Step son's mother died this morning

She's been terminally ill for 5 years and up until a few months ago you'd never have known. She had her bad days and she was in excruciating pain half the time but she never let people see it. She only ever wanted to best for her son. She welcomed me into his life (and her own) with open arms and accepted my children with such love (even taking all the children overnight and on holidays when she still could) and affection. Most people aren't so lucky to have a husband with such a remarkable exW and it's unfair that we've all had to lose her so soon.

I'm no where near the woman she was and I have no idea how I can even attempt to fill that gap in my step sons life but I will certainly do my best to make her proud.

If anyone would like to raise a glass to her tonight, it'd be appreciated. She loved a brandy Alexander, and her name was Marina. I don't think she ever understood just how much she was going to be missed.

Off to pull myself together now

Loving her so much will be a huge benefit to him. Having a mum and step mum who hated eavhnother would be much worse.

Bratsandtwats · 16/05/2018 20:25

RIP Marina. Condolences to you and your family rosamore Flowers

So sad but so wonderful that you had each other. You really do sound like a wonderful woman too and you must be to have had this relationship with her. Whatever happen, however hard, you have an incredible family and
it will make you stronger. I can't raise a glass of anything but water, but I will certainly do that and light a candle. RIP Marina x

It is SO nice to see a post on here about the ex-W and the wife, WHO GET ALONG.

You both sound like remarkable women who were lucky to have one another in each other's lives.

Flowers for your loss. Your step-son is lucky to have two women who adore him.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss, Rosamore. Marina sounds like a very special lady and I can tell her loss will be felt deeply.

From another stepmother, you both sound like shining examples in our role and I really admire you both. What a wonderful family example, you, your husband and Marina have set all your kids. There should be more like the three of you.

Raising a glass to two special ladies tonight, Rosamore and Marina. Flowers

Pannacott · 16/05/2018 20:46

DanglyEarOrnaments · 16/05/2018 20:47

Rest in peace Marina Flowers

This happened in our family and my lovely stepson needed me but I tried hard to just be there and not overstep the mark.

He is in his late 20's now, this tragedy was ten years ago, and we are very close, in fact we are just as close as I am with my own son. We all still wish his mum was alive though.

Wishing you all love and strength to get through. You will do the right things for him as you are a good woman. x
