It's because people don't believe the OP

Not a “hole”. Just an assumption made by you. She could be as young as 56. You clearly said in her 60’s.

why is everyone going on about him dying in May? The very first line of the op says my brother died suddenly today, and was posted on 14th July. Op says it was the mum that died in May not the brother

we are not loaded , but he's getting a good send off.

Then you'll need some money to pay for it

Sorry for your loss.

Unexpected losses are the worst as there's no time to say what you might want to say or to ask their wishes.

Yes, you can receive help from your Council (part of a previous job of mine linked to the department that deals with this). They will provide you with everything you need to know if the funeral home cannot arrange it for you. It will be a cremation and it will be at an early timeslot - usually the first time slot of the day for a funeral.

If you do choose to do this it will be a basic funeral but you can arrange something to remember him by as a tribute at a later date or spread his ashes in his favourite place.

It's actually a bit more than a basic 'direct cremation' that some people arrange in advance nowadays.

Thinking of you. Again, sorry for your loss 💐

Missm68 · 20/07/2026 19:29

never said he died 2 months ago !!

CorvusPurpureus · 20/07/2026 19:31

I think there was a typo in one of OP’s posts (15/7, 09:42) where she wrote ‘may’ but then corrected to ‘mum’, as in they had also lost their mum earlier this year.

She’s not always writing particularly clearly, but she didn’t say the db died in May!

JohnnieFedora · 20/07/2026 19:32

Who sorted out your mum's funeral?

You shouldn't post your late brother's image on here

HebeMumsnet · 20/07/2026 19:59

Evening, everyone. We're just popping our heads around the door to ask people to please post kindly, especially on this board. We don't allow troll hunting under any circumstances, but we feel it's particularly thoughtless on a bereavement thread. Reading carefully, it seems there was a misunderstanding here, which is precisely why we always ask people to report to us privately rather than make unfounded accusations on a thread.

We'd like to ask that we draw a line under this now and return to discussing the OP's request for advice on finding help with funeral costs.

OP, we're sorry to hear about your loss. We're sure you will manage to give your brother a send off he would be proud of.

Im so sorry for your loss. We lost our mum when we ( me and sis) were late teens. Our aunties and uncles etc basically said tell us when the funeral is. We had no money nor did mum so her funeral was basic but I still think we did her proud. Her service was at a local crem and we brought flowers ourselves etc and had a wake in our family home. We literally went to Iceland for the food lol. Both me and my sister are now much older and financially better off so have considered a memorial service but decided against it. As we know our mum would've been happy with her funeral. So will your brother. 55 is no age to go :(

@Missm68 Not everyone said those things. I certainly did not.

The problem with Mumsnet is that sometimes people don't have enough time to fully read a thread, people type or choose the wrong words and then things get misconstrued.

There are lots of fake posts on this site, so lots of people have their senses on high alert.

You don't need to justify anything to anyone here.

If I was you, I would ask MumsNet Admin to remove the photos of your Brother and just leave this thread where it is.

Remember the good times with your Brother.

Don't let this thread effect you x 💐
