My newborn girl is going to die, not sure what to do now.

I gave birth to our little girl yesterday at 1.15pm. They told almost straight away they thought she had Edward's Syndrome. Now they think her brain just didn't develop. Noone can tell us how long she will be with us, nobody knows.

My two dds are 6 and 4 and were so excited about their baby sister. They are coming to meet her later. How can I tell them she will die?

As she is breathing unaided and tube feeding, they are caring for her in SCBU, but I have said if they can't do anything, I want to bring her home to spend her last time. I wish we knew how long she had.

I think my heart is breaking.

Oh Cup have been following from the start - but what has finally prompted me to write rather than lurk is not only the fact you are an amazing and tiger-like mummy who goes grr at Dr Death Smile - but the fact that Bea is so totally exquisite. What a stunning, precious little bubba - infinitely, painfully precious and sweet. Wishing you good days on top of good days with your lovely, lovely girls.

ReindeerBollocks · 28/09/2011 20:26

Such beautiful little girl you have there, I am so pleased Bea is home, where she belongs with a family who love her.

Sending you all lots of hugs xx

Concordia · 28/09/2011 20:28

well i think there's a lot of us on mn rooting that dr death is just plain wrong. it must be such an emotional rollercoaster. don't feel guilty for feeling despondent or for feeling happy - just try to enjoy beatrice when you can....these days (let's hope longer than days) are so precious - a real gift.

katz · 28/09/2011 20:30

pruney1977 · 28/09/2011 22:05

Hi Cup
I've been keeping an eye on your thread after you originally posted on the pregnancy board before Beatrice was born. I'm so glad you've been able to bring her home.
I don't really have anything much to say but just wanted to say that it's nice to see your positive attitude and, even though it's obviously extremely hard sometimes, that you're not giving up on little Bea and why should you? doctors aren't always right. Keeping my fingers crossed for little Bea, both mine and DH thoughts are with you (he keeps asking me for updates) x

DecapitatedLegoman · 28/09/2011 22:12

You're an amazing mother cup, your girls are lucky to have you. I'm so glad it was another good day, and hopefully tomorrow follows suit :)

cjbk1 · 29/09/2011 09:51

Wishing you all another happy day Cup.....and another and another Smile xxx

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 09:58

Oh, she is adorable - as are her older sisters.

Glad that you are sounding more positive, it must be awful waiting for the results.

Hopefully the results will help give you an idea of what to expect - although she seems pretty good at confounding expectations.

MortBlackCatsandWitch · 29/09/2011 10:27
