Hi YG - I read about this group recently. Glad to hear you are part of it.

katzg · 22/02/2007 09:25

well done YG - i'm sure you will get tonnes of love and support from the group. My MIL would be so pleased how far it has come from the days when she was campaigning for charity status and running in from her loft!

Cappuccino · 22/02/2007 09:33

oh you see I'm very disappointed now YG

I've been waiting and hoping for you to join the Batley branch of Widows and Widowers that my mother used to go to

they were all barking and weighed about 40 stone; I was looking forward to hearing your exploits

My mum gave up going because they were frightening and my life was always a little more dull without the stories

Cappuccino · 22/02/2007 09:34

I know that WAY aren't like that btw, they are full of nice lovely people

I think it's sad in a way

scoobydoo99 · 22/02/2007 10:03

Yorkiegirl. You are so doing the right thing. My first husband was killed in an accident when I was 26 (he was 27) and as well as the intense grief I was completely crippled by the feeling that I was so alone - I'd never met anyone in the same situation and found it really difficult to tell anyone about it as I hated their shocked reaction and pity. Obviously your situation is different as you have kids, which I'm sure must be really hard (I'd only been married just over a year) but I'm sure you'll find meeting other people in the same situation a real support - I only wish I'd had the opportunity. By the way, I'm now in my early 40s, happily remarried with a lovely DD of 16 months and another on the way (although very early days). I did go through some very dark times, but while you obviously never forget you can and do move on, and I'm now once again loving my life.
I so so hope you find the support you need, and will be thinking of you. Love to you and the kids

nailpolish · 22/02/2007 10:06

YG they sound like great group

well done and i hope you have lots of nice things to look forward to soon, both you yourself and with the dd's

theheadgirl · 22/02/2007 10:33

YG good for you. I've read about what happened to you and just wanted to send you my support, it must have been, and must still be, bloody crap. Looking forward to meeting you at the sheffield spa xx

sassy · 22/02/2007 10:40

Well done YG, I really hope it is a help for you.
IME (when my mum died aged 49, me and 2 sisters were 25, 18 and 13)the period from 4months to 15months was the worst, then things started to improve again. This was certainly my Dad's experience. Facing all those 'firsts' was so hard, birthdays, Xmas,Val day etc.
I think of you and the dds often.x

Ulysees · 22/02/2007 10:42

YG that's great news. Which centre parcs are you going to? I love it there. ExDh just come back from Oasis with the boys. I think they enjoy it there as much as any holiday. they've been to Disney FL and all over but center parcs seems to get them more excited than anywhere else.
