I have so missed posting him a card, so i am doing it on here.....

I feel exactly the same 2shoes. I miss my Dad dreadfully. He died almost 4yrs ago. Never a day goes by when I don't think about him.

God, I miss him so much. Am sat her sobbing and I have to pick up DD from nursery in half an hour.

What a lovely idea for a thread. I too have been dreading Sunday as my Dad passed away lat July so it's my first without him. Have even been avoiding the shops although I have to take DDs out to get their Daddy a card, wish i didn't have to.

so I too would like to wish my darling Dad a happy fathers day, and to let him know that he is missed every second of every day by me and his lovely grand-daughters.

Yes its a tough time of year isn't it? I too have avoided buying a Father's Day card from my kids to give to their Dad, my wonderful caring husband...but somehow we have to do it don't we? I need to also go and visit my Dad's grave soon - I've not been since last year - I fall to pieces every time I go up there. I have to go on my own - if I go with the kids they start to cry too.

My eldest DD was in tears when I picked her up from school yesterday - evidentally (according to her teacher) they were singing a song and it reminded her of her Grandad. So hard for me to hear that from a teacher without crying myself but I held it together and had a good sob, on my own, when we got home.

When does it get better? After almost 4yrs I'd have thought I'd be ok but I'm not. Its so hard.

Happy Fathers day Dad XXX I was thinking about how i didn't get you a card one year, but i did give birth to your DGD1 on fathers day so you let me off . Wish you could have met your lovely DGD2, she is the spitting image of you and i know that you live on in her.

Hi THB, thank you for that. It went really well (as well as funerals go ) It was a lovely sunny day, the service went well and I was proud that DS1 helped carry nannie's coffin, read the psalm during the mass and DD1 read a poem. I held it together long enough to read the poem my mum wrote for her first son who died when he was 3. I am keeping sane by reminding myself that mum is now with my dad and they are looking down on their grandchildren x

mumoverseas - I am so glad that it all went kay for you and must say that I think that you and DD1 are immensely strong in reading - I know it is something I could not have done. Like your DS1, I did carry my Mums casket and that in itself was an extremely emotional thing to do.

Lovely thought 2shoes. I am sure he will see his virtual card somehow . Felt very odd going to get a Fathers Day card for BGD and not getting one for my Dad or stocking up on thin milk chocolate bars for him. It had to be thin as he couldn't manage the thicker sort over the last few years .

I always enjoyed choosing him a card with beautiful words. I loved him so very much

oh my Dad loved his PC.
he was so adamant he wasn't having an op on the brain tumour, he said he didn't want anyone messing with his hard drive, not bad hor a man in his 80's

I find it hard too. Dad died 12 years ago this week and ds was born 5 years ago on Father's Day and his dad has no interest in being a part of his life. So I feel sad for me and really sad for ds when all his classmates are making cards for their dads. He made a card for his god father (mu suggestion to his teacher) but whoever helped him do it has stuck a poem in it about being a great dad . Pretty insensitive and I'll be having a word when I see the teacher next week.
