even as life seems to return to a kind of normality for your friends here, many of us continue to grieve for you .. and we will continue to be here for you when you are ready or in need of us we will be here

each candle is a thought, each thought is a prayer however we choose to pray

candles lit for Maude

I am glad that MN can make it possible.

Popsy - I saw that message too; it made me cry. It's all too sad

I have lit a candle also.

I think a few minutes of internet log out would be very fitting.

I dont know how difficult it would be but maybe tech could stopp all posts with a pop up that explained why to anyone that attempted to post?

I think it's a testiment to all of mumsnet that everyone has pulled together at this time. I know it wont help the family but I think knowing that everyone is thinking about you must make some small difference.

I will take a minutes silence at 10:00 tomorrow. Thanks for posting the time.

I take your point that not everyone will be aware, but those of us who are, and those of us who feel they'd like to should try to take a moment to think about the family tomorrow. Mumsnet is about so much more than what you had for dinner or who is your favourite mnetter. Don't get me wrong those threads are great when you're looking for fun or a break from RL.

I love mumsnet and like knowing that I will be supported here.

I suppose if it's not possible to freeze the boards, another way of signal it would be for there to be a new thread started at the time of the funeral and for everyone to log in and just put "x" as their post- it would show that they were there and not posting, if you see what I mean.

Thanks for this Twiglett- I will light a candle now.

Oh that's so good - I was hoping there might be a minute's silence, but thought it would be impossible to do via MN - would be amazing if MN could do this.

Either way I'll be thinking of ggg and her family tomorrow at 9am.

JanH · 08/01/2007 19:13

That's a nice idea, tamum - maybe Cfrau could start a similar thread, at 9pm (?), to catch the evening posse?

Practicalities mean I will be on the nursery run at 9am but I will certainly be thinking of GGG and her family. I will be lighting another candle when I get back .

She'll be in my thoughts too. I'll light a real candle for her when I can tomorrow.

I also will be on the school run, but will have a minutes silence on my return.

Will be taking ds into nursery at 9am, but will stop and send my love to all Maude's family.

tamum · 08/01/2007 20:05

That's a good idea Janh, loads more people would be around at 9pm, and the not posting would be more meaningful. Just for a minute or two, have just the one thread going with silence on it?

Report
Hulababy · 08/01/2007 20:09

I will be at work, doing my interviews. But I will make sure that as soon after 9am as I can, I shall stop and remember GGG and her darling Maude.

I seemed to have missed GGG's tragic news being so wrapped up in returning to work and not being on MN for the past week or so!

This news really puts things in perspective.

My thoughts will be with GGG tomorrow and my heart goes out to her, Theres alot of people thinking of you out there hun!

274 candles, 15 countries
all grieving for one little girl

Report
JanH · 08/01/2007 23:10

Only 274? There were nearly 400 earlier - lots of candles have gone out this evening then (24 hours since Twig started the thread)

Can we light some more, please?
