

Oh hester, many many MANY congratulations!! I'm so pleased for you.

Love the name - if Blake had been a girl, he was going to be Ava!

Can't wait to see her.

Good luck with starting the treatment for talipes. Ring or email me any time.

Congratulations After such a long journey (I am a lurker on the ttc threads!!) you must be ecstatic!!!

motherinferior · 21/10/2005 09:57

Hester, I can't tell you how happy I've been to hear about your new daughter. It has been such a long and rocky journey, and it's marvellous beyond words to see that this bit is over (now you've got parenthood, of course).

Lots and lots and lots of love to all three of you gorgeous girls.

This is the first birth announcment in ages that has made me feel all gushy, I'd even go as far to say that it's made the broodiness turn the corner again so that it's heading back to consume me again

Congratulations and a lovely big welcome to Ava.

Love, Love, LOVE the name too

mrsdarcy · 21/10/2005 10:02

Congratulations! I know a 3yo who was born with severe talipes and after surgery he is fine - he charges around my house with all the others!

I don't know your story but I do know the utter bliss of finally having one's precious baby after a loss and a scary pregnancy. 13 weeks on I'm still on cloud 9 and I bet you will be too!

Springchicken · 21/10/2005 10:40

Congratlations and welcome to Ava x
I don't know your "story" but it sounds like it has been a rocky ride. Heave a huge sigh of relief and give your beautiful baby girl a huge hug.
Well Done

Congratulations Hester! Welcome to the world Ava; you are very blessed to have 2 mummies that desperately wanted you.

I am so happy that things have ended happily.

(FWIW I have a really good friend who was born with talipes and I would never have known if she hadn't mentioned it. In fact, she is really athletic; runs nearly everyday (not to mention chasing her lovely girls around the house as well).

Hester I missed this as I have been away for a long weekend, but I am really thrilled for you. You've had so much worry to cope with, and I know it's been a long journey, but what a fab ending. Exactly the same birth weight as my first-born. She sounds utterly gorgeous

Maddison · 25/10/2005 15:43
