My dad died this morning

I loved him so much and I'm devastated. I'm trying to hold it together (for my children's sake and my poor sister who is due to get married next saturday) and need to make some practical arrangements.

Does anyone know of any practical websites which may help - especially with issues such as post mortems and humanist funerals.

Thank you

mummydreamer, I am so very sorry for your loss. How terribly sad for you and for your sister. I found a book published by Which? called something like The Which Guide to Wills and Estates very helpful. It had a lot of info about dealing with funerals and plenty of addresses/numbers and so on. I imagine the humanist society have information on funerals too. I'm sure someone will know their web address. Take care. xxx

Huge sympathies to you, mummydreamer.

I'm afraid I don;t know about post-mortems etc but I can point you in the direction of The Humanist Society website . There should be some useful info there. Hugs

Mummydreamer, I'm sorry for your loss.

You may find this info for families from Addenbrookes Hospital helpful with regard to a post mortem.

It's a pdf file, so I hope it links ok.

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 29/10/2005 16:02

Mummydreamwer, I am so sorry. If you need an offline 'chat' you have my email address.

A good book about funerals is called the natural death handbook which you can get from the library and i think there is a website too.

Thinking of you, Winniex

So sorry

The hospital can help you with these sorts of things. I think there is a greiving pack they do with lot of information in.
We got one for my nan when my grandad passed, she found it helped.

lars · 29/10/2005 16:37

Mummydreamer, I've no web site to add i'm afraid but I wanted to say how deeply sorry I am for your lost.
My dad died two years ago March and mumsnetters offered some form of comfort to me. To know that I wasn't alone and others knew how I was feeling was very comforting.
I was very close to my father and I think about him every day, it's not easy but time is a healer. As for the post mortem that was the final chapter in my father death, we had some answers to why he died. Take care Larsxx

It's not a website, but I found a Which Guide called 'What to do when someone dies' very useful when my mum died - not quite the one wilbur is talking about, but obviously similar.

Here's the Amazon link
in case you're interested.

I'm so sorry.
