Struggling coming up to Christmas

My parents were elderly when we lost them, my Dad age 90 July 2021 and my Mum age 93 December 2023. I was thankful for their long lives and both times their suffering was ended due to horrible illnesses.

I find myself crying so much at the moment really feeling the loss. I have to pull myself together and be festive as my dd is coming home from uni, I just don't feel like it.

Is anybody else especially struggling at the moment? I am told firsts are always hard. This is the first Christmas without Mum :(

I lost my teen DS to cancer in April. He was just 13 years old. I'm dreading Christmas, this time last year we could not have predicted that he wouldn't be here.

Sending love to all bereaved

I'm so sorry.

I lost my sister last June. I watched the Wham documentary the other night and it reminded me so much of her. Yesterday I went to the crematorium and sang Last Christmas to her. She and my youngest sister were always the ones who’d sing at the top of their voices to Christmas Day TOTP, I was the quiet one. I haven’t told anyone this IRL. I’m just lost.

I've just sobbed in Sainsbury's seeing the little boxes of cereal. I always bought my ds a pack at Xmas.

I lost my mum suddenly 7 years ago and my dad in the summer to a heart attack. They were both too young and in good health immediately prior, which made it a real shock.
I feel really flat and just sort of alone coming up to Christmas. We have lots of plans with the inlaws, who I like, but it makes me feel sad that I won't see any family of my own. I have siblings who I got on with but they all live far away and I won't get chance to visit.
It's just kind of really hit me the last couple of days.

Sorry to read so many of you are struggling too.
